I find a few minutes massage of my legs, calves and front of thighs helps relieve the feeling enough to go to sleep. If I've been driving a lot of hours I get restless legs and it is really agrivating.
I ordered the oil for several reasons, thanks. I think for me the exercises will be key: spondylolisthesis and pelvic instability seem to cause restless legs in my case. When I'm in balance, it doesn't happen. I really appreciate the detailed demonstration of exercises!
I just found out about your channel recently, but I have been doing the lower back and rhomboid stretches. They work wonders and you can't imagine how much relief I get from doing them. Thank you so much for the videos.
I've heard also that aluminum does this also? It either blocks B1 or not I really don't know however this info was from a fairly reliable source as well However, thank you for the information again I didn't know about the B1
I believe this! Drugs are not the answer. Frankly, I do not understand people feeling like they need a drug to solve their health problem. There are NO drugs in our bodies! They run on nutrition...
I have had RLS for most of my adult life, (I am almost 73) and I have found that there are 2 things in my diet that will trigger it big time, too much salt, and too much sugar especially after 6PM. Antihistamines are problematic also. B1 does help and I take 500 mgs of magnesium before bed…I am currently trying this new Restful Legs PM that is supposed to help RLS, the jury is still out on that one. I have been to the edge of the cliff at times and have often gotten up and marched in place for hours trying to relieve it, I sometimes get it in my arms and you feel like you just want to jump out of your skin. People who have never experienced this cannot understand, but it is real and they still don’t really know what causes it. I like reading the comments and I very much appreciate this video. The exercises are great.
I hope you find something that gives you complete relief, I’m 59 and still looking for a sure fire but when it’s really bad I use the small Salonpas patches. Depending where it’s worse I put them behind my knees or the back of my ankles just behind the ankle bone. I have not found a B1 that doesn’t give me a really bad upset stomach even with food.
My legs feel better since I started taking magnesium after supper or eating one banana at night, so thank you Dr. Rowe for sharing the beautiful videos with your audience. May God bless you in all aspects of your life.

Ok, I'm always so skeptical about rls relief methods, but I tried this last night, and it completely, totally stopped it!! I am in awe! Thank you so much, Dr. Rowe, for another tool in my arsenal!😄🙏
I take magnesium glycinate daily and don't experience restless legs as often as I used to. However on occasion, it flares up when I have to ride in the car for long periods of time. I'm grateful for the exercises, as I believe I can do a version of them while being a car passenger. Thanks for posting this. I used to suffer with this issue almost daily, some times more severely so than others. I wish I'd known all this back then, but it'll be a huge help going forward!
I often have difficulty driving because of having to keep my accelerator foot on the pedal. I a, very short, with my limbs being primarily where I’m shortest. So when I drive, I can only sit so close to the steering wheel, which means my right leg is pretty much fully extended, holding my foot on the accelerator. Unfortunately, I end up frequently lifting my foot briefly off the pedal. Fortunately, my husband does most of the driving!
Thank you for your comment - I already have Magnesium Glycinate on order - as soon as I receive it I will use it - not only or the restless legs but also for my numb fingertips. Judi
I've have had Restless Legs for 67 years and I can tell you. When it occurred mostly laying down it was due to cool air and/or ceiling air on my legs. I MUST to get out of bed and walk. I keep a light pillow over my calves and keep them warm, when that doesn't work and they cramp so bad I have to walk it off, I take Magnesium 400gm 1 pill and it take up to 30 minutes, then I am good. I do take Requip/Ropinirole, which absolutely works when it will not stop, but I hate taken drugs and am not on any medication at all. Support knee high socks works well when you have to walk alot. I played Semi-Pro Softball in my younger years and was always on the move. I do eat the right foods but cold and cold air hurts me most, just saying.
I have the same experience. Long comfy pyjamas & socks & a good thick blanket over my legs - no cramp. Otherwise I can get it every night. "Cold feet" has always be a problem for me. And yes magnesium is amazing. It's just that I'm not consistent 😅
Restless legs can get worse if your legs are too hot. If you can keep your legs cooler than the rest of your body (I fold the lower corner of the blankets so they are not on my legs), that may help.
Great video! I’ve had RLS for about five years now and have to take prescription meds which don’t work if I take them right before bed. So I take them a couple of hours ahead of time and also potassium supplements and that cocktail works 75% of the time. I’ll definitely try this oil or the cream that someone else has suggested in the comments to avoid the itchiness. Unfortunately, I also get RLS in my arms, and I’m not sure which is worse because sometimes I just want to throw my arms against the wall. Benadryl can definitely aggravate RLS in my system. I appreciate all the comments and how all of you have figured out how to live with this and I’m sure some of you dread going to sleep at night as I do or even when you relax to watch TV for a few hours in the laying down position without having the interference of RLS. Good luck everyone
@@donnaadams5217 May I ask how long you have been taking that? A friend of mine took it for awhile and she said it eventually wore off. Is it in pill form, or a liquid?
@@susanspatz9501 HI I,ve been on it for about 8years prescribed by my doctor I,m on a lot of meds I live in uk I take 1 pill 200mg QUININE SULPHATE AT N8GHT . It does work. Give it a try it's what's in tonic water at a lower strength though . Hope this helps.
Yes...I get RLS in the early evening watching TV or reading.😞 I have come across an all natural/homeopathic product called "Restfull Legs" by "Hylands". I love it. Just let 2-3 little dissolveable tabslets under your tongue do the job. Walmart carries them. $8 a bottle of 50 they are FANTASTIC.
I feel like going crazy every night. You cant understand that if you dont experience it by yourself. Thank you all for the helpful comments and of course ty dr for that helpful video.
I get it day and night. I have legitimately enquired about the possibility of having my right leg amputated because I am going to end my life over this.
@@AnnaSoucek I ended up in the hospital with it last week after not sleeping for 3 days and ended up in a really bad withdrawal from codeine that I've been using to try and keep it under control. After being on a waiting list for 2+ years for a neurologist I finally got to talk to one and got an appointment in 6 weeks time so thats good. They give me a patch for now to increase my dopamine but I know the latest research doesn't suggest this anymore but I'm just checking their box to see if it works and if it doesn't ask for something else, preferably lyrica because it's the strongest RLS drug I've never been put on. All the best on your condition, if you have any tips on anything that's helped you or want any tips from me just let me know.
I had restless leg syndrom for a long time until I started to use calcium & magnesium before sleep on workout days. Even when this syndrome appeared when I was in bed, taking calcium and magnesium released it almost immediately.
@@MarkoBuric I also take the magnesium and calcium. It did help a little bit but I’ll start taking magnesium glycinate tomorrow. Have you heard that salt, sugar, alcohol and Benadryl (antihistamines) make it worse?
I take an epsom salt bath every night with a little baking soda. Epsom salt brings magnesium into the body through the skin. I sleep so much better after these relaxing baths!
I had restless legs since 2017, Two months ago I started to use Thiamine B1 Vitamin and I sleep like a baby at night. Dosage: 1 tablet per day. Another important thing is to manage stress.
and food, cut back on the carbs. Make sure your insulin and cholesterol are in balance. These two affect your brain. RLS is a brain issue. Shortage of iron in the area's of the brain where dopamine is being generated. ruclips.net/video/4gXrvx6zkR8/видео.html
In addition to restless legs I get a horrible "nervy" condition in my lower back and hips, that drives me out of bed pacing the floor. I vigorously massage magnesium oil into all areas and in a few minutes I have relief. Will add the exercises as well, thank you.

My family was deficient in iron after taking these from amazon MegaFood Blood Builder Minis - Iron Supplement Clinically Shown to Increase Iron Levels Without Side Effects - Iron with Vitamin C, Vitamin B12 & Folic Acid - Vegan - 72 Tablets (36 Servings) Everything back to normal again
These exercises have saved me! I have had severe RLS for years. The exercises plus a couple of calf stretches before bed prevent the RLS completely and it all takes under 2 mins total. I've done them for the past 7 nights and slept like a baby for the first time in years. Unbelievable! Thank you so much!
Years ago I suffered for a period of time from RLS, and then I discovered the miracle of Magnesium! I haven’t experienced restless legs since discovering that I had a Magnesium deficiency and began taking Magnesium supplement’s along with eating foods high in Magnesium. I also take L-Argenine to facilitate better absorption of Magnesium. 👍🏽
the thing about Ropinerole it augments, that is, it causes the symptoms to come back sooner and harder. I experienced that terribly. I'm going on 6 months without even one day off. it most definitely can drive a person to the brink! can't wait to try the magnesium oil 💖
Thanks for all the tips, I had no idea there were things we can try to RLS. A nurse practitioner once told me that RLS was not a real thing, I never saw her again.
Great info! Thank you! Restless legs can be a big pain with fibromyalgia. I take 500mg magnesium every day, but sometimes it upsets my stomach. I'd much rather try the magnesium oil.
I also have fibro. I have found that gel caps are more tummy friendly than pills or caplets. I also find magnesium glycinate more tummy friendly than any of the other varieties. It is also supposed to be among the best for uptake. I get PURE brand, which has 120 mg per gel cap, so you could spread your dose out. Also, taking with food helps. Maybe one gelcap at each meal and one at bedtime with a snack would work for you. Epsom salts is magnesium in readily absorbable form. I don't like baths, so I plug the drain and chuck some in the tub so I'm standing in it while I shower.
We love coming to St. Joseph’s to enjoy the beach and the lake. Also, I have never been able to get any help or suggestions from the many doctors I’ve seen over the years for my restless legs. Thanks so much for this info!
I take get plenty of magnesium with multivitamin, with magnesium pills; I do all these exercises; I walk the floors; I must take the prescription medication Pramipexole starting at 8 pm then another at 9 pm, another at 10pm, usually another at 11 pm. Otherwise I don’t get to sleep!!! It’s not something I look forward to at night. But it works!!! Best wishes to all reading this !!! 💕💕💕
Thank you for showing the exercisers, be trying them out starting tonight. I am 62 years and have suffered with RLS since I was 16 years old. I did't know what it was until I was in my 30's.. A nurse had read an article back then and told me about it. I finally found out that I was'nt alone, other people suffered with this. I use to have to be to work at 5:45 a.m. and it was awful because it my legs would go on just clock work untill around 4:00a.m. I would be so tired and had to go to work. The doctor has me on 300mg. gabapentin. It has helped but not enough. I'm not all that happy with it. My RLS. Starts from my back of my calfs right down to my toes and if I let it go and not stretch my toes my foot will jump a little The feeling drives me out of my mind to myself. I have to stretch my legs and toes really hard that it pull on my toes, like every 5 seconds all night long. Most of the time it's in one leg. Rarely that I have it in both legs thank god. I'm going try the spray also. I am so happy to happen onto this video. Thank you
So sorry that you have had to deal with it for so long. I am 72 and have had it for about 35 years. It is a nightmare. I am going to get serious about these leg exercises. Will try the magnesium lotion also. 1 in 10 people in the U.S. have restless leg syndrome. 7 people in my family have had it. My son had it in his arms real bad but he said when he gave up the pot that he doesnt have it anymore which is a good thing.
I used to suffer from RLS in my legs and arms since I was a child and it drove me crazy, I cried so many times at night because I just wanted to sleep and the itching was unbearable. I started using magnesium oil a few years back and it really helped but since I started taking electrolyte pills daily for a different issue I have (dysautonomia) my RLS is 99% gone. I still get a tingling when I stay up too late but that's about it. So that may be worth a try too. Either way, I wish you relief from it asap!
I don't experience leg muscle cramping or any pain. I just sometimes suffer a crawling sensation inside my legs that makes it impossible not to keep moving my legs to try to alleviate it. I can't take magnesium because of medication I'm on. I just have a feeling that the source of this sensation is coming from the nerves in the lower back anyway.
This is me...and absolutely impossible to explain to someone else! I don't have pain or cramps, i must just move my legs!! Such a bizzare feeling- people who dont have it dont get it!
Yeah same, not painful as such, more of a mental pain as you're supposed to cease movement and relax at sleep time n with rls the more you do try to relax the more it will drive you crazy. I imagine that it would be similar to a symptom that addicts withdrawing off drugs would feel. Like a ticklish feeling in your legs n sometimes arms. Like a thousand ants crawling around your body. I feel bad for my partner sleeping next to me as often ill have the entire bed shaking, as my leg HAS to shake - its not voluntarily- you still have to put the work in n yes it gets tiring, but you'd rather it feel tired than that tickle feeling n when it is also in your arms, that's even worse. I bought a vibrating seat cover, I lay on that in bed n it helps, or I use a massage gun n keep it vibrating on the trigger spots, keep it on there until that tickle feeling goes, it enhances the yuk tickle feeling at first but you feel it start to not tickle as much after a minute or 2. Keep it massaging all around the pin points for about 5 or 10 mins - sometimes longer - but it's so worth it, as you'll find afterwards you no longer have it. It's so relieving by that point, as you just want to sleep. Desperate measures are no to no end. I am anemic n have low iron, n I think that is linked with rls. I first had it in a the last few weeks of my 3rd pregnancy, which went after baby was born. Then 10 years later, ( and a couple of pregnancies without it) which was 5 years ago it started again just out of the blue.
Thanks Doc so much for the advice. I will give everything you suggested a try. I'm 62 and have had RLS for about 15 years. I'm not as severe as others from what I've read in the comments. I have noticed a strong connection between how much physical work I do during the day to how bad my RLS is on that night. I've noticed that if I do some lifting or any work that puts a strain on my spine then that evening my RLS is much worse. There could be a correlation between load on the spinal column and spinal cord to how bad the RLS is. It may be linked to nerves in the spine. It's just a thoery thats worth exploring. However I do also strongly believe that there is definitely a connection to certain vitamin and mineral deficiency as the Doc mentioned.
I haven't taken magnesium in a long time and boy am I noticing pain in my legs at night. All those exercises were fantastic and I will be using them daily.
Know how you feel. I've hit my legs so hard I've had bruises on them...just sometimes pain is better than the restless feeling 🙄. I take a very good magnesium supplement, and it's magnesium gylcate which is indicated for this condition. I still have it. Interestingly enough, I got it as a child BEFORE I started my menstrual cycle, after that it went away. And now I'm menopausal it's back with a vengeance! Can't help but think that hormones play a huge part in my case 😏
No one can understand the pain and extreme stress of severe RLS such as what some people like myself experience with multiple episodes per day, unless they too, are sufferers. If I didn’t have the amount of relief I do get from medications, I honestly would not want to live. Many people have told me they also have RLS, but they don’t. They have PLM, Periodic Limb Movement, which is entirely different, but still annoying and disruptive. This video is very helpful, and I will try these specific exercises.
Severe RLS here too. These exercises and others were irrelevant. I take pramipexole and lyrica Augmenting so I probably will have to convert to methadone.
Thank you. I will definitely be trying these. Sometimes my restless legs go next level and become "restless shoulders". I thought RLS was bad but, when the shoulders start it's absolutely hellish. I have magnesium spray but only used it a couple of times as it did irritate my skin, now l know that's normal and will stop, I'll start using it again. When you mentioned the B vitamins, l paused the video and made myself some Vegemite on toast, so l'm already looking forward to some better sleep.
I get it in my right leg and right arm . It's excruciating. I just have to stay up until I pass out usually around 5am...now my day is stuffed. Tramadole is instant relief I've found but doctors don't really like prescribing it.
@@tempershot6311 Ugh. We sound like twins! I hate it when l see the sun rising on a sleepless night cos, like you, l know my day is shot. I take slow release tramadol 12 hourly. It's not great but, it helps (with pain not RLS) and l find the side effects seem less than the short acting stuff. I'm grateful to have found a Dr that believes me.
@nikiTricoteuse I saw a doctor this morning 530am at a 24hr clinic. He was a good man that believed me too, gave me Tram and Diazipam. I slept till 2pm, day gone. I've booked in for blood tests etc because there must be an underlying problem causing it right? It's so hard to describe the feeling to people hey.
@@tempershot6311 I hope you have found someone who can help. Having an "invisibile injury" can be so frustrating. It's 3.40am here and I've not managed to sleep yet. I had hoped to sleep cos l had a rough night last night - realised when l went to take my tramadol this morning that l had some how missed taking it last night - still at least that explained the rough night. Good luck for the blood tests too.
@@tempershot6311 For me it’s painful, an itchy, crawling, twitchy and jerking feeling. I feel like it’s an electric shock sometimes inside my legs. I literally feel like something is inside my legs crawling around on my nerves. I’ve been learning more and more and I believe salt, sugar, alcohol and Benadryl (antihistamines) makes it worse. I’m going to cut back on my sugar & salt intake. I don’t need the Benadryl or the alcohol. Good luck.
@@mickeyoshea2035 Hi! Qigong is a method of practice that cultivates various skills and beneficial effects. Each practice does something different, so I hesitate to generalize too much (like with any form of exercise). Basically, one of the most foundational methods is through a form of meditation that occurs in a standing position. This can encourage relaxation, benefit circulation, and adjust postural and joint imbalances. This was incredibly helpful to me in dozens of ways. I have some videos on my own channel about the practice. I hope that you find relief from your discomforts and then share the success with your community! 💙
I have it in my arms, hands and back too beside lower legs. Usual it starts in the legs and if i ignore it. It quickly goes up into arms. If still ignoring it. It moves to hands and later into the back. A hurtful and very annoying sickness
I’ve have a pretty bad case of RLS ever since being diagnosed with MS back in February. I was also diagnosed with diabetes, so I drastically changed my diet and went keto to address both, but I didn’t know until recently that I needed to supplement with electrolytes. I think it’s helping somewhat, but at the same time I do still have a leg aching that I think is stemming from the MS and doesn’t go away completely….and it gets worse at night just like with RLS. I’ll definitely try these exercise….I’ve been doing my own version of leg stretching while laying in bed, but not these specific ones. At this point I’ll try just about anything! Lol
Maybe consider if you have Histamine Intolerance or Oxalate Sensitivity. Both are known to cause RLS, and both are pretty easy to check if you have them by going on a restrictive diet for a week or two and seeing if your symptoms change. And have you heard of Low Dose Naltrexone for MS? Let me know if you need more information about any of these things as I know the best websites. Best to you.
@@Maggie-zr2ow Thank you ☺ I did drastically change my diet…I went keto the minute I was diagnosed with both MS and diabetes. After 3 months, I’m off all the diabetic meds they threw at me and am no longer in the diabetic range, which is great. Of course I’ll still have to be mindful of that for the rest of my life, but as of right now, the diabetes is in check. I’m considering going carnivore for at least 30 days to see if that helps with symptoms. I believe the RLS is directly related to the MS because it’s only in one leg, which is the one leg that went fully numb on me (which led to my diagnosis). I did hear of LDN early on in my research….I discovered it conflicted with something else that I already take, which ironically sort of helps with my RLS, so I can’t take that.
Thank you just started with this condition, it’s terrible feeling just ruin your night sleep, restless syndrome is very appropriate, cause that’s what it is, just can’t keep your legs still. Thank you for your recommendations.
It is a carbonated drink normally used to make mixed drinks like gin and tonic. You can find ot at the grocery, Walmart with the other drink mizers like Margherita or Bloody Mary Mixes. Just make sure the tonic water says "with quinine"...because some are made without it now. Quinine is the active ingredient that makes it work for RLS. My husband tried it, and it helped some, but didnt solve his problem completely, but some people say it helps them.
Thank you Dr. Rowe. Your videos are the best! They provide practical guidance not only for pain relief but also for conditioning the body to improve health.
I used to just drink tonic water to fix my restless legs, but since having my knee replacement surgery I have chronic restless legs 3 months down the line. It’s like someone has a cattle pod on my leg and just holding it there. I will give some of these a try.
I first experienced RLS after knee replacement surgery. You are the first person I’ve heard of that also experienced RSL after the surgery. Unfortunately my surgery was 5 years ago and I still have RLS every night.
When I experience RLS, it starts in either my quads or, less frequently, my toes. Quad stretches soothe the spasms quickly and on the first try almost every time. I use mag oil that I make myself from magnesium chloride and distilled water. Very inexpensive. I’ll apply it to the areas you suggested.
I have found that restless legs (my granddaughter calls them, “kicky legs”), can also be caused by some foods. If you are sensitive to some foods, different for each person, you may find it can cause restless legs. Leg cramps can be caused by being dehydrated, like after drinking alcohol. I find juice with higher potassium levels, help with that. Often, very quickly.
I got restless leg, and found out my blood showed anemic. Without further testing, doc wasn't sure which anemia I was suffering. Decided to take a multivitamin with low iron. Found later with another specialist that I either needed more iron or a needed more vitamin B. I inadvertently fixed my own restless leg syndrome because my multivitamin have iron in it. Lucky happenstance. I also later added multi sublingual Vit B complex for energy. Restless leg is a horrible feeling.
I get RLS during flight travel. It's a very weird experience, and I feel like running away from that RLS. I also develop during sleep . Thanks for this video

Going to get my husband to try this! We haven’t been able to share a bed for a long time because his restless legs (even when he is snoring away somehow!) are out of control. Thank you for sharing
Snoring isn't great either! Have him try taking NAC with water on an empty stomach two times a day to see if that helps reduce the snoring. My husband used an herbal product called Sinupret years ago, but I don't know if it's still on the market. I can tell you it utterly stopped his snoring
@@yvetteandjorgenlarsen9753 Interesting. Thanks for the tip. And a quick search revealed that Sinupret still exists....Amazon, Walmart, Swansons, iHerb.
I kick my husband in the head when I'm asleep (he sits at the foot of the bed) and mine happen in my back and arms as well. I'm going to try this. I've already tried the foot exercises except the side to side. They help for alittle while but then it stars again or moves to my upper body again.
I have a desk job. If I don't move often during the day, I know I'll have RLS that night. I'll definitely give the magnesium oil a try. I've also used compression socks & helps and an old wise tale - put a bar of soap under bed sheets... it has worked..
Great reminder for myself! get out your spray, take your vitamin B1 and get some exercise! i was up all night with restless legs. so thanks for the reminder!
Same for me! I had severe RLS for many years and dreaded going to bed at night. I came across a study by the Mayo Clinic recommending iron and now take one a day. It is now much less frequent and much less severe.

Set the bar at “just healthy movement in the mornings / mid day Most important thing is to get your gut (bacteria) in order. Eating supplements will not be enough if you have a hard time absorbing the nutrition. Eating for Mithochondria (Wahls protocol) will do that. I also recommend people to eat 30 different vegetables / fruits / nuts every week (every day if possible). It should be uncooked, raw, to maintain nutrition and bacteria. It’s the best way of quickly building up a good gut. A bit of natural probiotics like sauerkraut and similar is great. One should not eat carbs late in the earnings. Future research might show that floating (sensory deprivation tanks) and grounding (like a sheet in the bed, connected to Mother Earth) will be quick easy fixes of RLS, as the energy in the cells are affected in a neutral way and the blood flow in the tiny vessels increase. It’s time people start solving the real problem and not just treat the symptom with massage, cold showers, magnesium cream and still sleepless nights. There is hope, start with your diet. Eat kale, spinach and more. RLS is likely not a disease. In the future we might understand that it just a metabolic disturbance where B1 could be part of the process, but not all of it. When the stress goes down, B1 levels is better, if you can absorb it. Today’s food are often very unhealthy and lacks a lot of the things we thought we would get. If sickness after sickness, like Fibromyalgia, diabetes, MS and many more can often get fantastic positive results by proper diet, so can RLS.
I’ve had rls my whole life. I’ve thought for a long time it had something to do with my gut. I v reversed my diabetes A1C down below 5. Lost 150 pounds but cannot get rid of RLS. I think you are right though. Thanks for that info!!
FuzzyDoxie, I know what you mean! Ropinirole is the only thing that works for me. RLS is a tormenting, relentless condition that drives me to tears, and my doctor advises it will only get worse.
It drives me to tears, too. Very few understand. I’m lucky I have a supportive spouse who studies it to try and help me. People think it’s nothing, because the name sounds silly, so sometimes I refer to it by its medical name, Willis- Ekbom Disease. Then they think, We’ll, it must be serious with that name!”
I increased magnesium and do these exercises! I also lotion my feet and wear plastic booties for awhile to help with that! I feel like these could improve my symptoms! Thank you.
Thank you Dr. Rowe! I understand everyone with RLS has different severity, occurrences, and causes. I've been taking pramipexole for over 20 years, I currently have no medication so I searched for possible alternative relief as sleeping was impossible. I tried your exercises and my symptoms were gone in minutes, hopefully it continues to work.
SO helpful!! I’ve experienced the itch from magnesium spray but I didn’t know why! I didn’t give it a real chance because of it but now I will, as well as these exercises!!
Yessss the itching is super bad!! Needs to just be used a little at first IMO to get used to it and for the itch to subside some. I had tried it a few years back for knee pain. Itched soooo bad!
@@LilacDaisy2 well does it ever stop itching? I've used the spray for prob a couple years and it still itches at times. I also take a mag supp by mouth. At some point one would think the itching would completely subside.
@@dianasimplifies When I first started using it, it was insanely itchy - burnie. Now, it only itches occasionally, and only a bit. Mag by mouth has the least absorption, so I only use the spray and on different parts of the body, so the area never gets used to it (advice my mum's natural doc told her).
I've suffered from RLS for decades. I tried using apple cider vinegar to help control gastric reflux and found that my RLS went away as well. That was over a year ago and if the RLS starts to come back a tablespoon of acv makes it go away.
@Maggie-zr2ow I have no idea why it works for me but the effect is real and very a very welcome break from the carbidopa/levadopa that the Dr prescribed.
@mickeyoshea2035 not any specific time but for convenience take it mainly in the evenings. I don't think it matters much and is mainly related to slight changes in the ph of my body.
My RLS began when I was pregnant with my twins. 18 years later, and I still have it. Sometimes it's so bad it goes up to my hips and arms. Exercise made it worse. Benadryl, and alcohol make it a lot worse too. My twins must have sucked something from me; some vitamin or mineral that I haven't figured out yet. I've taken Iron, B-1, Magnesium, Potassium, and nothing has helped. There have been times when I don't get it for a while, but then it always comes back. The lack of sleep has ruined my life.
My mom swears by Magnesium (the kind that doesn't cause diarrhea) and a swig of pickle juice at night. Her RLS is severe so this doesn't eliminate it completely but is a game changer for her.
Restless leg can also be caused by eating a large meal too close to bedtime or if you haven't been getting enough sleep for a few days. There's another supplement that really helps. It's a Restles Leg by Hylands.
I had RLS for decades, recently my GP prescribed Appese, or ropinirole 0.5 containing hydrochloride 0.5. Wow! The first night I took this tiny tablet I had NO problem with RLS. I have just finished a packet of 28 tablets and not one hint of RLS. It was like magic. It remains to be seen if this keeps up forever, but so far, really incredible.
I make my magnesium oil with magnesium chloride, and mineral oil. It keeps the skin from drying out. I also, take magnesium Glycinate around 6 pm every day, along with B vitamins and and good quality natural source multivitamin. Also, good job on these recommended exercises!

I find a few minutes massage of my legs, calves and front of thighs helps relieve the feeling enough to go to sleep. If I've been driving a lot of hours I get restless legs and it is really agrivating.
… next up, how to deal with painful killer charlie horse!
Little tip for anyone suffering from restless leg but only occasionally, antihistamines can cause it! Taking Benadryl gave me restless leg
100 percent true! I take Benadryl for migraines and I would get RLS every time.
I got it from Actifed! Same kind of drug.
I got it from too much melatonin! As soon as I stopped taking it, it stopped immediately! I was shocked.
Why should I trust a comment?
Thanks for sharing Barbara. I am a fellow sufferer
Yes thanks for sharing I have a similar experience. RLS is no good!
I use RESTFUL LEGS PM. It really helps, but I also have electrolytes on hand.
Restful legs used to help me immediately, but recently I found it no longer helps me, which was truly disappointing. It was my go to.
My legs feel better since I started taking magnesium after supper or eating one banana at night, so thank you Dr. Rowe for sharing the beautiful videos with your audience. May God bless you in all aspects of your life.
Thanks so much for watching!
bananas are potassium rich rather than magnesium
Be very careful when taking magnesium or potassium! It can kill you to take it to much. Please seek medical advice to be safe! 💞

Hope it helps!

Ionic Magnesium is great. Drops in juice. Highly absorbable and better than glycinate, imo.

I have the same problem and found that an electric heating pad works wonders. I experience more leg cramping than RLS!
😢. I know how you feel. I am suffering at this very moment. May God keep us
I have the same experience. Long comfy pyjamas & socks & a good thick blanket over my legs - no cramp. Otherwise I can get it every night. "Cold feet" has always be a problem for me. And yes magnesium is amazing. It's just that I'm not consistent 😅

Magnesium oil and good hydration, especially before bed.

@@PLueschpuppe Hello there. So are you using magnesium oil and the electrolyte pills?
I don't experience leg muscle cramping or any pain. I just sometimes suffer a crawling sensation inside my legs that makes it impossible not to keep moving my legs to try to alleviate it. I can't take magnesium because of medication I'm on. I just have a feeling that the source of this sensation is coming from the nerves in the lower back anyway.
For me, that crawly, have-to-move feeling is restless legs. Cramps are not what I feel in restless legs
You just described rls 😊
Yes, that's right. There is no pain with RLS. No cramps either. It's exactly what you described. I tried Magnesium, and it does nothing for me.
I've been suffering from rls most of my life. Ill try these exercises, although I've done some of these on my own. Thank you

Hi Cherie, are you on the Standard Amerian Diet or Vegan diet?

Caffeine helps mine
Thank you! I have been taking medication for restless leg for years. I'm going to give this a try and get off the darn medicine!

I have it sooo I get it
Severe RLS here too. These exercises and others were irrelevant. I take pramipexole and lyrica Augmenting so I probably will have to convert to methadone.
get your ferritin levels checked. Ferritin needs to be over 100. Personnally I need my ferritin to be around 200.
@@marta150 im so sorry you are going through argumentation
@@emmamcconkey3991 Thank you. A change of medication and slowly weaning off Pramipexole is helping greatly.
Good luck.
Thanks!
Learning standing posture through qigong healed my restless legs.
Would you kindly share more information about that process?
@@mickeyoshea2035
Hi!

All the videos about RLS and no ever mentions that some of us get it in our arms too.
God I have it in my biceps so bad I can't stand it, right now. Have to flex as hard as I can, doesn't relieve it
I have it In my arms and hips too
I have it in my arms, hands and back too beside lower legs. Usual it starts in the legs and if i ignore it. It quickly goes up into arms. If still ignoring it. It moves to hands and later into the back. A hurtful and very annoying sickness
I didnt know it was the case with others as well!
I get it all down one side arm down to leg.
You are so kind to give all this advice.❤
Happy to help, and thanks for watching!
I also have Ms and I have to take ropinerol.God luck and God bless.
I will definitely try your recommendations; I’ve been suffering from this for 20 years. Thank you!
Thank you just started with this condition, it’s terrible feeling just ruin your night sleep, restless syndrome is very appropriate, cause that’s what it is, just can’t keep your legs still. Thank you for your recommendations.
My doctor told me to drink a small amount of tonic water before I go to bed to eliminate restless leg. I tried it. It actually worked.
What do mean by tonic water?
It is a carbonated drink normally used to make mixed drinks like gin and tonic. You can find ot at the grocery, Walmart with the other drink mizers like Margherita or Bloody Mary Mixes. Just make sure the tonic water says "with quinine"...because some are made without it now. Quinine is the active ingredient that makes it work for RLS. My husband tried it, and it helped some, but didnt solve his problem completely, but some people say it helps them.
Quinine
Please what is tonic water?
My RLS accidentally disappeared when i drink pocari sweat, now i always use this easy to find thing.
When I experience RLS, it starts in either my quads or, less frequently, my toes. Quad stretches soothe the spasms quickly and on the first try almost every time. I use mag oil that I make myself from magnesium chloride and distilled water. Very inexpensive. I’ll apply it to the areas you suggested.
same!
I read a study that found a large number of RLS sufferers are low in iron.
You are on the right track. See the research by Dr. Christopher Earley at Johns Hopkins
I get RLS during flight travel. It's a very weird experience, and I feel like running away from that RLS. I also develop during sleep . Thanks for this video

I been dealing with rest leg for 3 years and I tell you I’m 29 years old and it’s killing me daily I can’t even cry because the pain is so strong that it’s causing my anxiety

Have you had your ferritin level checked? That's what caused mine. The more iron I take, the less RLS medicine I need.

Going to get my husband to try this! We haven’t been able to share a bed for a long time because his restless legs (even when he is snoring away somehow!) are out of control. Thank you for sharing
Hope it helps!
Snoring isn't great either! Have him try taking NAC with water on an empty stomach two times a day to see if that helps reduce the snoring. My husband used an herbal product called Sinupret years ago, but I don't know if it's still on the market. I can tell you it utterly stopped his snoring

Interesting.

I had this problem and ended up going to the doctor who prescribed iron tablets and they did the trick. Easy! 🇬🇧
Same for me! I had severe RLS for many years and dreaded going to bed at night. I came across a study by the Mayo Clinic recommending iron and now take one a day. It is now much less frequent and much less severe.

A) Eat for Mitochondria (green leaf etc) B) Natural yeast / B1 C) Magnesium D) Get your salt / kalium balance in order, this why you should not eat products with salt almost at all, and consume bananas E) drink water prior to bed F) walk in the mornings, not late during the day or in the earning G) Yoga to get the stress down H) Do not walk in stairs or do physical movement after 19:30 H) Do not exercise in a muscular building way.

Same here with the itch. This is great information. I'm going to try again.
Yessss the itching is super bad!! Needs to just be used a little at first IMO to get used to it and for the itch to subside some. I had tried it a few years back for knee pain. Itched soooo bad!
The itch shows how deficient you are. The more you itch, the more you needed it. Seriously
Cut back on Statins, started magnesium & B complex and never had issues again
I've suffered from RLS for decades. I tried using apple cider vinegar to help control gastric reflux and found that my RLS went away as well. That was over a year ago and if the RLS starts to come back a tablespoon of acv makes it go away.
That’s really interesting…do you have any idea why the ACV works for you?
I take ACV daily (and have on and off for many years) but it doesn’t help with my RLS.
@Maggie-zr2ow I have no idea why it works for me but the effect is real and very a very welcome break from the carbidopa/levadopa that the Dr prescribed.
Do you take it at a specific time of day/evening?
Low iron levels is my trigger. I was in single digits until I got an infusion. Slept like a baby for the next couple of months
Thanks for the information I’ve been fight this for a long time
My mom swears by Magnesium (the kind that doesn't cause diarrhea) and a swig of pickle juice at night. Her RLS is severe so this doesn't eliminate it completely but is a game changer for her.
