- I decided to upload the final 17 seconds of the 1990 Big Game between Stanford and Cal in its entirety. This footage is from a replay of the game and the only cuts are from the replay. The only change I made was adding the score at the bottom. In this clip, Stanford scores nine points in 12 seconds for an improbable victory over Cal.
Enjoy watching Jason Palumbis, Ed McCaffrey, Dan Byers, John Hopkins, and others avenge The Play.
This video also features footage of head coach Denny Green, future Baltimore Ravens head coach Brian Billick, future Newark mayor Cory Booker, future Stanford head coaches Tyrone Willingham (an assistant coach in this video) and David Shaw (a reserve wide receiver), and future Tampa Bay Buccaneer great John Lynch (then a backup quarterback) roaming the Stanford sidelines.
At least on this night for Dennis Green, the Bears were NOT what they thought they were.
Pretty amazing game with a great outcome for this Stanford fan. Also, that was quite a Stanford football team. I saw Stanford players David Shaw (now Stanford HC), Bob Whitfield (NFL All Pro and father of current Stanford safety Cody Whitfield), Cory Booker (NJ Junior Senator), John Lynch (future NFL All Pro), Ed MacCaffrey (future NFL All Pro), Touchdown Tommy Vardell, and of course future NFL Head Coach, Denny Green. That was a stellar Stanford Team!
RIP Dennis Green. Signed a Chicago Bears fan.
They didn't let'em off the hook!
I was there in 1982 for The Play, I worked for Cal Men's Athletics, and I can tell you that there has never been -- there will never be any equivalent, much less "revenge" for that moment in the history of sports.
I was at the Big Game in 1982 and this one in 1990. The latter corrected the former.
The Play was just that--one play. In this game, Stanford needed FIVE improbable plays to go their way--and they all did.
OMG. Is that Cory Booker and John Lynch at
Went to my first Cal game a few years after this. The atmosphere there used to be so special. So sad to see what has become of the program. Same with Stanford.
WE LOVE STANFORD!
what, they took over 11 minutes to play 17 secs of football ?????.. your kidding me !!!
Thanks for posting this replay. I attended the game. Fantastic game to watch in person!
That Mccafrey family has good fucking genes, my god
RIP Denny :'(
McCafsreys are still doing it
Best served cold.
Revenge for ‘82 started in 1984 and has been going on pretty much ever since.
What a game that was!
still sweet after all these years.
Back when the hash marks were very wide. Interesting choices for coaches back in those days.
