The pick thickness would come into play with funk, and the middle pick-up for sure. Two and three note stabs are a trademark of Niles' comping style for sure, no question. Belated thumbs up for this, thx .
Awesome! I love how Pierce corrected you Marty regarding the G6 shape being an E minor chord and then you corrected him right back later on with the remark that the G6 is an E minor in the context of the low E added. My thanks to Tim Pierce for coming to your channel!
Wow Marty .. Guitar Jamz is getting some big names these days. Thanks to Tim Pierce for sharing some of his chops. they're perfect..like a robot.. but smooth like butter. Also, please at least say the words Eddie Hazel in one of your videos or he is going to haunt you .
Do have a cigar from pink floyd guitar solo lesson because I can't find one anywhere!!!! I would really appreciate and keep up those videos. You are really changing people lives with them
Think it's more of a general funkyish guitar lesson. Nile Rodgers is something of a genius, this kinda scratches the surface, but Rodgers is way beyond this.
Cool lesson man- thx! Loving the tim pierce stuff- keep em comin'. Why would you not use pinky to grab the sus4 on that last A chord (d-shape)? Just wondering- that seems easier to me. Just preference? Or am I missing something?
Awwwsome lesson! QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TIME SIGNATURE/RHYTHM & CHORD PROGRESSION : Tim u demonstrated playing a total of 6 notes before the rhythm pattern repeats. 1.) Is each note ur playing an 8th or a 16th note? I know it's all about the feel" but how would this fit into one single measure? 2.) Approx. how many 6-note patterns on Em are u playing before u switch to an A? And how many on A before u go back to Em? I've played guitar for many yrs. but the cool way a funky progression (ala James Brown's music, Chili Peppers, etc), stays on one chord & then jumps momentarily to the next chord has eluded me. Thanks in advance for your reply!
I don't underestand. It's like Marty is checking my thumb ups on youtube. I was watching like ten kinds of videos about All i have to do is drem. After like hour Marty posted video bout this song. today i was watching Nile Rodgers, liked like ten of his videos and after half ou hour. voila. here's tutorial:D thanks Marty :)
is this the guy who played on (affair of the heart) with springfield...that white strat HSS with a floyed? I'm 46 soon ill never ever forget that? anyone?
this ain't nile rodgers style it's just good regular funk rythm.nile doesn't jut do the classic up/down stroke motion he "fills the gaps" between two strokes like their were two guitars
your funk playing is good but its your style, if you want to sound like nile rogers he uses the neck pickup and your playing is to clean and you do not cut enough out, you can hear to much of what your playing, and do not get to hung up on what chords your playing just use your ears, just a tip if you care.
No offense. But, do the ones of you giving Tim Pierce the business about Nile Rodgers know his background? Do some research then wipe the egg off your face. Tim did more to funk up "the electric" than just about anyone else. Don't put a genius like Tim Pierce down. You are the only one that loses that battle.
the key word is '' u chose the cords '' that u wanted not the cords Nile Rogers used so its technically not Nile Rogers style its in your own style :) but u still play very good and im not here to bab and moan im just saying if u are going to try and back track some ones distinct style and make a video tutorial about it label the video with out Nile rogers name or in relation to any one im not here to see u guess or try to figure out what style pick ups Nile use ? '' forget Nile's i will use my own in stead '' but then u go to say u are doing a tutorial on Nile rogers style strumming i understand being convertible when u are playing there forth chose your own style. but a lot of you tube video tutorials lack-actual message there trying to get across
The pick thickness would come into play with funk, and the middle pick-up for sure. Two and three note stabs are a trademark of Niles' comping style for sure, no question. Belated thumbs up for this, thx .
Excellent. I discovered Nile Rodgers and this style of playing through Random Access Memories and glad I did. Tim Pierce is great
Awesome! I love how Pierce corrected you Marty regarding the G6 shape being an E minor chord and then you corrected him right back later on with the remark that the G6 is an E minor in the context of the low E added. My thanks to Tim Pierce for coming to your channel!

Great lesson.
Joseph Mickens No, look at the Nile Rogers YT video. He specifically says he uses 3, but he also hits an extra note between strums.

Interesting that some folks here are offering Tim some helpful tips.
If I'm not mistaken, Nile almost always plays with the pickup selector in position 5 -- neck pickup only
Awesome like always
awesome I have the same guitar but squier.
Nile uses the neck pick-up...that's his signaure sound.
Down, up, scratch, up, scratch, scratch..... Best advice for uncomfort in the downstairs evar. Thank you, sir.
neck and middle all day

DUSUSS doesn't seem to fit over a 4/4 bar. His down would be in a different spot from bar to bar. Is that right?
Watching this ft. a beer and my air guitar 😂
is this the guy who played on (affair of the heart) with springfield...that white strat HSS with a floyed? I'm 46 soon ill never ever forget that? anyone?

Nile tends to play Neck Pick up on The Hitmaker.
It a cool 😎 sound Marty but l can't play it right now
It's Chris Evans!!... (UK joke)
Marty should be as in depth as him, he is a good teacher
this ain't nile rodgers style it's just good regular funk rythm.nile doesn't jut do the classic up/down stroke motion he "fills the gaps" between two strokes like their were two guitars
Chraig Smb Not all of the time. From what I’ve heard, some songs he just does strumming and other songs he does fills and strumming.
Please do a lesson for what you know by two door cinema club :))
Marty can You put a tutoríal of radio head |paranoid android
Wait…you're not Marty...
This style of guitar is hard to play. Takes hours and hours of practice.

It would be easier to understand if you counted the beats.
RASGUEO FANKY 2:40 EXPLICACION
Tim looks like Drew Cary lol
Lurve the cap ..Marty...more cooler than Pharell's...hehehe....
Thumbs up for Highway to hell - AC/DC
Hey Marty why don't you make a son and then teach it
Sorry, still sound white lol
Nile is so much funkier, its about parts not strumming, this is over played and too much information.
silly...
