The first tunnel was really cool , but going into that creek tunnel is much more adventurous than I would have expected. I surely wouldn’t have gone through it but thank You for doing it. That was Very interesting.
You're welcome. I've gotten braver in my old age! Exploring these old rail line has made me face some of my fears, as I am not good with heights and I'm on the claustrophobic side. Still don't like either of those things, but I've gotten better. Curious to see the other one of these tunnels, which is way up past Zarn Station.
Brave, dumb...depends on your perspective! Glad you enjoyed it though. Not usually my thing as I am a bit claustrophobic, but I was curious to see what it looked like. Looking forward to seeing the other one way father west.
No idea what the cost of the creek tunnel would be in today's dollars, just that it was mighty expensive. Interesting I've never heard of anything like this before.
Yes, it certainly a different piece of infrastructure. I'm curious to see what the other one on the other side of Zarn Station looks like. As for the cost, at least this tunnel was on a piece of grade that stayed in use for another 75 years. All the other projects that were part of this contract, including the Strawberry Creek Bridge, were abandoned in 1925. They were only used for seven years or less before they were discarded.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that! You are brave walking through that rock tunnel with the water in there. Great explore 👍

Any idea where the iron ore went ? Hamilton? Sault ste marie?
According to this article, the Griffith Mine near Red Lake was owned by Stelco, so maybe Hamilton?
