Cowgirls don't cry
Ride, baby, ride
Lessons in life are going to show you in time
Soon enough your going to know why
It's going to hurt every now and then
If you fall get back on again
Cowgirls don't cry

I’m a boy, but my mom always used to play me this song when I was around 3. I’m 16 now and I still use this song to encourage me to keep myself up. I have been through 15 years of abuse and have always kept myself going. Country music has always kept me going. I love this song.
Sending you a BIG cyber HUG !! 💖
Just read your reply about the song cowgirls don't cry. Hope all is well with you, young man. My family understands hard times. If you need to talk send a message, every young person needs a different point of view. Sometimes a stranger whose heart is in the right place can help.
Just so long as you have great music like this in your heart you will be just fine. God bless you. X

Being the father of a cowgirl who has lived this song except for the last verse (hopefully not too soon) it brings tears to my eyes sometimes, but it also makes me proud to be able to say I'm her Dad! She's been thrown from horses and steers, but always got up and got back on! From rodeo to chasing cows she's always gone hard and posted herself to the limit. She's also a great mother wha has raised two sons who are salt of the earth young men. I LOVE being able to say I'm HER DAD!!!!
Amen. Just remember Jesus ...
@Madi Kubejko Hi Madi. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. You say you’re only nine years old and your dad has already taught you to shoot! That’s really cool. My daughter likes to shoot too but she didn’t start until she was a teenager. Your dad sounds like he’s a pretty cool dad. Are you a cowgirl as well? Do you want to be a cowgirl? Do you ride already? I hope so, because the world needs more cowgirls! Having a horse to look after teaches you a lot of things about life, and all those lessons are worth learning. I wish you lots of success in whatever you decide to try growing up! 👍
@Madi Kubejko, your daddy must be very proud of you. He is teaching you things that most little girls never learn, at least not from their daddy. You and Reba McEntire have a lot in common when it comes to doing things with your daddy's, Reba and her daddy were very close. I'm glad you have this time with your daddy, cherish every moment of it.
I lived on a farm and loved the horses and cows. I didn't get to ride the horses very long though. My daddy died when I was 5 years old and my mom sold the farm when I was 7. I will never forget all the fun my daddy and I had during the day while the other kids were at school. He was a great dad and I miss him everyday even after 52 years. Like most of the viewers who posted, I still cry much more than I probably should after this long but I miss him so much and I can't help but wonder how different my life might have turned out had he still been here, I know it would have been a lot better.
Hold on tight to your daddy sweet girl and tell him and the rest of your family that you love them everyday. Keep riding and shooting, every girl needs that special thing to do with her daddy...
Beautiful!!
We are all thrown off and fall in this ride of life and getting back up and back on the horse is the best way to get though it!
"When someone cries, it's not because they're weak, it's because they're exhausted from being strong for so long"- Johnny Depp
* Unless you didn't learn that lesson about not crying :)
Very true words. It's okay to cry.
You are quoting word from Jonhy deep same one who said lets kill the president enough said
A great quote to share! Anyone can get mad enough to feel like they would like to kill some thing. Only those that do not feel actually would!
Maybe so,but what he forgot to realize is that a lot of people don't have time to cry.
There for crying may simply be a convenience
Thank you for this.💝💝
My father passed about two weeks before this song was released. The last time we spent together was at a Brooks and Dunn concert, which he had scrounged up the money for because he knew how badly I wanted to go. He passed the next day. When this song came out, I cant explain to you how I felt.
She didnt let him see it break her heart, she didn't let him see her fall apart ..cause cowgirls don't cry! Ride baby, ride.

Still gets too choked up to sing Reba's part. Waiting for 2019 to go back to its roots.
What roots? 2019s roots died long ago its floating in space somewhere spiraling out of control...
I also get choked up when Reba sings her part. I was my grandpa's girl when he died July 21st 2008. I spent a week in bed crying. My husband and kids finally reminded me that my grandpa would not be happy that I was doing nothing but crying over his death.
I cried too rebas part is hard to sing
reba came in strong
@@mountain177 there are a lot of traditional country artist popping up they just don't get played on radio, the roots are still there, just being buried by radio djs who are told that frat boy country is the only thing that'll sell (an expert literally told them to get rid of female singers for better 'viewership')
I know I’m black but I really love this song ! I’m from the South , this song has helped me get through things .
I dont care about the color of your skin I care about your personality and from liking this song I think I like yours 😁
Color doesn’t define you honey!!
We love you no matter what color you are!!✊🏿❤️
This music is for one race and that's the human race. Colour doesn't exist in country music.

I cry since the beginning. Reminds me when I received the same call, when my father passed. Only difference, I took immediately the next flight. He was a great Dad. Thank you Jesus for that!!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I cried when I played this song in our car yesterday, we lost our auntie Joann to cancer. We also welcomed our 3rd child the same morning, auntie Joann was a true cowgirl, barrel racing, break away, and horse trainer. We will miss you and we love you. 😢❤️🙏
The song gets even more emotinal when you find out Reba wrote this song and had Brooks and dunn sing it becuase she couldnt handle it. It was too emotional for her to sing the whole thing.
Ariana Brock it's writen by Ronnie Dunn and Terry McBride, it was re-recorded with Reba

To everyone who has experienced loss, I love you, and I hope these song also give you some comfort and healing. It’s hard but it’s something we gotta do every day.
Sorry for your loss. 10 years today for me. One of 12 songs we put together for a Mixed CD, along with Cats in the Cradle, 100 years, and others. There will always be more moments like that, less often but less predictable. When that moment comes go with it. I'm 51 now my dad would be 72.
@@PaulJHawkinsJr thank you. It’s coming up on his anniversary again so it’s definitely harder around this time. But whenever those feelings hit I try and let them do want they need to. Otherwise they get overwhelming all at once
@@harleybaker4684 yesterday morning after work, the 6th, I stopped behind a car with the numbers 107 on the license plate. Guess what happened? I detoured and stopped in to visit at the cemetery. Would have been fine maybe if I didn't detour and I almost didn't detour. Even though it's a cowgirl song, I went looking for the song because it was on the mix to have one about dad's from a son's point of view, my sister's, as well as my mom's. Trying to recreate that mix here. Granted THIS version (with Reba) I never heard before yesterday. Harley, keep pushing forward best you can, detour when you need to, but don't forget to come back. Reba's always had such a great relationship with B&D. I think she's just a lovable person. She gets along with everyone. My Uncle's like that. Very charismatic and friendly.
Have always loved this song! Lost my Dad in 2005, broke my heart! He was my favorite guy! Loved him so much! This Cowgirl cried!

The verse Reba sings is one of the hardest lyrics, emotionally, to get through.
Everytime.
Great Song
Her daddy gave her, her first pony
Then taught her to ride
She climbed high in that saddle
Fell I don't know how many times
He taught her a lesson that she learned
Maybe a little too well
Cowgirls don't cry, ride, baby, ride
Lessons in life are gonna show you in time
Soon enough you gonna know why
It's gonna hurt every now and then
If you fall get back on again
Cowgirls don't cry
She grew up, she got married
But never was quite right
She wanted a house, a home and babies
He started comin' home late at night
She didn't let him see it break her heart
She didn't let him see her fall apart
'Cause cowgirls don't cry, ride, baby, ride
Lessons of life are gonna show you in time
Soon enough you gonna know why
It's gonna hurt every now and then
If you fall get back on again
Cowgirls don't cry
Phone rang early one mornin'
Her momma's voice, she'd been cryin'
Said it's your daddy, you need to come home
This is it, I think he's dyin'
She laid the phone down by his head
Last words that he said
Cowgirls don't cry, ride, baby, ride
Lessons of life show us all in time
Too soon God will let you know why
If you fall get right back on
The good Lord calls everybody home
Cowgirls don't cry
Thanks 😊🙏
I was born with the last name of my dad I still do, but my spirit was my mom's side of the family. I'm a cowgirl, that's what my grandfather thought. He was right. He was dying. Before he died, he really pushed the spirit out of me I love horses, country music, guitars, boots, and the hats that represent me. Thanks to him, I'm a cowgirl. I just wish he didn't die

I'm only 38 and I've experienced lots of loss, especially the last 5 years. Lost the man who raised me til I was 16 (mom divorced him), and his mama, my grandma, within 5 days of each other, then my great uncles and great aunt all passed within a year starting in 2022, and my grandmother just this past October. Now I take care of my mom and dad (who's been in my life since I was 17) and my two kids. Whenever I hear this song I look at my two teens and think thank goodness they have their daddy, my husband, and my step dad in their lives now, someone who can be strong when I can't bring myself to be (like when they we're learning to ride their bikes and now my oldest learning how to drive) and I consider myself to be the luckiest woman to be able to have my family. Thank you B&D and thank you Reba. ❤

Still forever one of my favorites. On work Sunday, I had RUclips music playing in one headphone and this song came on. I immediately felt calm and at home. Not even paying attention to Reba. But once she came to sing the part by herself I had to actually stop and just sit there for a minute. A feeling I haven't felt in a long time. A type of pain growing up nobody tells you about, is growing up to realize the meaning behind songs. This is one of them. (more examples - concrete angel, goodbye earl, letter to me, consider me gone, and so much more)
I can’t listen to this song without being emotional.

Don't know how I got here and I have never really listened to country but this song, this song right here just got me in the mood to start listening to country. Man have I been missing out.
Indeed you have, you just need to find the good country music
The shit that that passes for country today isn't country. Listen to these guys, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, etc... from the 90's and before.
Ryan Thornton old is the best
Ryan Thornton yeah sure, fuck aldean&gilbert. In addition to Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt, my advice is guys such as George Strait, Randy Travis and Clint Black. Easton Corbin is a pretty good musician too. Dierks Bentley has a wonderful haunting album out there called Up on the Ridge, that's just amazing. Brad Paisley has some amazing albums, my favourites are Time Well Wasted and This is Country Music. If you want to try some bluegrass close to country music, try The SteelDrivers :)
welcome to country music!

Cowboys love hearing how cowgirls don't cry. Country Strong
This song reminds me of when I got the call about my grandpa passing away. I gave birth to my last child and hours after his birth, my grandma called and told me my grandpa passed away. Happiest and saddest day of my life.
Hello, how are you doing today?
Reba is one-of-a-kind, the best ever!
An old rancher, Dusty took my granddaughter under his wing when she was 11. He taught her everything about Ranching and how to ride. She became a barrel racingChampion at age 16. She won the giant belt! One year later, her champion horse, Saffron died. She did not cry. She wore the big belt that day! I, Her grandma was allowed to cry, and again now. My granddaughter named her first child Dustin, after the great man! Dusty!
This made me cry I swear
Awesome story
Dustin is a man now at age 13. He does everything a Horse Rancher is supposed to do helping his Mother.
My granddaughter has continued to enter barrel racing championship competition all over Michigan.
When I'm sad or going through a rough day I play the song
I think about my own Dad when I hear this song. As complicated as our relationship had been, he taught me to be strong and don’t take any crap from anybody! I inherited his stubbornness!
The part were he says “he taught her a lesson” and “she falls she gets back up again” I started sobbing it reminded me of my 15 year old aunt who taught me everything I need to know that’s what she would say to me when I would get thrown from horses or get hurt😭🥺😢🥲💗🥰😍
My mom passed in 2018. I grew up listening to this song, I happened to run across it on Spotify the other day and I didn't expect to be in tears over a song. Rest easy mom
Gosh I miss them 😭 I wish they had stayed together! I'll forever be a Brooks & Dunn fan though & they'll always be my favorite duo! Not many can compare to the pure, incredible talent of these amazing country men

My dad has cancer stage 2 lung cancer and this song hits me hard cause my father always taught me how to be strong.
I love this song. It reminds me of something my mom said to me when I was little. I wasn't riding a horse, I was ice skating on a pond near our house. I kept falling and she kept skating over to help me up. I fell for the 100th time, and she skated over and told me "You have to learn to pick yourself up, because nobody else is going to do it for you. The longer you stay down, the harder it will be to get back up." With that, she skated away. I learned to pick myself up, and I've learned she was right.

Woah those 2 Brooks & Dunn, and Reba together, explosive, does it get ANY better.
I was taught partly by my very special father. AND, I did get that call from Kentucky to SoCal where I was located then. We always expected the inevitable call: after Dad's 3 tours Vietnam, Navy Corpsman, and agent his subsequent orange exposure(s), and also the inevitable final phone call with him. I comfort myself that Ive been blessed to even have a dad who showed up (when the USN permitted, lol) He now resides at Arlington national cemetery.
I really appreciate this song for the fact that my grandpa always told me this exact thing. Even more so when we were getting ready for the rodeo. He passed away from cancer and said it again while he died.

My dad just passed away 4 days ago... I've always loved this song and it would make me want want to cry at the end thinking of losing him... Now it's my reality. My dad has always been my rock and my best friend and I never knew I could hurt like this. I lost my mom when I was 19.. now I'm 33 without them both.. Rest Peacefully Daddy ❤️
Hello, how are you doing?
I just lost my grandpa a couple of weeks ago and this song came to mind because it was one of my mother's many favorite songs, she passed in 2015 due to stage 4 cancer and she was definitely a daddy's girl, so I just imagine them up there together catching up and being happy and pain free from all the troubles down here on earth and watching over our family 🙏🙏
My papa recently passed to and this reminds me of him to it was our song ..🥺 but cowgirls dont cry . Sorry for your loss❤
i'm sorry for ur losses i've been told that the thunder is them dancing or them up there bowlin may god bless you and ur family

My dad passed away when I was 2 and my papa passed away when I was 5, I know when I'm down they are up in heaven singing this to me.
I miss my dad everyday he died this past year Sept 3 22 he had mouth an throat cancer he passed away of horrible death from the cancer eating away at his flesh I know my daddy was one the brightest people I ever knew I sure do miss him rip dad I will always keep on riding an never give up we love you
Seen Brooks and Dunn in concert last night. Just as amazing in person as they are in each orginal recording!
2020 anyone april 9th and this song came out 5 years after I was born that's pretty cool
I've always told my dad that when he passes that not only will I be losing him I'll be losing my whole world.... Me and my mom never had a great relationship so I don't know my mom that much and it's basically been me and my dad since I was 5 now I'm 16 so I won't be ok if I lose him
Your the best God loves you
@tomboys rule I can completely understand
Yes
this is me with my mom, Dad hasn't ever been in my life that I remember. Just her had a very close call when I was 10, she ended up in a coma and even 7 years later I have PTSD about being away from her. I honestly don't know what I would do with our her
I promise you it will be ok when that day comes. Your world shatters to a billion different pieces never to be put back the same. But in time trying to rebuild you end up using the love and lessons learned from your dad to build a new one.
31, my dad died in 09, and this song is about the only thing that does make me cry. Lessons in life show you in time.
Reba always cries the loudest
Reba almost ruins such a great Brooks & Dunn song…
She has that effect on all things!!! Go away Fancy
Song is really special to me because when I have my first horse my dad let me listen to this song or showed me this song and it's been with me ever since and I will sing it at his funeral when he dies whenever he does die and I love him and you are the best country singers I play this song when I'm going through a rough day
Who listen in the fall of 2019?
We don't cry unless we absolutely have to. Saddle up baby
Yeah,,you say it right
Ann Karin Bruaset never quit since the 90s
Would love to get back in the saddle!😟
@@jamielyons8604 You will get into the saddle,,,,,stronger then ever,,,,,,,,,,,hold on,,,,,,,,
It doesn't matter what color you are! ❤❤❤❤❤
My Daddy my Hero my Best Friend now my Guardian Angel taught me to ride a horse before i could even walk...and you bet your ass if you fell off you had to get up and get back on again right then...no time for us Cowgirls to Cry....ain't that right Daddy?!?! Change is scary but needed most of the time....
when reba says cowgirls don't cry I got really bad chills
Reba's ending in Cowgirls Don't Cry is a one of a kind performance!
Reba's a rare performance!!!
It was around 1992, I went and saw Reba at the Air Force academy Co. If you know anything about Colorado when it rains it pours, the night of the concert we were expecting a bad storm and it poured, they stop the concert and made announcement no matter what DO NOT PUT UP YOUR UMBRELLA'S! By this time it's pouring rain, thunder, lighting unbelievable! The preformer that was due to play next refused to come out on stage!!! Well not Reba she came out started preforming and the tarp flew off so again they stopped the show put it back on did sound check... And there she was REBA changed her costume and didn't miss a beat!!! I love Reba:)
This song fits me and my father, from the beginning to the end
The good lord took my grandpa September 18th 2019..he was and still is my best friend...I miss him so much but it helps
When my dad passed away I was 13, I didn't live with him or my mom I moved in with my grandpa and grandma to help on their farm, we lived only 30 miles from them but we rarely visited but when he was really sick with cancer my mom called my grandpa to speak with me and she said, "Colin, daddy's dying, come home." Then she handed the phone to him and he said, "son, be strong without me. Take care of your ma. It'll be tough but you'll make it, I promise." And that was the last thing my father said before he passed. That was 10 years ago and I'm now in my third year of college. Rip dad!
Colin Graham That just made me cry...I am sure you made him proud....
I'm sorry for your loss I know how you feel I lost my mother at the age of 5 to ovarian cancer
I am so sorry abt your luck, it's a shame when Dad's don't stand up to the plate and be a Dad,,,,,my son went through the same thing you did, only HIS DAD is still alive but not in my son's life, so sad !!!!!!
Aww I’m in tears. I’m sure he’s proud, and I’m sorry for your loss
Colin Graham reading your comment brings tears to my eyes
My mom loved this song, she repeated this so many times and i'd come home from school and she would just blast it.. someone sang this at her funeral today

I love you more than you'll ever know... "Chin up, lil soilder" is what kept me going... You'll never understand the impact you've had on my life. You're the best thing to happen to me. You and our boys are everything I will ever need in this life. I love you baby.
Not only have I listened to this song MANY times, but I have not been able to sing through the whole thing without crying! Especially when Reba starts to sing, just pulls the heartstrings! 😭❤
