Thank you!!! As a single woman I could use all the help I can get on car repairs. And as much fun as it is to do hand signals in below freezing temps, I'm stoked to feel confident enough to give this a shot. You have no idea how much I appreciate you making such a helpful video!
Just bought my first Jeep, a 2004 Grand Cherokee. Your video was extremely helpful and saved me money. I had to re solder multiple pins due to cracks from years of stress bouncing down the road. It is a minor miracle that the solder held so many years supporting the weight of the massive copper relays on the circuit board. I would guess that almost 100% of the failures are the same design defect and anyone handy with a soldering iron can save money. Funny thing is just as I fixed this the window fell down as I closed the door. Welcome to Jeep ownership, on to the next repair video...
Thanks! I took the relay out didn't have a solder gun so I went to buy a new relay but it was 65$! So I bought a 14$ solder gun and fixed it! You're the man
I've had this intermittent problem on my 2001 WJ for about 6 years. I watched this video, reflowed the solder on the connections and it worked! Thank you!
I had to change out the flasher fuse on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Everything you described in the video is the same except for the lower dash piece which has 3 screws and one bolt. Great video. Saved a lot of money doing it myself.
I just followed the instructions in this video and fixed my intermittent left and right blinker, which would both stop working for days at a time. I didn't have to remove as much of the dash to get access to the relay, and I only had to solder one connection, the one on the opposite end of the board as the one you soldered. I never would have tried this without seeing someone else do it. Saved some money and feel accomplished now! Thanks for posting, it was a big help.
I. Having to do the same. Or I'd flick on and off my hazards and it works. I'll ha e to swap out my relay soon I. Sure. Did your pro kem come back or did you fix it yet ?
I want to personally thank you for making this video man. I don't even want to think about what a mechanic would charge for something as simple as this.
Thanks for the help...mechanic was trying to charge just over 90 dollars for the part and 40 for labor...I bought it for 50 bucks and did it in less than 20 mins...much love bro..
Thank you, saved me a lot of time and money! I soldered just one cracked connection and now it works again. Without your video I would not know where the relay is not to talk about fixing it! Thanks man.
Great video! I had an intermittent problem with my blinkers, but the hazards worked. Pulled the relay and saw cracked solder joints. Resolved them and now everything is working great. Thanks!
Well I soldered my relay switch ( 1st one on the left looking from the top, pegs away from me ) and only had right turn and emergency flashers. Took it back out and soldered all the pegs, installed it and it's working like a champ.(You're the man.) Thanks.
Awesome. To think how long I drove around with intermittent or not working turn signals when your instructions led me to a 20-minute repair. Now I'm making turns and changing lanes all day just because I can. Lol.
Thank you so very much you don't know how much of a blessing this video was. I'm a single mother and mentioned the blinkers didn't work and they said it was a relay and to look for it on youtube. So i did and i got it replaced. Thank you so very much
Thank you so much. This fixed my car. I tried the normal fuse at first but it didn’t work so I bought a new relay and now it works. Also thanks for showing how to take apart the dash haha. That really helped
WOW! Excellent video. Initially i did not know what was wrong with my blinkers and hazards on my 04 Cherokee. I followed your instructions. but didnt have to unbolt the last part to get to the relay. just used long pliers (tongue & groove joint pliers) and carefully removed it. Found same problem as you found on the circuit board, small crack. then just re-soldered that area, popped it back in. sure enough, blinkers started working as well as the hazards. Thank you sooo much.
I had this same problem, and I changed the control light module, same as the one you changed, and it worked, thank god for your video, it helped me alot. I should have made my own video for girls, so they wont be afraid of doing some work on their cars. Thank You!
Thank you so much for making this video! You helped me to shove it in my mechanic brother's face that I can fix things without his help. Plus, having my left turn signal back is so beautiful! I'm looking forward to not pissing people off behind me when I'm turning left and they don't know it.
Thanks for making this video! It really gave me the confidence to do it myself! I decided to just replace the relay, but I saved the broken one in case I learn to solder one day. ;) One interesting difference my '99 had was the knee panel also has a phillips screw on each side of the steering column on top, identical to the one on the left side.
Thank You so much man!, Had the same problem got under there like you said some solder and it worked. Once again Thank You! and if your ever in NYC lemme buy you a beer!
Wonderfully clear video. Have this problem with UK Jeep GC Overland, and just fixed the problem by following this video guide. The garage has had 3 goes at this. Also, and most interesting to me, is that the fault in the flasher unit was the same as yours. The same end terminal not making good contact. I poked about with my Fluke Avo a bit, and the actual fault is a killer to find, unless you’ve been there. When I apply pressure to the top of the terminal with one probe, I get continuity. When I release pressure, it fails. If Chrysler have a sprung “bed of nails” tester, the nail will press against the terminal edge and show continuity. When the test fixture lets go, an open circuit re-appears. It’s a horrible one. Also, what a pig to get at !! So, top marks for the detail, clear instruction and clear flow ... do A, then B, next C etc. Matt (aged 62, and an engineer)
My friend you must have fingers of steal to pull that out. I have to thank you again for heater core and ac evap dashboard removal because I went back to that one to remove the fuse screws then I pulled down on the panel to get full access to the relay. Got a good grip and pulled it out. Swapped and problem fixed. Many many thanks!! Now I want to pry open the old relay and see what the problem was both tabs are really tight on it.
Thanks for the Info, I pulled the repay, checked it out, but I noticed that the prongs had a slight film of not electrical contact spray gut something like possibly a slight film of gunk, should have taken a picture, all the contacts inside the relay were fine. pushed back in and worked like a champ. I am glad as I gave the new Relay from Chrysler at over $150.00 to my wife to "Make Sure You Remember Where You Place it" We couldn't find it. My Wife's is a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with 86,000 and looks like new. Runs Like new faster than my 1991 560 Sec, out of the hole, So Thank You. One more thing, I have found on several different occasions such as oil pressure sending unit, it Pays to Just Purchas the True Chrysler, Part especially anything to do with sensors, sending units and relays, Believe me, they are always more $, but it solves the problem instead of "Doing it 2-3 times with an aftermarket part. I have been there trying to "Scrimp". That should really be the case on any part on any vehicle you replace unless it was a lemon to start with, 2 sets of rotors in the front warped within 20,000, replaced with Slotted Drilled Rotors and have not had the problem since. GodSpeed, Jim "P" Jenuine-Motor-Cox Engines
I did not see I crack so I bought the multi function switch, that did not fix it so I took it apart again soldered the same one you did and BAM! FIXED!! Awesome! thanks for helping out.
Thanks dude! This helped me replace my relay and my blinkers/hazards are working again! I got the part from Oreilly, and they price-matched Amazon, so I saved about $25!
Thanks for your help, On my jeep I just hope it is the same problem as yours... Saving me $50 for the module. My turn signals are the only problem with mine and work once in a while. The hazards work fine.
This worked like a charm. My right turn signal would stick and only flash once and then stay on. I pulled the relay and saw a very small crack in the solder. I reapplied some solder and everything is working again.
thank for the info.fellow jeep own . I have bine racking my brain for awhile on this problem. Ur a god send. Now i can let my hair grow back in thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video! Got everything working again on my 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited. You're instructions were invaluable! Also, LOVE your headlights shown in the video. Who makes 'em and where did you purchase? Thanks so much!!
Vidio was perfect.Soldered relay.Relay partially worked.Took out resoldered it,same results.Had to by new one.All is well.Thankyou it was easy to get at. DICK
Great Vid instructions to get into the relay. I followed the instructions and looked at the relay. I visually inspected the soldered points on the circuit board and they were ok. I used a multimeter and a 12 VDC power supply to check out the relay and its components and they were ok. So I remembered about relay problems...relay contacts. When they are used often, they either get welded together or the contacts carbon for some reason?? I cleaned them with contact cleaner...I put it back as per video. Tested the emergency and side blinkers...wa'la...great, they work!
thank you after months of my blinker working on and off - too auto elect twice and a 600.00 invoice hubby did this today all found crack and soldiered up. fingers crossed - Dianne australia
Thank you sir. This was a very helpful video. When I took the relay out and inspected it, I didn't see any cracks. I decided to add solder to it anyway and what do you know? My blinkers are working again. Thanks again for the video.
great vid, thanks. solder brocken in exact same place, didn't have a soldering iron so just pushed solder back together with screwdriver, will solder up later.
Great video I'm having the same problem idk if it's my relay or the signal switch itself as I have front hazards and no rear hazards and I have right side signal lights but no left signals!!! My jeep is weird!!!
Thank you for such a complete and detailed DIY video. However, I have a question. What is that mysterious blue wire stretched across the bottom? I have that same blue wire but it's so long someone had coiled it up and elec-taped it to some other wires and now it hangs down. I live in Alaska and it's too cold for e-tape to stick it back up and zip-ties get so brittle they just snap. I don't want to start cutting and shortening wires at random and end up with my heater not working. Thanks again.
The AC/Heater only works on full blast. I think I changed a solenoid under the glove box. It keeps going out. Is there an easy fix like this one, for that issue? Great video. Thanks
Happened to be looking for turn signal info on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 4.7L Power and Heated everything for a 2001. They had a Blend Door problem Dual Heater System from the start. I have had my Blend doors and servos changed 3 times. The last set of doors and servos installed were an aftermarket, guaranteed to never fail and if they or it does, it covers the installation /Labor/everything. I am an old Shade Tree Mechanic and have had the dash out once, that was enough, while you are in that deep it pays to have a look at your Heater Core, and a couple of other relays you can not get to without the dash being completely removed down to the windshield. Godspeed Jim "P" Jenuine-Motor- Cox Engines
thankssss guy,. wasn't looking forward to diagnosing this today, great place to start .... for future reference ,,,a great and cheap tool to use to yank out relays and the like whole is believe it or not ,,a house paint can opener ,, the 4" looped handle type that fits on a key chain ..
so my issue and fix was a bit different.,. it seems to me that one or more of the blade connectors that the flasher plugs into is loose er something,, if i hold the flasher relay up tight into its socket ,everything works fine...so my super easy quick fix for this is a few well placed dabs of hot glue just to brace it...
Thanks for making this video it helped me a lot. I replaced the relay but it only made the right turn signal work. When I turn my hazards on only the right one shows up on my control panel. Could it be a fuse?
So Ik this videos old but I’m 16 and I just bought a 2004 Grand Cherokee and only my left blinker doesn’t work it does work in front or back is this what I still need to do
Hope fully this will also fix my issue as well been having the same problem as well the blinkers would randomly stop working it's not a everyday thing,by the way how many miles do you have on your jeep now?
I sold this one and bought an 07 model. This one started having transmission issues and I dumped too much money into it and it was never working properly again. I have a couple of questions videos on the new one but nothing major yet.
@@link375 same the jeep just die on me the other day while I was driving,I had enough of the car and I dumped so much money into it already but keeps breaking Down,I'm going to the dealership Monday and see if u can get a new vehicle.
Not sure if you're still responding, but I have a similar issue, although it's not exactly the same. My left blinker will work infrequently, but my right blinker and hazards always work. Already replaced the switch in the steering column. Is the relay the next option? Would that react differently to my hazard switch and blinker switch? It seems odd.
My blinkers and flashers in my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee sometimes don't work. If I shut the car off, wait a minute and restart they work again. Is this the same issue you dealt with or is it something else?
Having trouble disconnecting the C-1 and C-2 Junction Blocks from fuse panel so that I can lower it and gain access to the flasher relay for removal, since it's stuck. Loosened the 10mm bolts but cannot disconnect/remove junction blocks. Is there some locking tabs or other release "trick" to allow removal? Also, LOVE the headlights on your WJ!! Who makes them and where did you purchase? Thanks for the video!
I have a question bro my left blinker gets stuck when I try to turn left and also when I put the hazard lights on it also gets stuck. Can this technique solve the problem? Please let me know ASAP. Thank you
Oh maybe you could help me I have a 2001 Jeep grand Cherokee brake lights are working when I press the brake light on it blows the brake feels 15 amp aalso when you turn the parking lights on the app think of this light to come on the third light comes on and it looks like the brake lights light up
So I have the same problem with a 03 Cherokee. Turn signal won’t work, but emergency lights do...so after watching this I figured problem solved. I bought a new relay instead of fixing it. Once I installed it. I still wasn’t working. What could the problem be? Ive checked all the fuses too...any help?
Undertaking this today... Gosh, that relay is hard to come by, and a bit expensive at that website and doesn't ship for 1-2 months? Anyone found anything cheaper and local? Very useful video. Thanks.
Link375 what year is your jeep? I have 1999 jeep grand cherokee and the left blinker would work for a while then stop I called my local dealer and they told me that my jeep doesn't have a relay just a flasher.
I just traded for a 2002 jeep grand cherokee and when I got it the flashers and hazards haven't worked I changed the relay with a new one even changed fuses but same problem any ideas?
Thank you!!! As a single woman I could use all the help I can get on car repairs. And as much fun as it is to do hand signals in below freezing temps, I'm stoked to feel confident enough to give this a shot. You have no idea how much I appreciate you making such a helpful video!

9 years later and this video was a better option than going to the mechanic just to wiggle the relay a bit. ❤
I had to change out the flasher fuse on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Everything you described in the video is the same except for the lower dash piece which has 3 screws and one bolt. Great video. Saved a lot of money doing it myself.

I literally smacked my dash and my blinkers came back, I'm mad it was that easy thanks for sharing your knowledge
I. Having to do the same. Or I'd flick on and off my hazards and it works. I'll ha e to swap out my relay soon I. Sure. Did your pro kem come back or did you fix it yet ?
Nicely done! I especially like how you demonstrated that the fix worked by testing your work. So many creators on RUclips don’t do this.
I want to personally thank you for making this video man. I don't even want to think about what a mechanic would charge for something as simple as this.

Want to say thanks buddy. I had the problem this afternoon and I fixed it within one hour!! Brilliant video!! Mike
Thanks for taking the time to make and post this. We followed your procedure and it worked, saving us $70.00 for a new relay. Much appreciated! :)
Well I soldered my relay switch ( 1st one on the left looking from the top, pegs away from me ) and only had right turn and emergency flashers. Took it back out and soldered all the pegs, installed it and it's working like a champ.(You're the man.) Thanks.
Exactly same as mine, I couldn't see that any of the existing solders were bad, but added a bit to each, and all working like a treat.
Awesome. To think how long I drove around with intermittent or not working turn signals when your instructions led me to a 20-minute repair. Now I'm making turns and changing lanes all day just because I can. Lol.

This was exactly what I needed. I replaced the relay and it worked perfectly. Thank you so much!
Your wisdom transcends time, it worked flawlessly on my 2018 Jeep Renegade
😆😆fiat is crap. Only took two years huh?
Thank you so much for making this video! You helped me to shove it in my mechanic brother's face that I can fix things without his help. Plus, having my left turn signal back is so beautiful! I'm looking forward to not pissing people off behind me when I'm turning left and they don't know it.
This was very helpful. I got pulled over due to this and plan on fixing today My blinkers had been working off and on so thanks for sharing this
Thanks for making this video! It really gave me the confidence to do it myself! I decided to just replace the relay, but I saved the broken one in case I learn to solder one day. ;)
One interesting difference my '99 had was the knee panel also has a phillips screw on each side of the steering column on top, identical to the one on the left side.
My Turn Signals are having exactly same problem as yours, Thank you for this posting. GREAT SOLUTION !!!
Thank You so much man!, Had the same problem got under there like you said some solder and it worked. Once again Thank You! and if your ever in NYC lemme buy you a beer!
Okay so what do you recommended when both freshly soldered and brand new part do not fix the problem?
Wonderfully clear video. Have this problem with UK Jeep GC Overland, and just fixed the problem by following this video guide. The garage has had 3 goes at this.
Also, and most interesting to me, is that the fault in the flasher unit was the same as yours. The same end terminal not making good contact. Got a good grip and pulled it out. Swapped and problem fixed. Many many thanks!! Now I want to pry open the old relay and see what the problem was both tabs are really tight on it.

Very helpful clip! My trouble is only with the left flasher but will follow your directions to repair and hopefully resolve.
This certainly helped me out a LOT! Thank you for posting/sharing! Unfortunately, I couldnt solder mine. Had to buy a new one. Thanks again.
I added the blinker fluid..erm solder per this video and it worked like a charm! Thank you very much!
Jsut followed your instructions and replaced relay. Worked perfectly. Thanks for your video!
This worked like a charm. My right turn signal would stick and only flash once and then stay on. I pulled the relay and saw a very small crack in the solder. I reapplied some solder and everything is working again.
This video was great, It solved the problem.Thank you so much for doing this kind of videos, saved s lot of money !
I had this problem as well, and re soldering that first terminal was the trick. Thank You!
Hello from Lithuania and thank you for the video. It helped a lot. ✌

Also had problems with the blinkers (on and off) over this past year.
Problem solved....
Great video! Got everything working again on my 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited. You're instructions were invaluable! Also, LOVE your headlights shown in the video. Who makes 'em and where did you purchase? Thanks so much!!

Excellent video thanks a lot for your help. My turn signals have been intermittent for some time now. Remember that God loves you.....
Thank you so much for uploading this video.
It really helped me out.
Thank you again 👍
Thank you, my cherokee present the same failure and watching the video I could repair smoothly.
Thank you this video. my 2001 JGC relay was just loose. Save me a lot.
Great video I'm having the same problem idk if it's my relay or the signal switch itself as I have front hazards and no rear hazards and I have right side signal lights but no left signals!!! My jeep is weird!!!
Thanks for the video soldered the module and the signals work perfect now.

Happened to be looking for turn signal info on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the 4.7L Power and Heated everything for a 2001. They had a Blend Door problem Dual Heater System from the start. I have had my Blend doors and servos changed 3 times. Hi. Do you have a green backlit there on the dash? :)
Thanks for making this video it helped me a lot. I replaced the relay but it only made the right turn signal work. When I turn my hazards on only the right one shows up on my control panel. Could it be a fuse?
So Ik this videos old but I’m 16 and I just bought a 2004 Grand Cherokee and only my left blinker doesn’t work it does work in front or back is this what I still need to do
Thanks for sharing the video and the knowledge
Thank you that was very interesting im having same problem great video
Valeu!!! Eu estou com esse mesmo problema. Agora vou consegui eu mesmo resolver. Muito agradecido pela orientação tecnica. Abração.
I have this same problem. did you ever find a solution?
I did, apparently it was an issue with the flasher, my mechanic fixed it.
Awesome video tutorial!...Thank you for posting. I'll let ya know how this works out for me.
My blinkers and flashers in my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee sometimes don't work. If I shut the car off, wait a minute and restart they work again. Is this the same issue you dealt with or is it something else?
that was on of the symptoms, typically it's worse when it gets cold
@@link375 So if I replace the relay switch that will solve the problem?
@@scottjohnson6455 possibly, try it out. You have nothing to lose
Thanks for the video!
ill do this. but... why is the light on after you disconnected the battery?
Yooo this just saved me like 300 bucks ur a god lmao love this shit
I have a question bro my left blinker gets stuck when I try to turn left and also when I put the hazard lights on it also gets stuck. Can this technique solve the problem? Please let
me know ASAP. Thank you
Great video. Helped me out loads. Thank you
thank you for the video save me a lot a money
Thank you so much i have my left blinker again

Did what you did in the vid ... worked! .... thank you so much ... your the man. Thank You! You made me look smart! to my wife. again, .... thank you!
Your Blinker switch needs to be replaced
Undertaking this today... Gosh, that relay is hard to come by, and a bit expensive at that website and doesn't ship for 1-2 months? Anyone found anything cheaper and local? Very useful video. Thanks.
I will get my hubby to try hope it works for my 97 Jeep Grande Cherokee Laredo
good luck!
Exactly what I wanted to see. Thanks!
Link375 what year is your jeep? I have 1999 jeep grand cherokee and the left blinker would work for a while then stop I called my local dealer and they told me that my jeep doesn't have a relay just a flasher.
I just traded for a 2002 jeep grand cherokee and when I got it the flashers and hazards haven't worked I changed the relay with a new one even changed fuses but same problem any ideas?
probably a shorted wire somewhere.
Great tip and it works too 😉👍
I just hit right there where you said and it started working...crazy
+Hunnits Gee it'll probably stop working when it gets hot though. But now you know how to properly fix it
