    in Spotlight Active Track mode you have to remember that the drone will be course locked, the way the drone will move in response to the control input will be where the drone is facing the time you lock onto a subject. For an easy example, if the drone is facing north and you lock into the subject, pressing up on the joystick will move the drone towards north ALWAYS, if the drone passes by the subject then the drone will face south but still the control will stay the same. Took me a while to get the hang of it.

      Thanks TeeeJaay125, that makes so much more sense. I was doing some practice shots before making this video, trying to use spotlight while tracking some guy on a riding lawn mower. I was trying to fly circles manually with sticks while in spotlight mode while he was cutting grass. I was all over the place, getting closer one min, then flying away the next. Perfect explanation!

      That's the situation I got into with my MA. Now it makes more sense.

    I have used Tap Fly / Free quite a bit with my MA. The ability to yaw the drone while maintaining heading allows for some beautiful pans.

      Thanks for the thumbs up Irwin! It's crazy to think how much this technology has changed in only 5 years.

    nice video and info there chum, and yes I use the auto modes quite a bit with the Air as like you say it frees up some of your fingers and lets you get on with composing a shot etc.

    Like you, I usually fly manually and seldom think about Active Track. Good stuff Jeff and thanks for not doing a Skydio video like it seems everybody is in to. I still think it is a One Trick Pony.

      Thanks Stan! Yeah, we'll see. Basically going to cost you $1500. That is a hefty sum for a one trick pony. Wouldn't make sense not to buy both the beacon and the controller. Add 2 batteries $$$. We'll see. i did add my name to the pre-order list, though my ship date is not until Q2 2020 so i have plenty of time to hear real world feedback.

    Nice video Jeff 👌😇...
    I don't get good results while using active track in the cities, too many object interference... rather I use active track only in the mountains when filming the athletes...

    Great video Jeff! I always learn something from you. I still have my MA which has been awesome. I'll have to try some of these RC moves when I'm out. On another note, what is your thoughts of the Skydio 2? I have one on reserve which is due to deliver in January. Reviews will be my final decision to follow through. I'd love to see you review this because you always do such thorough real word reviews. Thanks again for this video. Ray 👍😊

      Thanks RAPA Ent, i appreciate that. I am very interested in the Skydio 2. The promise of DJI Active Track falls short for me because it always loses the subject. I am quite active with running/cycling type activities and have wasted so much time in the past just trying to get a shot while riding a bike in a cornfield with no trees. For me, the point is not to get a 5 sec shot while I happen to be on a bike, but rather to film an action activity like a mountain descent on a bike and capturing the whole thing. If it can do that, along with adequate flying with the controller, it should be a winner.

      @@JeffGreeneChannel I totally agree....... You and I share the same interest in wanting to get great follow me video. As a motorcyclist and snowmobiler, the Skydio 2 would fill the needs that current DJI drones aren't capable of in certaing situations. I.M.O. DJI will come up with a simular drone as the Skydio 2 in the near future......... My only concern in regards to Skydio is future availability of batteries. When their $2000.00 R1 was discontinued so were the batteries. With the R1 being less than two years old, battery replacement should not be an issue. Thank you again Jeff, I always look forward to your reviews. Ray 👍😊

    Nice video, I use active track on stationar object a lot, but the bad thing on M2p is that it doesnt have course lock line on map in spotlight mode like it had in Mavic pro...

    • @JeffGreeneChannel
      @JeffGreeneChannel  4 года назад +1

      Yeah that would be very helpful on a moving target for sure. I had some close calls while practicing thinking i was fly towards an object while really flying away towards some trees 😮

    Did anyone else out there forget about Active Track? I sure did. I probably haven't used it in 4-5 months. Curious to know what else you guys are using Active Track for?
