I’ve loved your channel for several years now, and this video is the perfect example of why - I just love how eclectic and all-encompassing your recommendations are! I always discover new SFF books that I’ve never even heard of, along with getting the push to read some that have been hyped, but now also have your kudos ☺️ I also just want to say - I noticed a couple of comments on this video that, at best, were unnecessary and insensitively worded, and at worst, downright mean-spirited. The fact that you responded to these comments with such kindness and graciousness speaks volumes - what a wonderful person you are, and it shines through in each of your videos. Much love ❤
Ahhh thank you so much for this ♥️!! It really made me happy to read that you’ve been loving the channel for some time 🙈! I hope I can continue to deliver happiness and share my passion 💓💓
Great list. Last year "The Adventure of Amina al-Sirafi" was number 3 on my top 10 books of the year. So far this year I only had 3 five star reads: "The Tainted Cup" - Robert Jackson Bennett, "A Little Luck" - Claudia Piñeiro and "Sitah Samurai" - Tatiana Obey.
This is exciting - I just recently bought Al-Sirafi and Addie Larue on Kobo and have been saving them for a trip to Italy I'm going on this summer! Glad I have some good reads coming up!
I just finished The Bound and the Broken , and man oh man. I started the series this year and had to read through all of it. So good! Also great video, thank you!
Yes Guards Guards! I'm so glad it made the last! I'm loving how eclectic this list is, with classic epic fantasies next to fast-paced sci-fi mysteries next to slower books like Addie! You have to watch the Howl's Moving Castle movie now, so you can tell me if I need to read the book, since I liked the movie but not loved it!
Hahaha it feels like I have been reading all kind of stuff lately! I will watch the movie!! Really for the feeling that I will love it, but seriously the book was just so silly and lovely! I think you’ll enjoy it!
If I had to sum up the difference between the book and movie, it'd be "less plot, more fun" for the book 😂 It's just a great cosy read that you can read on a weekend or an afternoon in-between books that require more brain cells in my opinion!
@@zem_fm Oh no, my problem with the movie was not enough external plot! I'll probably still give the book a try though, because all the covers are so pretty and I'm weak. Thank you!
- silently cheers in Howl's Moving Castle made the list - The movie is good in its own way in my opinion, but if you've read the book it honestly feels a bit random, but then again, I've found that several Ghibli movies kind of are? There's a big possibility that the problem is me though, I'm not used to how short movies are 😂 My favourite so far this year is probably The Miracles of the Namiya General Store (I finished it only a few days ago though, so that might change) and it's just a really heart-warming read somehow, you definitely have to be in the mood for it though. Another book I really loved while reading is Dark Star Burning, Ash Falls White but that probably also won't stay that far up, it was definitely a brainrot 5 star, but who am I to deny my whims? 😂 Record of a Spaceborn Few also deserves an honourable mention (I still liked book 1 of Wayfarers the most though), it almost feels like a meditation on humankind and it's just so.... wholesome, I don't know 😂 I'm currently still reading The Little Book of Exoplanets, but once I finish it it'll definitely be the best non-fiction of the year so far! Somehow I wrote a whole novel again here, whoopsie 😶🌫 Anyway, it's good to see you back, you look so refreshed and like you're practically bursting with happiness!
Eliiiii! Thank you for your super comment! I loved LOVED going back to Goodreads and then back to the comment! I wasn’t expecting to give Dark star a try, but now I might?? Yay!! I am so happy you enjoyed the video!! Also thrilled to be back 🔥 Also 100% read Howl’s because of you!!
@@FunFantasyBooks Yayyy! I honestly couldn't tell you if I think you'd enjoy Dark Star, but I really ate that up 😂 You definitely have to keep in mind though that it's YA and in my experience you have to bee in the mood for that!
I read the first of Shannara! But it was such a long time ago I don’t believe it would be reasonable to take it as a read haha! I am seriously obsessed with Of Blood and Fire!
there is one book called Navigating through time by an American author Named Eric jones the book is quite expensive but it isa mind-blowing book the ebook costs 490 rs but every penny was worth spending i am a book lover and this book blows my mind importance of time time management time i have never read a book better then this one on time management ONE must at least Once in life read itread it once in life man
The books I’ve read this year were Holmes,Marple and Poe/Star Wars Light of the Jedi/School Judgment a Manga and Its Amazing how you’ve read that many books 📚 in just four months, how many pages can you read in 3 hours
AAh such a great picks (except one and you know which one I absolutely hated hahah :D), cant wait to read some of those i haven't yet!! Dark matter and Recursion are arriving soon!! Great video
I read Howl's Moving Castle about 2 weeks ago and loved it, it was my first 5-star read of the year. I watched the movie and it was good. The book was better, in my opinion, but I have friends who say otherwise. To be fair there are several significant differences between the book and the movie. And I'm not talking only about the Ghibli vibe that movies obviously have.
Ahh I need to watch the movie!! So happy that you also loved the book! I can’t wait to see where do I fall here haha will I like it more or less than the book? 🌝
I read Dungeon Crawler Carl recently, I liked it, but I am a bit nervous for the rest of the series, I hope it not just rinse and repeat - loot and then get treasure for the rest of the series. Hope there is something more. Barring Wayward Pines I have read all Blake Crouch's early stuff, they were more crime/thriller/horror - nice for a change of pace and something different than my normal reads.

The Tainted Cup was sucky a good read for me as well! Oh! I recently heard of Sitah Samurai! Will probably read it next!!
Decent list, happy to see Al-Sirafi get some love! That book was incredibly fun.
Thank you! Happy to see that you also enjoyed Amina! It was such a delight!

Thank you my wonderful friend, I can't wait to check these out ❤

My favorite books I've read so far this year include The Tainted Cup, The Will of the Many, Golden Son (Red Rising), and The Fragile Threads of Power.

I loved Of Blood and Fire and the Great Hunt. If you've never read Terry Brooks' The Elfstones of Shannara, you might try it.

Howl’s Moving Castle is one of my favourites ! There are some parts in the movie which I don’t like, but I love the castle in it.
I need to watch the movie! Hopefully I will love it as much as the book!

Michael Crighton's "Timeline" is awesome. It's a sci-fi thriller about time travel. Also, your hair looks nice.
Thank you for the recommendation!! I will definitely check it out!
Oh yes, it's a great book. I think I read it about 15-20 years ago, but I really, really liked it, and I still remember it.
Howls moving castle has 2 sequels book 2 is castle in the air and book 3 is house of many ways there very good
Any books recommendation which is fast paced and character driven

Hahah thank you!
Great list Isa, Ryan is awesome , Larue is on my tbr as well as Recursion
Thank you so much!! ♥️! I can’t believe I am only reading Cahill now! Loving it!
Recursion is much better than Dark Matter. So much so, I don’t think you should have included Dark Matter on your list.
It’s her list tho
Hahaha agreed that Recursion is much better! I still loved Dark Matter and was one of the best books I read this year!
Read all but recursion!
Ahhhhh you should!! I think you’ll like it! But maybe it’s too similar to Dark Matter haha
