God do I ever miss video stores, so many memories were made going into mom and pop video stores. We weren't old enough to rent R rated movies, but when the clerk asked, "are you sure your parents are ok with this?' and a simple yes was good enough. They didn't care. I absolutely would love more of these videos.
i loved going to the mom and pop video chain in our area when I was a young kid. I'd have to go through the horror section to rent a Godzilla tape and man it was like running through a haunted house. the VHS art work really cared the crap outta me. also, our mom and pop chains always had a wood panel wall.
My cousin and our best friend used to go to Palestine TX on the weekend eat at Little Mexico and rent movies. Both of them are no longer with us. Seems like a completely different lifetime now 😢
Mine was a Ma & Pa shop called Video Time! It was the best damn feeling I remember renting a VCR along with about 8-10 tapes every weekend looking for the most disturbing shit known to mankind..A whole lot of banned in 52 countries stickers was getting a rent from my twisted ass!! Gr8 idea brother!!
I had that Thorn/EMI Dawn of the Dead poster when I was around 15 and wish I had held on to stuff like that. I also worked in a local Mom & Pop video store off and on for about a decade starting in 1988 or '89. Those were good times!
I loved those independent video stores, because they were always cheaper than Blockbuster and had great deals. This one store gave you a free bag of popcorn with every rental. This other store would track your rentals; and every five or 10 game / movie rentals in the year, you get a free one. I think freebies were unlimited...
Going to the video store every week. And sometimes a couple of times a week. Was a ritual for me. Discovered so many movies. That I would probably never heard of. If it wasn't for my local store.
You need to get these memories on the record. Otherwise, the future generations won't believe it ever happened. When I first rented Dawn of the Dead on CBS-Fox video in Australia. It was missing something like 25 minutes. Had a bunch of scenes cut out or cut short. Still don't know why. Other copies out there had the full version. Punishment for owning a Betamax I suppose. My little mind got so confused. Anyway. Meatballs 3 played at my local cinema in 1987. You say Patrick Dempsey and Meatballs 3 and I laugh. It is good to laugh. Enjoyed the show.
Great video! My spot was Westside Video in Hanover Ma. Place ruled. My Mom was a regular so they knew who I was and let me rent whatever I wanted. I watched so many horror movies when I was way to young to see them haha. I became the plug for my friends to rent stuff that there parents wouldn't let them see. Another fond memory of the place, it was in a strip mall that had a bad septic so it always reeked of shit hahaha.

My parents owned video stores in the 80’s & 90’s. Great for a kid born in 1980 and had ALL the video games growing up.
Please keep doing these! I grew up with video stores so these make me very happy. Ty again and keep the great stuff coming please!
I’d love to see more of these videos. Not only for the nostalgia factor, but it shows another side of you that many probably don’t see too often.
Yes. More please. I'm 45 years old, so I lived the video store days.
That Prism Entertainment intro is legendary. I get such a sweet sense of nostalgia hearing that sound effect!
Yes just the sound is all I need boz.
100% would love to see more of these. Love hearing stories from videos stores from back in the day.
More to come! Thank you!
Loll Mac and Me. I'll never forget the dance scene in McDonalds. I hope someone will put it on disc as crazy as that sounds I want to see it again

We had a lot of local renegade shops in the area back in the day... they all had a dirty movie room too lol
@DEADPIT This place had the saloon doors, I remember that you could see above them and I would peek in to see the boobies on the VHS covers.
