    So, HRP2 is a gene or a protein? I have heard sometimes gene but sometimes protein? Please kindly clarify. Thanks.

      Genes are the blue-prints for proteins. pfhrp2 is the gene which expresses the protein called HRP2. Parasites lacking the pfhrp2 gene cannot produce the HRP2 . If there is no HRP2 in the blood then the RDT will return a negative result

      If you write it in MAJUSCULE like HRP2 you are Talking about the protein than the hrp2 gene product. In the RDT we are talking about the antigen (HRP2 pRotein)
