give that old lady a playstation jesus christ.
For real
Exactly why millennials will bankrupt the casinos. They get their electronic fiction video games not gamma live are pressing a button
Jim meh except those same casinos own lots of mobile games that people spend thousands on for microtransactions
😂🤣😂🤣😂
I know you probably meant that as a joke but as a Playstation player and some kind of a gambler I can tell you that video games don't give you nearly the same kind of rush that gambling does.

Totally!
That is exactly what she means. Disgraceful.
If she got food poisoning I wouldn't give a shit, I hate her

I lost £40 in a casino around 3 years ago. I have just started to forgive myself.
*high roller here's a tissue for your issue honey*
Right? I feel guilty if i buy something which i'm not 100% satisfied with. I cannot imagine throwing away heaps of money like these people and being able to justify it.
I enjoyed every moment of losing $50 USD in Vegas. I just imagined it with 4 zeros attached and that was enough fun for me!

“I can quit. I’ve never been addicted to anything in my life” something an addict would say
That's exactly what I was thinking. Everything she said in response to his question about quitting was textbook addict speech. "Would you ever quit?" "No, because I enjoy it so much!". Vegas is a sick place
And right after that she says I lost four million dollars
i dont know why but i read that in a donald trump voice

"What would lead you to say that?" This is what makes Louis Theroux one of the best interviewers in the business.
Absolutely, innocent questions that stick directly through the person's bullshit. Lewe is brilliant
You can absolutely tell just how good of an interviewer he is. He was just going to ask 'Have you ever had to do that' but stopped himself to ask 'what would lead you to do that' which is a MUCH better question.
Let's face it, we both know that they wouldn't intervene.
The interesting thing here is how the casino has a friend for all types of gamblers. An older lady for this one, a barbecue/drinking buddy type for the other one. I bet they also have a club promoter bro type for trust fund kids etc.
Good point, they probably do.
Very well spotted.
EXCELLENT OBSERVATION - yikes.... spot on
That's true? They have people to play friendly in that manner ??
Sasha Cohens character (Borat, Ali-G) went too far as he usually does and they actually nodded and said we can fix it up for you, he was joking about children taboo stuff, he was like Holy, moly and reported it to the fbi and the fbi dropped the case further. They're all in on it.
"shes guilty! take her picture!" Gets me everytime😂
It's actually quite sad and pretty frustrating watching this. For $4 million she could have travelled the world and had some amazing experiences with her son. Yet instead she just sat in a room pressing a button, watching all her money drain away
Just goes to prove that no-one 'needs' this amount of money in one lifetime, let alone 7 years if she is just literally popping it into slots in machines.
She probably does/has travelled the world, how do you know her?.
she's give HER money. it's not inheritance until she dies. not everyone loves their children
She’s a brave age, she’s probably been there and done that. She can do what she wants she’s on her way out (if not already) anyway you can tell she doesn’t care. She seems like a really kind woman being her age and with all that money I’d expect different so why the judgement lol it’s not your money
lol i love all these people: "its her money she can do what she wants!" -- its a psychological trap manipulating her into feeding all of her money into a little machine for nothing but empty emotional responses... that anyone could justify or support this kind of thing is insane.
Something missing in her life, this fills the space.
Or rather: "It's meant to fill the space but it doesn't".
her husband is missing
Stupid, ignorant comment. This is marketing and business taking advantage of vulnerability, predispositions and mental illness.
something is missing in everyone's lives. only the some people are lucky enough to find satisfaction in at least something.

GreeneyBlueCalx 23 shows she’s honest and suggests she doesn’t have an addiction and probably does just really love it
''you just have to gamable'' then she just laughs lmao, she says it how it is.
The whole documentary is interesting it really illustrates how serious this disease is. It's a long dark road.
Not for her.She had a happy road and cared the least about winning or losing. If she spent 4 million traveling for 7 years some would still feel she wasted it but they probably wouldn’t call her an addict.
The casino’s have these awful people they employ to befriend these lonely vulnerable people to make them feel like they’re wanted and special. It’s very sad.
“I’m not addicted”
*10 seconds later*
“I lost 4 million dollars”
Losing 4 million dollars doesnt by default make her an addict.Neither does doing something every single day or most days when you dont have to.
Some addicts dont even get enjoyment from their addiction which is why wish they could quit or do quit.
She didnt even care if she lost.I dont think she was an addict but just retired and bored.
Some people play video games or watch tv/movies as many days a week as she gambles and some are addicted but some could stop easily too if they wanted to.

Louis: "reaaally.."
He sees through her so fast it's not even funny
“You’ve blown 4 million in my casino, please stop?!” Yeah right!!!!
"If you ever thought Martha was gambling too much would you have a word with her?"
"I think I'm friendly enough to tell her to cool it"
"What would lead you to say that?"
"If she would go over and above what she would normally play"
THEY HAVE GOTTEN 4 MILLION DOLLARS OFF HER ALREADY.
Yeah the woman literally thought "what gets me out of this question without looking too bad" that's why her answer was a theoretical meaningless boundary that just happens to be beyond what the current situation is
I lost $200 on my birthday the first time I went to a casino and had nightmares about it for a week. Now I consider it a $200 lesson in never gambling.
The best $200 you ever lost. What a valuable lesson.
Go put $200 on red and make it back
It’ll be five years on March 1st that I quit gambling. Like this lady, I was obsessed with it, for years. Slots, mainly. There is too much socializing at card tables. I gambled to be alone and lost in my own little comfortable universe. I didn’t need the chit chat.
“Once I give it to you it’s your money” such a sweet old lady 😊
Best part 'Not only is she one of our best customers, she's one of the nicest ladies I've ever known'
'Reaaallyyy...' lmao
After the first million, they all just sort of blur together.
When my mom buys US$100 worth of groceries, she gets a free thermos bottle. What has this woman gotten for spending US$4 million.
the casino will give her whatever she wants? ......... err...... you don't think she is somehow paying for that?
TheDarkerKnight by that logic, his mum paid $100 for the thermos...
A free funeral for her husband
@@bindardundat454 +4 mil & counting funeral
@CazMatazz you're right but my point was that the mum doesn't get groceries to be able to get a free thermos. You're allowed to spend your money on whatever you want as she does gambling even if it is a complete financial waste, she clearly enjoys it without the free thermos .
@ 0.50 I love her reaction when Louis asks her if there was a skill to the slot machine gambling.
Four. Million. Dollars.
she could've bought a machine for 5 grand and just played on that
2.3 trillion is 2300000 million
and thats why thy blow up building 7 thy had al the recoords there
Jay Money the thrill of gambling is the stake involved in whether you win or lose. if you just bought a machine and kept pulling the lever with no real investment, then there is no point.

@Crypto World well she was a doctor. Maybe she made it herself..
@@Frozkadur Her husband also passed away and left behind his money as well. If she was a doctor, it'd be reasonable to assume he was as well, or held another high-ranking position.
I saw the whole documentary and i remember this lady. Her husband passed away (casino held the funeral service) and left her a fortune. Its unfortunate that she took up this hobby.
If the casino held a service, that means she was already gambling big before he died. The husband probably gambled too, it's likely they played together.
She is old and bored and rich.
she was a doctor herself, wasn't just her husbands fortune..
They both gambled together before he died.
She sounds like joe pesci 😂
I need more video like this 👍😌
She's so funny, so matter of fact I love watching this clip.
There is something weirdly seductive about casinos, like an atmosphere. God bless these people man its a touch vice.
My dad spent his life savings on gambling and now he can’t retire
I hope that casino is taking care of that lady very well and she is still living her best life
She hit the jackpot then had a heart attack
I’m sure she’s dead by now, this came out in 2009 I think
"I can quit anytime I want" (A minute later) "I lost 4 million dollars in 7 years in the casino" The denial and delusion these people put on themselves is startling. The problem is they think 'quitting' means 'for a bit' like a few weeks, months, a year or something. So that feeds into the notion of 'I am able to quit anytime', but when someone says 'Can you quit?' they obviously mean permanently, but the person being asked the question doesn't interpret it that way.
I think you are deluded here yourself.Someone could in theory do all kinds of things all the time and not have an addiction.I think she could have quit permanently but she had no desire to.
If someone went to the movies once a week for 20 years and you asked them if they could quit same type of thing.
I think what people tend to miss is the fact she could have 100million. 4 million is a drop in the pond. Still sickening but people are gonna do what they're gonna do.
Damn, I do that with my vices.
2:07 NO I Enjoy it to much “ slaps button” 🤣
I love old people man. She reminds me of my grandma. Mark my words the world will be a very sad place when the last of that generation are gone.

Squandered like four million dollars on gambling .... but says that she is not hooked. Yeah right!
But let's say she has 100m in the bank. That's 4% of what she has. So, that's the equivalent of someone who has $1000 in the bank gambling $40. It's all relative.
+Me Andme
The only difference that this makes, is that she is financially padded well enough, to keep doing this shit until the day she drops down dead (probably in front of a slot machine). But nobody, who is not hooked to gambling, would even consider squandering such an insane amount of money. Unless the person can't help it .....
She is, without the shadow of a doubt, a compulsive gambler. Her being rich does not take away from that. It only makes the financial consequences less destructive. Still it is pretty damn insane.
+MightyJabroni I watched the whole episode I was shocked, she even bought an apartment behind the casino complex.
+Rosie Summer
I have to say her case really shines a light on the nature of compulsive gambling. Most people think it is about the hopes of winning. But why would she need that? She is rich anyway.
She is hooked because it is all abut the sensation. Compulsive gamblers can win all they want. They will squander it right away. Because gambling is what they are hooked to. Not winning. It's all just about sensation and emotion. The money or possible monetary gain really isn't even the point.
MightyJabroni Very well said.
Where's the full video of this? It used to be on RUclips and it was really good.
The casino woman had a flicker of conscience - when Louis asked her when she would have a word with Martha about her gambling. Then she bluffed an answer - 'when she would gamble more than she would normally play'
But they were just after discussing how Martha lost 4m in 7 years!
$ doesn’t come with instructions.

I won $4800 at the Casino once. Got up, walked out, and paid a months rent, bought some movies, games and books, a new console and other stuff, and stuck what was left in the bank. Good times.
"LET'S GO, FOLLOW ME!"
*walks slowly away *
Not that I frequent casinos on a regular basis (I used to, but sadly the budget doesn't stretch to that at the present time), but I always had a golden rule I would stick to when I did: if you lose more than three times in a row (I used to play roulette and blackjack mainly), you're out. No ifs, no buts, you cash out straight away and enjoy the rest of your night at the bar. Likewise if you win more than 5 times in a row. It may not have been the best strategy probability-wise, but you never end the night completely gutted, and you keep a potential addiction in firm check.
I always wondered where she is today, I saw this film long time ago, she love to gamble. I wonder where she is today. God bless her. 🙏🏻
“I can always quit, I’ve never been addicted to anything in my life” says the gambling old lady who’s gambled millions of dollars away while sat at a machine gambling...
This isnt a real argument though because you dont know how much money she has. If she has 100 million and lost 4 it isnt that big a deal.
It is just if someone had 100 thousand and lost 5 many people wouldnt call them an addict even if they gambled $2 a day as much as she does.
People waste money on entertainment as often as she does and are not called an addict.
Over and above what you normally play when you have been playing at a level where you lose 4 million without anyone intervening basically means it'll never get questioned, as it's their business model.
Bless her 😂😂❤
I don't have a gambling problem. I put money down, gamble, and it disappears, no problem.
She could have invested that $4m. It's similar to gambling, but with better odds.
I don't think it is for the money or 'winning' for her... she just enjoys her time and the casino's use that to take her money...
@@kipje5555 If you watch the entire documentary she probably cared the least about winning and got the most enjoyment from playing vs anyone else they show.I know some argue she was addicted but I still dont think she was.She appears bored and this is entertainment for her.
I dont think it had any negative effect on her to lose that 4 mill but the others they show I think their losses did.
@d b That is a lie.Having no desire to stop doing something does not always = impossible to not be addicted.
She is not bothered or upset by her losing and most addicts are.She does not hurt her relationships with others due to her gambling and most addicts do.She appears to gamble for entertainment only and most addicts dont.
She does not appear to have anything negative attached to her gambling other than the money and most addicts lhe money is just part of it.
If she spent the 4 million going on a vacation every week instead would you say she was addicted to that too?
She is retired and bored the other people in the documentary are not either.Alan was the biggest addict and he was not cool with losing like she was.
Think how much putting into apple or amazon back then would be worth now
A E R O B That still doesn’t compare since Martha is probably dead and she wouldn’t care.

If Martha has fun and has the funds, I don't see a problem. Expensive hobby though.
Because I think she's lying to convince herself that it wasn't all a gigantic waste.
@@SmokeyBCN It's not. It's her entertainment. It's not a big deal really. Money is relative. 4 million to her is like $100 to some people, and an unheard amount of money they'll never attain to have to others. No big deal really

A lot of people have a bad understanding of addiction. "I can quit any time. I just don't want to." That's the point, lol. It's too much fun so you don't ever want to quit.
Yes the point is if you reach your own self-defined reasons for needed to quit the activity, would you quit the activity? That's the key. Some people would reach those points and continue losing more
Some addicts it isnt fun though.
Why would I run out of money?... I’m rich Biatch! Lol
