@2:50 Diane made a VERY COMMON mistake in converting units when pricing gasoline/petrol. She quoted the US price in US CUSTOMARY GALLONS (3.8L), but the European price in IMPERIAL GALLONS (4.55L). The US is still cheaper, but not as much as she thinks.
The US is not, and never has been, on the Imperial System of measurements.
A channel called Family Freedom has many videos showing items and comparing grocery stores and their costs in the U.S and Europe. Some of the videos show both stores in one video. They even found some grocery liquidation stores that sell things extremely cheap to prevent food waste. Which I think you would like as a cheap shopper like myself. I is also places I don't believe most people know about these stores. Both in the U.S and Europe. Can you please react to some of their videos.
20 - The Haagen Dazs prices were way off. Yes, they have the price at 6 dollars and change, but most people don't pay that price. The big grocery stores constantly run sales on ice cream, I get Haagen Dazs paying 2 for $6 regularly. If it's not on sale this week, then Ben and Jerry's will be. Or some other brand. But it's rare when they don't have any sales going on.

Yep. You tip the scantily clad lady who brings the drinks, but you don't pay for them. Ditto suites in the hotel.
If you’re only interested in drinking beer or a small, low quality cocktail AND you’re gambling, yes. If you want even a mid range cocktail, you’re never getting that for free in a casino in LV.
@@lauraweiss7875 Never??? I think you meant today. I used to get constant letters from casinos in the 80's (casinos gone now) offering me a free suite and comped meals ahead of time. Just show up and everything free. And I was never asked to pay for a drink, no matter what was ordered. The old days are gone, but they did exist.
The contributors in this post haven't been to Vegas for quite a while. Freebies are so much harder today than in the past. Gambling is no longer the be all it once was for casinos, so they've cut the freebies.

Agreed. In the US, a middle class family might be able to own a house. In a good portion of Europe, if you can afford to own a house (not an apartment, a building that only you live in) then you are pretty well off. I hear Canada is becoming this way too.
Depends what part of the US. And by Canada, people are usually comparing the price of things in Toronto, which is the peak for Canada.
I'm old enough to remember when gasoline was less then 25 cents a gallon.

Andre' should do that. There are plenty of great sites. The Douro River Valley (where most of the Port wine is made), Porto, Lisbon, Sintra Castle, Vasco da Gama's crypt, Fatima, Nazarre and Algarve could each be worthy of a whole video.
Just so you know my Portuguese friend america does have free health care for the poor it's called Medicaid And is based on your income This has been true throughout my lifetime and I'm 53. So even though all Americans don't have free health care those who truly need it. absolutely do.
That is simply not true.Many states do not have medicaid. Where have you been?
Unfortunately I can tell you from experience there are a large numbers of people who make too much to quality for Medicaid but do not make enough money to be able to afford to buy insurance in states that did not expand Medicaid.

@@buster2268 from what I've seen 41 states have Medicaid so an overwhelming majority does have it.
The United States does have the best healthcare in the world BUT we have a *terrible* pricing and payment structure. It's a constant fight between doctors, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, medical billing firms, nurses unions, lawyers and politicians. That constant fighting keeps raising the costs higher and higher, and the American people are caught in the middle of everything.
So when people say we have "bad healthcare", they are incorrect. It's the COSTS of healthcare which are constantly going up, and nobody can afford it anymore.
Best healthcare, worst prices. Also pretty good wait times on average. Specialists are more abundant as well.
Remember that the US grows a fair amount of tobacco - in fact the US government used to subsidize tobacco growers.
The price variation between states is primarily the difference in the amount of tax on each pack of cigarettes -
which, by the way has a lot to do with the variations in gasoline prices..
It's almost like if you keep voting to raises taxes on yourself things cost more or something.
I live in pennsylvania and I make $231k a year and I live pretty well, my brother who makes more than me lives on long Island and is just barely getting by. The United States is more or less 50 different small countries. Each state is completely different from one another.

This is why we get so many New Yorkers in the south! Raleigh has gotten kinda ridiculous in the past few years and people really took advantage of covid to raise rents and everything else. My rent was raised by 50% in 2021, which should just be plain illegal. Fortunately, unlike most people, I already had a work from home job and covid afforded me the opportunity to start really looking around as everything in my field became remote and companies really seem to like it better now... but I was really able to job shop myself into more than twice my pre-covid salary. I was one of the lucky few. But, I wanted more space and not as high of rent so I scooched on over to Greensboro which is an amazing alternative. We get just as good medical/dental care (for those of you who don't know the Raleigh area is like a medical Mecca) and its a lot cheaper. I get kidney stones and an ER visit over there was 10K and over here the same visit for the same thing, same treatment and all, 6K. You'd live like a king here on 230K a year.

The thing Diane is explaining about clothing prices is actually taught in Business Schools in the US. Famously, Seagram's tried selling one of their more premium domestic products in the US at a price competitive to other high end whiskeys. This had limited success. They raised the price and put the bottles in an embroidered felt bag and more than doubled their sales.
I am paying $2.79 for gas here in Lubbock, Texas. I am paying $75 for my phone. It all depends where you go for alcohol but it shouldn't run you more than $5 for a beer. I will never buy a Starbucks.

I always hit the Costco in Lubbock and it is unbelievably cheap. I get diesel and it's still often at $3 a gallon. Lubbock is so affordable and I absolutely love it.

When it comes to the production of consumer products, many European countries have a value-added tax on each step of production. This is a sneaky way for politicians to hide taxation and it cannot help but raise the price of the product.
Yes, it's very penny wise and pound foolish. Cutting off their nose to spite their face as it were. Taxing productivity is a recipe for disaster, which is what makes income tax so stupid. People having more money results in more spending, which is the basis for an economy, which also lowers the tax burden by incentivising job creation, resulting in fewer welfare recipients due to having jobs.
14:50 As a Canadian I can tell you free healthcare isn't free. Waiting for 12 hours in the emergency room is a steep price to pay. Waiting weeks for even the most basic appointment is a steep price to pay. Having to wait a year or more for critical treatment is a steep price to pay. Having a medical professional trying to convince you to sign up for MAID because it's cheaper to execute you through what is essentially waterboarding than it is to provide actual medical care is a steep price to pay.
I am hearing this more and more from Canadians. If you have good coverage in the US, like being a public school teacher, the health care system in the US works great. OTOH, if you don't have great coverage and you are ages 50-64, you are screwed. Obamacare claimed it would make everyone "share the load", yet somehow left older working Americans out in the cold. (Guess who didn't vote for Obama much.) Now you can't even opt out of things to keep your premium down like you used to be able to. You can be a couple past the age of menopause and still are required to carry maternity coverage.
I live in WNY very close to three major border crossings with Canada. My mother works in a large hospitals ER and EVERY week they get at least two people who drove over the border WHILE HAVING A HEART ATTACK to get better healthcare. That’s all I need to know about why I don’t want socialized health care. (Although I do have more reasons). I have a Canadian friend who found out he had cancer and had a 15 week waiting time to see an oncologist. One of our friends(American) married him so he could go on her insurance and receive care in the US in three weeks.

Lots of stupid Americans think that too. Sometimes it is true; sometimes it is not. Often you are just paying for expensive advertising that adds no value to the product.
Portugal is known to be one of the cheapest countries in Europe so that must be considered. As a Finn what I love about the United States is that practically everything is dirt cheap there. One of the reasons why my travelling in Finland has been somewhat limited but on the other hand I've been to 43 states in the US.
Aww. I love road trips, and I found myself planning a hypothetical road trip south to north through Finland to prove to someone online that it could be done. Now a road trip through Finland is on my bucket list. Cause darn it, I wanna go!
I worked in a retail clothing store in a new mall back in the early 90's. We had to restrict foreigners from buying more than 3 pairs of Levi's. They would come to buy 30 pairs of jeans and resell them in their country. I talked to a Russian and he said the Levi's they get aren't as good quality and cost nearly triple. This was a long time ago so I don't know if it's still like that now.

Cheap petrol costs mean traveling by car is cheaper (and boats, motorcycles etc.), and natural gas/oil for heating is cheaper. Electric companies pay a cheaper price for fuel so electricity, air conditioning is much cheaper. As for health insurance, most employers provide it, but if not, you can buy a policy, and considering how much more Americans are paid, the ranting of Europeans is silly.
If you are below a certain income level compared to the number of people in your household, you can get free healthcare in the US.
And you can see your primary physician or specialist months faster than Europe. Emergency room wait times are shorter in the US.
Even if you get a ridiculously high bill, many hospitals have funds they use to lower bills if you just ask and show need. I was unemployed and the hospital in my town forgave a large bill and gave me access to free healthcare for a year.
A lot used to provide it, because Unions forced them to, and other companies had to compete. Since the Reagan union busting frenzy (right to work laws), if you aren't in a Union, you arent getting it, unless you're a white collar worker (and calling them workers, is a big stretch). You must have grown up in the upper middle class, to not be aware of this. Obamacare is the only reason these workers can have lnsurance now. Most of the auto parts suppliers, in the 1980s, here in the Detroit area, started hiring their workers through temporary services, that would send them to the companies for 89 days, so they wouldn't have to give them any benefits, which they were required to after 90 days. Then they would be sent to another company for 89 days. This is one of the reasons the quality of the autos was declining. When my last job with health insurance left me disabled at 59, after my disability ran out, after 6 months, I had to pay $430 a month for health Insurance, on a individual plan, until I was able to get on Social Security disability, which came with Medicare. Took about a year and a half. They did eventually reimburse me , back to when my company supplied disability ran out, but no way to get the insurance payments back.

No company gets rid of good employees because they are coming up on 90 days. They probably failed their review.
Union workers are a cause of poor quality. If you can't get rid of dead wood the whole tree suffers.
Theft and malingering are good signs of a union job.
I purchased gas this week in TX and it was $2.72 a gallon.
It's about $3.75-3.90 up here in New England. At least in my neck of the woods!
@@emilyb5307 Today in San Diego it is $4.83. I remember at one point in the Trump administration I could fill up my car with super unleaded for under $40. Also remember, at one point under the Biden administration, paying $106 to fill up the very same car. And that was at a Costco.
It was 2.78 here in TN last week. I'll probably fill my tank again Wed, or Thu next week. Full tank of gas lasts about a week and a half, but I don't go anywhere but work and Costco twice a month.

I was paying $16.48 for unlimited text/call and 2 GB of data through US Mobile (I compared with Mint Mobile and decided US Mobile was a little cheaper for my needs). Right now, I have a year of free unlimited everything through Spectrum, but I'm switching back to US Mobile as soon as that year is finished. I keep getting emails from them offering huge discounts if I come back, so I'll probably pay less than $10 for my first few months when I return. I mostly use TextNow, though, since I prefer to make calls through my laptop. The problem is, most people go with big brands. My brother is broke as a joke but still pays ridiculous fees to Cricket. People think the cheap brands from 20 years ago are still cheap. Most of them haven't been decently priced since the days when everyone had Sprint...
20 I'm in America, and I have a Samsung S22 Ultra with Android and love it. We pay $300 per month for 3 phones with unlimited data and 3 smart watches that include calls and data. Note: The $300 includes monthly installments for 1 phone and 2 watches.
We have access to amazing healthcare in the US. Yes, we pay a lot and something needs to be done about that, but we don't have to get treatment in the corridors of hospitals or wait months and months to get specialist care as it is in the UK.

And they will have the original price tag like a shirt that says Eddie Bauer $80. You can get for $19 at Costco with the same tag. Still on it. Brand new
I live in the Arizona desert and when I went shopping for a new car I settled on a non-plug in hybrid. We don't have a reliable plug in grid for electric vehicles yet. But getting an average of 43 mpg helps reduce gas prices considerably.
If you’re rural or own your home, you especially in Arizona, consider solar! My panels were paid off 10 years ago and now I charge my Tesla every night for free
Hybrids are the way to go for most people atm. Unless you live in a VERY developed area or you hardly need to drive. Eventually the infrastructure will be built out enough for all electric. You could get away with it where I'm from in CT. But most states are much more spread out then we are.
Here in central Texas gas is about $2.75 right now...

it's been between $3.30-$3.50 per gallon here in my Arizona town this week....yes it was just about half the price....I have a Samsung Android & I'm on an unlimited family plan from AT&T thats $150 a month....alcohol prices depends on if it's beer or hard liquor or can or bottle or pack or at a bar or restaurant so it's hard to give a price....Starbucks is usually between $3.50-4.50 for Venti....I go to Dutch Bros though....jeans are usually between $30-$50 at Walmart....we have private & state health insurance....between $10-$5 for cigarettes across the states....Hààgen Dazs is an expensive brand of ice cream here in the states too....there's alot cheaper brands than that....20 definitely would love to see you do that
My favorite is Pete’s coffee which we discovered when traveling in San Francisco! But, luckily they ship and sell their coffee everywhere throughout the USA now.

The main reason cigarettes are cheaper in the US is because we have many southern states that have huge tobacco crops. We don't have to import it.

Healthcare itself is excellent here; healthcare system is broken as hell.
You nailed it. I get my care at the University of California, San Francisco (#12 on Newsweek Magazine's list of best hospitals in the WORLD--a list that includes 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries). The difference among the top 50 hospitals on this list, nearly all American, are minor. And I feel capable of judging the quality of my care because I am a doctor, trained at Johns Hopkins (#3 on the list) and Duke (#16). So absolutely, we have the best health care in the world for those who can access it. But you have to have good insurance, live in or near the right cities and be medically sophisticated enough to know what you need and where to get it. You can't really just go to any doctor or hospital in any small town and get the best care. And you need to understand what signs and symptoms call for professional attention of any sort. It's a system that's far too complicated and difficult for the average citizen to work his/her way through. Many of the comments about medical issue on sites like this prove how little most people really understand about the way American medicine works.
Agreed. It used to also be affordable for most Americans before "Obamacare". My monthly rates and copays pretty much tripled after that POS legislation and the benefits and choices went down. Back in the 1990s everyone laughed at Hillary Clinton for wanting to socialize healthcare, which was a non-issue for the vast majority of Americans back then. All we should have done is make a government program to cover those people who lost their coverage and couldn't get private insurance because of pre-existing conditions. Not break the whole system.
@@norwegianblue2017 Yeah I once went on Cobra to maintain insurance after leaving my job and the monthly cost was something wild like $850 a month (for a male in his 30s with no preexisting conditions). As if that's affordable when unemployed.

Today a gallon of gas in North Carolina at the place I buy gas is $2.99, lacking one cent being $3.00
Apparently the average is about $3.40 statewide. So your area is cheap!
Here where I live, when I passed the gas station that I usually use yesterday, it was $2.82 or $2.85.
Its even cheaper in South Carolina but its because of less tax there (but their roads are worse).
Alabama is about 3.10 right now... Four years ago this would have been considered terrible lol

4:00 I know many iPhone users may not realize this, but there are actually other companies that make smartphones too! I bought my English gf the newest Pixel phone a couple years ago in the USA and brought it to her in England, it was 40% cheaper.
Some more fundamental differences between the US and Europe to keep in mind with these.
Volume: The US tends to have more customers in an area than places in Europe, partly because some of our cities are huge, but even more so due to the range of what is considered "close" or "local". Pretty easy to consider a place like Costco "local" if it takes like an hour or less to get to it driving with good traffic. Another component, especially for consumable items like food, drinks, smoking, is the amount of residential space we have to store things in bulk tends to be higher. For example, I get Peanut Butter in 1.3kg Jars in packs of 2, Ice Cream I get in multi-gallon buckets rated for 20+ servings, and a family member gets cigarettes by the carton which is like 10-12 packs at a time. So in many cases the business can offload costs of mid-term storage to the consumer here.
Tariffs: The main tariff happens at the national level, moving product from state to state is a lot easier than country to country in Europe. On the other hand, your tax rates are more consistent across a country, but generally higher as well.
Gas: While we pay less per unit for gas, we probably spend on average more than someone in Europe for it. This has more to due with the perception of "Reasonable commute distance/time". In the US it isn't uncommon to have a 1 hour or more daily work commute. In many places in Europe it would be considered a trip at those time frames. Even for travel the distance perception is way different, anything under like 3 hours one way can be considered a day trip to me, once you hit like 6-8hrs one way now you are in serious travel modes. Whereas a lot of European countries can be NS or EW border to border in that kind of time.
Zoning: Ties in with other considerations, but due to the vast amount of land we have, zoning in the US tends to be very segregated by purpose. In many places a community can't actually have something like a grocery store or restaurant within it's felt area. Also a lot of those zones themselves are massive, while the commercial area may be right next to the start of the residential area, both of those could be a few kilometers in diameter, and depending where you and the business are a milk and eggs run can be a 5m walk or a 40m drive easily.

It’s because the USA is an oil producing country I remember it as cheap as 79 cents per gallon
In my part of NC, gas has just gone up to $3-3.45 in the last few months. Right now, I'm paying $38 for an unlimited phone plan which includes the price for the Galaxy phone I bought last year.

I paid $2.64 for gasoline ⛽️ the other day. It was at Costco. I’m a vendor. I drive to several different stores each day. I’m constantly shopping for the most affordable gas. I will stop into a Bucee’s at least once every other week for gas grab a sliced brisket sandwich or brisket breakfast taco and a fountain drink.
I don’t think you can even buy Chinese phone brands in the USA. Even if you could, I don’t know how many people would buy it.

70% of phones in the USA are made in China. They are just sold with American brand names. If you shop at Walmart, almost everything but food is from China.
@@reindeer7752made in china isn't the same as being sold by a chinese company. for one, chinese companies are bound to different laws and enforcement regimes than american companies are, especially around retail sales. notably, china doesn't broadly enforce its laws against fraud, domestically or internationally, while the us is so strict on them, it's caused diplomatic tension at times.

Gasoline in the US as of right now is 40% higher then it was at the beginning of 2020 (pre all the stuff that happened) This is going off the national average.
By "all the stuff that happened" You mean the potato tanking the economy and continuing to tack and extra 80 billion for Ukraine onto every bill that comes across the house that has nothing to do with Ukraine? That's not mentioning the (by conservative estimates, so likely much higher) 10 million illegals he's let hop the fence and claim benefits.
Examples: Border security bill in 2023, Tiktok ban in 2024, You also just straight up had a Ukraine aid bill in April 2024 since 80 billion here and there under the table wasn't enough.

Yup, I was paying under $2/ gallon in 2020. Now it’s $3.63 here.
Biden caused gasoline to go up because of his idiotic policies and executive orders.
I worked as a petroleum equipment repairman and technician in the 70's, just as gas prices were exploding. For several months all I did was replace the old 3-window mechanical pump computers (good for a maximum price of 99.9 ¢ per gallon, with the new 4-window ones which were only good to $1.99 per gallon. Another option at the time was a metric conversion - - some stations used them and that allowed prices to 99.9¢ per liter. As prices continued to climb, eventually everything was replaced with digital computers (like we see now), that can be programmed for any price!

Alcohol prices vary in the US by state and product. We have some cheap booze if you want to go for lower quality (1.75L of Vodka can be had for around $10, and 30 cans of beer for under $20). The higher quality stuff can get expensive though.

alot of advances happen in the US because of the ability to make money off it if even for a short time. The tools is where alot of the unsung medical innovation takes place. The Dr. teams with someone and they build a new piece of equipment to facilitate a cutting edge procedure that should work ... if it does they uave the patent for the tool and other doctors flock to learn the new technique.

What I think most don’t understand about healthcare is that there are positives and negatives to whatever system you chose and you have to weigh what you lose against what you gain based on what you value most. While universal healthcare sounds great, it’s a massive undertaking for a country as large and diverse as ours, it will cost an insane amount of money, taking those funds away from other important things, and it runs the risk of decreasing the quality of healthcare for everyone involved. We’ve seen this play out with the one healthcare system that is already nationalized in the US, the VA.
Another big issue is that due to how our system is set up, many of the new medical advancements and technologies happen in the US. We risk stifling that and possibly slowing global medical progress by a huge margin. Is that worth the risk? Is there a way we can have our cake and eat it too? It’s hard to say, but from what we see in reality it doesn’t look like it. We’re going to have to chose certain things and forego other things.
I laugh about Las Vegas alcohol, because pricing depends your activity, and bulk sales often drops the cost. When a distillery has a promotion, you will get sales well below 50% of the normal price they charge at a grocery store. For the average tourist, if you are in a gaming/gambling setting, it's still valid to get free drinks and the cost is just the tip to the hostess.

I would just love to see a little of your country and city. I am 55 and live in Montana and make about 70,000 a year and live in a 4500 square foot house on 20 acres of land with a shop and 4 car garage in the mountains and my home is payed off. We also have our own natural spring for water. I took a job making less money so I wouldn't have to drive 140 mile round trip everyday to work anymore. I will never live in a larger city because living is just not as fun and free. I live really well. My phone plan is 260.00 a month with 2 tablets and 3 phones with protection plans on 2 of them and unlimited talk and text, and unlimited data. My kids and I use nearly 2000 gb a month. If my kids break their phones, they get them replaced once a year for free. I don't think my phone plan is that bad. That is all I pay, and there are no extra charges even with all the data we use. I have health insurance and always have and I never have to wait more than a week to see my regular doctor or more than a few weeks to see a specialist. I've heard from many reactors in Europe that yes it's free but you can die waiting to see a doctor and a few of them just prefer to pay their own.
I live in Arizona which has traditionally been a fairly inexpensive place to live though lately inflation in housing and food have made it more near the national average. It's cheap compared to much of Europe but more expnsive than say Spain, Portugal Greece or Italy outside major cities. My phone plan $25 a month for 2GB but mostly I use wifi at $50 a month. Gas prices vary a lot over the US. I'm paying about $3.50/gal. That is in recent history fairly cheap. Prices go up with demand and that means in the summer it's more expensive. It's been as low as about $2.25 due to the pandemic but that's not a fair marker. In California they use different blends and have higher taxes it's much more expensive. If gas were at European prices people would stop driving but there isn't an alternative transportation system so business and the economy would grind to a halt.

Years ago the U.S. really started forcing people to quit smoking by raising prices for cigarettes and adding really high taxes. They also stopped allowing smoking in a lot of public places. So much healthcare costs for cancer and of course lives.
Gas in my town is $2.34 per gallon to $2.59 per gallon. This is not typical across the country. City and state taxes have a lot to do with gas prices.

A lot of Americans don’t even realize how important health insurance is until they get really sick. I am a type 1 diabetic so I cannot live without insulin. Without insurance, my medical supplies to just stay alive would be at least $1,500 a month. One trip to the ER was over $8,000 before insurance. Surgery to remove your appendix costs between $10,000 to $20,000. We are one of the richest countries in the world and one medical emergency can bankrupt you. Most people struggle with medical costs even with insurance. And there are over 25 million Americans who are uninsured.
Im an American whos wife had a stroke which required brain surgery life support for 3 months than another 9 months in the hospital after that There are federal, state, local, and even hospital programs that will help with the cost The hospital she was in even provided a case worker that helped walk me through the process Maybe i was lucky enough to be in a really good hospital or maybe some Americans are unaware of the help thats available or dont bother to do the work
Health care is only expensive because it's designed to be expensive. If we were to pass a law banning health insurance for everyone, then the price of healthcare would plummet. In many cases it has even been proven to be cheaper to pay for medical treatment out of pocket than through your insurance because hospitals raise their prices if an insurance company will pay part of it.
Likewise many drugs should have had their patents should have ran out decades ago, which also would lower the price of healthcare.
The government also limits how many people are allowed to become doctors creating artificial scarcity.
They pay thru taxes. In UK you can wait 6 hours for an ambulance. A week plus for test results. Months for a doctors appt. Years for non urgent surgery.
In US cost of insurance is based on income. Under a certain income it is free. I am now retired and get the same insurance. It is better than the insurance I paid for.

@@ryanlaymon2329 I think a lot of people are unaware of those programs and a lot of hospitals don’t have enough staff to adequately help everyone find the help they need. Unfortunately a lot of those programs are specifically for emergency situations and not preventative care or long term care for chronic illnesses.
My phone plan, as a senior citizen of 74, is only $10 per month for 5G coverage with 5GB of data per month thrown in.
This is charged in a once a year cost of $120 plus taxes, but is much cheaper than my son pays of $70 per month for similar coverage.

If you are gambling in a casino in Las Vegas, the drinks are free. Vegas is build around gambling, so, if you are not gambling they are losing money, ergo the high prices now in drinks, food, and shows.
Lots of people die in the US because they have no access to healthcare also… it’s fairly common for people to have to file for bankruptcy because they have high medical bills they cannot pay. Like if ppl get a cancer diagnosis they can either go bankrupt or just die because they can’t afford treatment.
There is also A LOT of homeless people in the US. In every city in the US you will find many homeless ppl. The videos you react to don’t show that part of the US but the homelessness level is VERY high and it’s better worse all the time. Just do a Google search and you’ll see for yourself.
Gasoline in Europe is highly taxed in order to pay for "free" health care. Also your VAT tax is as much as 22% to pay for free health care. The equivalent of VAT in the US is sale tax which varies per state but runs from 3 or 4% to as much as 7 to 7.5%. Except in California where it is 8.8%.

Please read an economics book. The President has absolutely nothing to do with gas prices. He can't raise the price of gas. He can only release US reserve gasoline if the prices get too high. Very little consumer tech is actually made in the USA. Almost all of it is made in China or other parts of South East Asia. Many of the biggest brands are also Asian, Sony, LG, Samsung, Nintendo, Yamaha, and Toshiba, are all companies based in Asia.
She didn't specifically mention televisions, which way way cheaper in the USA than in Europe.
Innovation happens here, manufacturing gets outsourced because it drives costs down and is good for global relations. Also, Sony is actually an American company now, by the way, they shuttered their japanese HQ and made their official headquarters in California.

Cigarettes here in California are around $10 per pack. I have a rolling machine and I roll my own. I get around 2 cartons (20 packs) for around $32, and they're better. I make my own ice cream, too. Keto ice cream is rather expensive, and not very good. I pay $14 per month for my phone service. I get unlimited talk and text with 1G of date. I use very little data, so 1G is enough. I pay $30 per kid for unlimited everything. It's pretty cheap.
