    I backed the game for a dollar, and waited for the last minute to finally go in on the Titan pledge. All the chatter from people who have played it has been extremely positive.
    Your review got me excited to crack open my rulebook.
    Thank you!

    if the corespace rules are too overwhelming, all the terrain and miniatures are fantastic to use for a more lightweight round of five parsecs from home

      I think the game is fantastic but I don’t get to play it much because of the set up and take down time. I’d play it more if I had a dedicated table to keep it set up. But with me changing games a lot and only having one small table to use, it doesn’t get played.

    Almost seems like mission overload. I have been intrigued but wonder whether the amount of possibilities might be just a bit too much for me. Interesting that it calls to your mind Stainless Steel, which couldn’t be more on the opposite spectrum, component-wise. That’s a tip of the hat to the awesomeness of Greg Costikyan’s design.
    I would like to see you actually play this game and discuss how much rules knowledge/reference it takes to put the mechanics into action. Nice vid.

      It really isn’t an overly complex game. The hardest part is remembering the icons, but that can be alleviated by using a cheat sheet.

    As always I´m looking forward to and enjoying your personal rambling about games and this looks very interesting ;) How much setup-time do you think each scenario requires ? Is there a lot of bookeeping between scenarios ? Asking because its hard enough to get my group together, and usually I´m the one soloing a camapaign to learn the game and at the same time keeping track of the groups game....

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  5 лет назад +1

      Book keeping between scenarios is SUPER minimal. Almost non-existent. You just fill in a few spaces on your character and ship cards with dry erase maker. Set-up can be longer than other games. I'd say about 30 minutes once you get the hang of it.

    First of all great review, you showed the possibilities of this game.
    Have you visited the Battle Systems Core Space page yet, it is a must. They have provided a ton of downloads already to enhance your gaming experience, including the reference sheets from the back of the book. Just as importants are sheets for all the skill as well as a handy guide to the variuos trade shops in the game and which weapons are available to buy.
    On top of this BS are also publishing extra scenarios for the game every Monday
    Given this was their first foray into miniature games, I think they did a first rate job, but now its time to save the pennies for the Fantasy KS that is coming soon.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks! It's such a great game for a first game. Reminds me of Dungeon Degenerates in this regard. Both of these games are the first games from their creators, and both are better than many games coming from established creators.
      And yes, they're providing lots of neat free stuff on their webpage. All in all, Battle Systems seems like a great company, one that really loves their products and their players.

  • @kyur3813

    On its surface, the game looks like its made for me. I'm still asking myself a) if the rules are clunky are and b) how annoying the measuring of distances with a ruler will be to me. I can tolerate clunky rules to some degree, as long as they have a good reasons to exist and really add something enriching to the game, but the measuring of distances with a ruler was always something I disliked in games -- and it seems to be especially complicated and problematic because of the (indeed really nice) 3D-terrain. Can anyone elaborate on these 2 aspects ?

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  3 года назад +1

      This game is the opposite of clunky. One of the best rule sets I’ve ever played. Elegant, well written, easy to learn and teach, and allows for all kinds of interesting situations and scenarios. Because the maps are small, measuring is super easy and never a hassle. You can also play by counting squares, but that adds a lot of time. Measuring keeps thing going fast.

    I want the game but the starter is out. Can I pierce a game together with just rules and minis and terrain?

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  4 года назад

      I can't really say. Probably? But you will be missing the character dashboards and some other components, and while these may not be absolutely necessary, I can't imagine playing without them. But if you're more flexible, then I'm sure you could play a close proximity using the deluxe rule book and some terrain.
