I love your swatch cards! My system is doing 3.5x2.5 swatch cards putting them in A5 card holder that holds 4 per page double sided for a total of 8 per page and putting them in an A5 binder. I take the binder with me when shopping at my local store so I can see what colors I already have. Super helpful! But the little box is such a nice idea too!
Using a binder takes true dedication to organization, I tried doing that in the past but I was always taking them out of their sleeve and forgetting to put them back. Though your idea of using an A5 binder is so much more handy. That is easier for taking shopping vs what I had done which was use a regular binder sizes. I may try doing this too. ☺️

New to the channel but so glad RUclips suggested it to me. Would love a flip through of the book you used to record colours for mixes and colour schemes. Your idea of doing a video showing how different art supplies react to different papers/surfaces sounds great. Looking forward to seeing that.
Hello, thank you ☺️ So glad you enjoyed this video. When I do a review of the Stilman and Birn Alpha, Ill make sure to include my swatch book and do a flip through.
As far as the glass palette, 6:06, you can actually make your own! I picked up a frame at the dollar store and a neutral gray acrylic paint and just painted the glass gray, covered the corners and I use it as a palette regularly!
@@leahevergreenart Ah! Thank you so much for replying! I'm so touched! Thank YOU for sharing so much of what you enjoy and what works for you - I honestly love seeing what you're using and trying to find new things or new ways to use old things :)
Yes, Paula--a friend turned me onto that, and what an awesome alternative. I mean, you could save serious money buying a frame (8.5x11", 5x7", etc) and use the rest of the money that you would have spent on the glass pallet to buy try other supplies. That's a great alternative Paula. 🤩
You are very talented! Also, your swatch cards may be the most useful art tip I’ve seen on RUclips in years. I immediately went up and cut out some cards and followed your lead. What a helpful tool! Thank you and Happy Holidays! 😊
Great video!! Thank you so much for sharing your favorites with us. 💕 I am waiting to see your Winter and Summer palettes. I would recomend you the Pyrrol Orange by RS it is stunning!! Have a lovely day ☺
Hi Leah, new follower here. I love your videos and the artwork you do. I love the textures and color combos--awesome. I agree with what you said about the inconsistent sheen finish from various brands of acrylic paints. I painted a mustang horse scene and I mixed my acrylic brands often. The Golden brand has a lot of really shiny colors--too shiny and you could see on the painting that some of the areas were shiny and others weren't. It didn't matter after varnishing it, but if you don't like to varnish and some of your paints are shinier than others--that's annoying. I also love a satin finish and will try the Charvin acrylic paint. I wonder if Jackson's has it in addition to Jerry's Art O'Rama. That pinkish-brown, color called "Tanned" looks incredible and I wonder if they have a portrait set. I'm going to look for it. Thanks for all the great ideas, will be waiting for your next supply video. Love those.
Hello, Thank you for following and linking my content. I just noticed that Jacksons now has Charvin for oil paints so they may, down the road, start carrying the acrylic paint too. “Tanned” is a beautiful colour indeed ☺️
love watching these kinds of videos, and learning about new products. Currently making swatch cards now! If you're wanting to try the most expensive watercolours, like daniel smith, they often offer dot cards, which have the whole line of colours on a paper, with just a dab of paint, so you can test out without committing to a whole tube
That U. Go box looks amazing, but a bit beyond my price range at the moment 😅 It looks a lot thinner than other pochade boxes I've looked at which is a bonus for me, though I'm curious as to how it might work with needing to carry paints around in addition. I also love that you use Royal & Langnickel bruses - I use their crafter's choice for gouache because they are a lot stiffer than my watercolour brushes and don't hold as much water, both benefits for me. They're also pretty cheap so I don't feel too guilty about being rough with them and doing big emotional/impasto techniques
The U.go is so nice, I researched for what feels like a whole year before committing to the U.Go. You can’t really store paint in the box, at least it won’t fit my acrylic paint tubes but I don’t mind carrying a small makeup bag turned paint carrier. I haven’t tried the R&L crafter brushes yet, but that sounds amazing!
I also want to try the chubby stabilos my art store sells them individual so o might get a few colors. My new art supply this years so far that I’ve enjoyed are the liquitex soft body acrylics and the caran d’Ache neocolors II
Liquitex’ s soft body and acrylic bottles are cool, and aren’t the Newcolor II’s so fun to use?! ☺️ I’ve been using them a lot more this year and keep buying more and more
Leah, thank you for sharing. I have heard a lot of favorable things about Roman Szmal watercolor paints. I'll need to give it a go sometime in 2023. Very nice use of the Fountain pen by Jacques Herbin 350 Vert Atlantide. It's a favorite of mine, and I use it often for journaling, but I love how you applied it to your artwork.
Great video! And thank you for introducing me to Charvin - that sounds exactly like what I’ve been looking for. I hate the glossy plastic look of acrylic.
The gelatin in the watercolour paper is not something you should be worried about, or the paper fibers for that matter. On the other hand, paints, inks or wood of the pencils.. Now that's something any pet owners should worry and be careful about. The best thing imo is to either completely restrict their access to the art area or teach them to not chew, lock or walk there. Even just walking can be a problem as they lick themselves after.
Hello, Thank you that is good to know about the paper, I still think its weird that that its the only art supply and paper he is attracted to. My puppy is really good about not trying to get up onto the table with his paws or sniff but he did when I used that Archers. I agree pet owners do need to be careful with our supplies and our fur babies.
Royal and Langnickel Brushes, that's the name. My local Walmart always carries them and they are pretty decent and cheap. I mainly use those for oil and soft pastels paintings.
Yes! That’s the name 😁 they are great cause if you do end up breaking them, they aren’t expensive to replace. Walmart eh? Need to remember that for the future.
If your budget allows it, try acrylic gouache. It's basically high quality acrylic paint that dries matt. It's very pigmented and fast drying. Turner is amazing quality, but it's expensive since it's a Japanese export. Liquitex has a cheaper option with a tiny bit of satin sheen to it, available in nice squeezy bottles.
Thank you for the suggestion, I do have some acrylic gouache and you are right. It is nice and dries matte. I’ve been trying to get myself back into using it this year.

Add one more voice to the chorus praising those little swatch cards! Your brush assortment was very interesting, too! Thanks for sharing this!
Oh, thank you so much 😊

Paula that is a great alternative to buying one, thank you for sharing 😊

Oh, thank you, you are so kind. I’m so glad you found the swatch cards to be a helpful tip. Happy Holiday’s!
Can we have a sketchbook tour? Your sketchbooks are beautiful.
How do you like your sketchbook tours, with commentary or music?

ohh, thank you for the suggestion :)
There is paper for acrylic painting already, you don’t even need to put Gesso on it. 🙌🏻

I didn't know Jerry's ships to Canada!
what colours did you use in your combined palette :)
The geletain in the paper is the same thing in jelly sweets like harabo. It's boiled cow hoofs.
Well… that explains it.

Those brushes are royal langnickel brushes
hahha my dog eats arches paper too
It’s so weird, isn’t it
