Shout out to anyone listening!! The practically perfect way to make home made rice Krispies is to heat the oil (I use coconut) to medium hi, or #7.5 in a medium size pot, then add only a cup of rice at a time for even cooking. If you can fford more oil you can use a bigger pot like in this video and set the strainer down in the pot. Strain through a metal seive into a metal bowl or other pot. Spread the puffed rice out on a baking sheet on parchment paper and put in a warm oven at medium low about 175°. !!! NOW THE SECRET !!! USE Minute Rice! Minute rice is pre cooked and pre dried, so all you have to do is fry it 😁 Enjoy.
Emily, ThanQ! You gave more instruction than this supposed instructional video. I'm like, she never said what it's cooked in! Glad I watched anyway & checked the comments. Kudos to you!
@@tushannamartin2074 I waited until the oil was really hot the I the rice in a metal sifter lowered it in the oil and when they pop I raised it back out.......it splashes a bit you should probably wear oven mitts
My kids just asked me to make them some Rice Krispy Treats for school snacks - but I don’t have the cereal .... what I do have is plenty of long grain white rice. Lol Definitely have to give this a try.
Can you please start from the very beginning, from taking the rice out of the bag, so we can see whether you boil or steam the rice first, hiow you dry it before you fry it, Thank you very much
I know this is old, but based on something similar with rice noodles, i imagine it is precooked rice right out the bag (ie minute rice) that is dry and not cooked prior to throwing in.
Oh well, i guess if you make them by deep frying the rice grains i’m afraid you’re right. But there’s still the salt method like, thats how they do it in India
i tried to do this without watching the video first and basically just added some oil and hard rice and it made the most disgusting yet delicious monstrosity
The amount of oil doesnt matter, the oil simply has to be enough so that all the rice is covered while they lie on the siv. (You could probably do it without using a siv too but then you would have to gather and fish out the crisps manually)

Agreed. Very important information left out there.@@momcomputer6461
Your instructions are way better then the video. Thanks so much ☺️
How long in the oven?
So much rice here in Thailand, but Krispies are not cheap here. The puffed rice is very cheap, so thanks! Now I know how to get them light brown.
I like how you make it look so easy. Basic video. Nice and short and informative
Did u try it ?
I made so many rice puffs after watching this.. yayy
Enjoy.

Use black salt instead of oil. Healthier and much nicer👍
What the heck is black salt
@@CleverBryan1normal salt put on black people's faces in Africa, they stay in the sun all day and the salt turns black
@@CleverBryan1salt that is black.
Mine didn't puff. And the rice was salty. What did i do wrong?
black salt smells like egg sulfur
Does the homemade rice krispies snap, crackle and pop?
This is great! How do you keep the rice from going rancid after the oil? Or do you use all of that within a few days?

how hot and what kind of oil was that????? did you do anything to the rice first or just go from bag/box to the oil??
Vegetable oil and it has to be very hot. The rice goes from the bag to the oil but add a little bit at a time.
Hope this helps
Cooked or uncooked
I didn't know a bowl of rice krispies had 3000 calories.. interesting

Did you soak the rice or wet it with water before dipping in hot oil?
What kind of oil do you use?
Can any rice be used. And must the rice be cooked before frying
Easy cook long grain rice and don’t cook the rice first. Thanks
Can i also use short grain rice
How long can you store it? Thank you!
Is the rice in your video steamed then fried or straight from the bag? is it long cooking rice or minute rice?
Parboiled rice
Does the homemade rice krispies make the snap, crackle and pop sound when splashed in milk?
So i can only use minute rice?
Must have pre cook rice , can’t use regular rice .. won’t puff….
I used to cook first the rice and let it dry under the sun. Did you cook first the rice?
Bests vid ever from chef smithy
Cara buat atau cara menggoreng ?!
Thx
Can washed rice be used after it has been dried
The hot oil should kill any germs.
Was this instant rice? Give some actual directions.
Yes. She does say easy rice in the video but that is basically "instant" or "power boiled" rice.
Parboiled rice
How long can this last
Couple of weeks before it loses the crunchy texture.
Is that water with salt? Or salt with oil?
So it's just basically instant rice and very hot vegetable oil right? I might have to give this a try sometime.
Yes it's very simple and goes great with a cup of tea. Sprinkling sugar would make it taste even better.
How many cups of oil should I put in the pot to make rice krispies cereal?

What type of oil and does using short grain rice work as well
Yes they do work but they'll look a bit more stout. Also I believe they're using vegetable oil, it's what I used and they did work ☺️

What the f*ck dude that’s not rice crispy treats. It didn’t even stick to each other it’s just plain rice.
All you need to do is throw on some melted marshmallows genius...
Use parboiled rice and you get the rice Krispys. Then add melted marshmallows
