    Hands down best game review video I've ever seen. No stupid jokes, no discourse on your childhood and what movies you like, etc. Every second of the video, every word spoken relevant to the game. You cover almost all aspects I care about in deciding whether this game is for me (components, replayability, campaign aspect, theme, mechanics), and give excellent shots of everything included. The quick comparison of certain aspects to other popular games were helpful, as well. Thank you for taking the time to do this. You have earned another subscriber.

    Nice review. Rule book are always a hot discussion. As a whole, ones I've seen recently, they are getting better. There's a lot in that box and having the whole terrain in there is a huge plus to me. Also the little cut to some core space animation, nice. Very nice, editing skills are increasing with each video!

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks Mark. The rule book is really clear and looks great but the info is just dotted about which makes it more difficult than it needs to be I think. Thanks for comment on the quality too. You wouldn't believe how much extra time it adds to have to film all those 2 second clips and edit them in! I think it makes for a better review however so lets see if it works.

    This is a really solid review. Showing my age here but this game is giving me big Space Crusade vibes, the cardboard terrain, the plastic pegs, the cardboard tokens, the player boards, it's all reminiscent of Space Crusade only with better production values. Does seem like yu could make into a 4 player game if you split the crews into sets of two.
    Makes a change to see a miniatures game that isn't ridiculously overproduced *cough* Endure The Stars *cough*.

    Just as an fyi, the bit you pointed out on the dashboard that appeared to be upside down at 8:15, it's not. That is actually a mini representation of the character card. If you look at the dashboard without any cards or tokens in, each section displays what gets put in it. Mini character card icon for the top section, several small icons representing items, then a rectangular shape representing class board.
    Love these little touches from the guys at Battle Systems.

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Andrew, I'll go back and check for that. Just seemed like the position and design was too perfect for it to be a coincidence however it was upside down. If it's just design choice then fair enough.

    I like that this review is honest, but also seems fair. Also like all the different types of shots added. Not that we hate looking at your face, it just makes it more about the game, and get more of a feel for it. 👍 Tip top review.
    Why don't more games have the walls etc? Are they a bit annoying when moving minis around? I am forever knocking over scenary. The close ups of the board looks like more room that I thought.
    And the fact you actually pull items out of a cardboard chest is awesome!

      I've no idea how I've missed your comment - how rude of me! :)
      Really glad you like the review and the new editing style. I just keep trying to step up the quality each video. The wall are actually not too bad. They're high enough to look good but not so high that it means you can't measure with the tape. It helps this is a little more narrative where exact measurements are not so important however.

    Thank you for the great review. I didn't even know about this game till earlier today and now I'm trying to watch everything I can about it. It seems so interesting.
    I love the terrain and theme. The gameplay looks fun and I like that there's both a neutral and an enemy faction on missions. The items as chits is a neat idea.
    A deep campaign dripping with theme is always my biggest attraction to a gaming system which is probably why I enjoy Necromunda so much but I could really see this appealing to me and my son as a fun in-between of a miniatures and board game.
    How kid friendly is this to learn to play (he's 11). Does it have a co-op mode or is it always competitive?
    Thank you

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 лет назад +1

      Hey there. Thanks for watching!
      I think for you and your son this would be a lot of fun. It will need you to drive the campaign however as the game can also be played solo (there’s some great AI rules for the enemy) you’ll be able to team up and play it co-op.
      If you like Necromunda you’ll appreciate the level of detail in this and there’s plenty of expansions too once you want more.
      Hope you enjoy it if you do choose to pick it up 👍🏼

    Great review of the game, good to hear the negatives as well as positives. I do like your style of review 👍
    Must be honest I backed this on Kickstarter but it was more for the terrain than the game itself.
    Most new games seem to have the quick start / let’s get playing guides which I think should be an essential item in any game together with a reference sheet that you mentioned.
    What’s next on your review list? Did you get the Batman chronicles from monolith?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks John. I like to try and balance out a review and as I said in the video no games are perfect. Theres always something that can be improved or worked on. I think that a quick start guide would be simple to put together for this. The rules are actually very clear when you find the bits you need.
      Next up? Not sure yet. I got Batman and Hellboy but also have Res Arcana and Victorian Masterminds to review too.

    Looks pretty good!
    Are you sure you were not just using the plastic card holders upside down? I know sometimes photographers sometimes assemble things slightly wrong even in manufacturer shots - if the rulebook/etc show the parts being used "upside down".
    Rules jumping around in the book is really frustrating.

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 лет назад +1

      There’s some icons on the plastic dashboard too that are in the same order on the player card if you have the pegs at the bottom. I think it’s just an oversight.
      I bet it’s one of those games that if it’s demoed to you it’s all obvious however learning from scratch - expect some flicking back and forth.

    Does everyone in England say 'orientated'? I've only ever known it as oriented, so much so that I'm commenting about it....
    as for the game, I like that it can be played solo and it looks well designed and put together. However all those walls would do my head in and the learning sounds like too much...I'll be sticking to Blackstone Fortress myself BUT I'm sure whoever does pick this up will be very happy with it

    Very clear review especially highlighting the entry point level ( setting up mission zero and learning the rules by the book ). Not a fan of the pins though, maybe sliders could've worked. Easy to lose pins along the way, especially if playing with the young ones ( or the elder! ). Really liked the camera shots. Miniatures look very cool, with that space cowboy kind of aura.

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Hethwill. Thanks for your comments. The pins aren't actually too bad. They're a good snug fit, they're long enough to get a good grip on and theres plenty provided in the set so you can afford to lose 1 or 2. Theres definitely a Firefly feel to it too.

    Great review Andy. I agree with all the points you made, especially the skill icons, I am however glad they put them all out at the start.
    One thing I really dislike is where you have to get a new book or print multiple sheets just so you know a new rule/skill, at least this way you have the information even if you will probably never remember it without the reference sheet to look at.
