  • In this video I review the Soonwell MT8, a budget RGB pixel tube light with some similarities to the higher end Aputure MT Pro, but at less than 1/3 the cost.
    The Soonwell MT8 is 8" long with 8 watts of power, and is one of the only pixel-capable tube lights in its price range, albeit with pretty basic functionality.
    The body is all metal (with built-in magnets and 1/4" threaded holes on both ends), plus it has animated pixel FX, as well as BGM mode to sync the flashing of the lights to music.
    The color accuracy is very high, while the price is quite low, so watch the whole video and let me know if you think it's worth it over the alternatives.

    Do you think there's space in the lighting world for more budget-friendly pixel capable tube lights like these?

      I probably shouldn't say anything, but Genaray is dropping their pixel tube series next week. Fully customizable. 😏🤫

      @@joshfromgradus I should be getting those for review soon too!
      Genaray makes a lot of great stuff that flies under the radar, so I’m looking forward to testing those out.

    I still k use Magic tube waterproof lights from Soonwell. I remember Your review was so comprehensive on that. 59 USD for this ones- good value. I paid 100 USD for those magic tubes also giving 8 watt max.

      The MT1 are still some of my favorite tube lights! I think they are 10 watts if I recall correctly? Either way, I'm glad you like them, and thanks for the support :)

    It's going for a comparable price to the Godox TL30 here in Aus, and honestly the pixelshift is a pretty big selling point even if you lose remote functionality via app.

      The pixel capabilities are definitely more on the basic end, and always have to consider other functionality differences like mobile app control like you mentioned! Over here the TL30 is $89 and these are $59 with an Amazon Prime membership, so the difference is much more!

    Love the video. Do you recommend this over the vl110?

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! And yes I think so, unless you want/need the interconnect-ability of the VL110, I would get this. These lights are more accurate in the white color modes.
      Also, the build quality is much better, and I like how they are flat on one side and round on the other, whereas the VL110 has a faceted tube shape if you like that better.

    For £85 I'd probably go for something mains operated.

      Interesting! Any light in particular? I would think that most people prefer battery operation when it comes to smaller tube lights like this.

      @@NewLayer probably something by GVM I've found them to have a good price to quality ratio.
