“Why don’t you throw me overboard? I’m just so much extra pounds. Throw me out too.” These were the words of Technical Sergeant Forrest Lee Vosler who had been injured in his plane the Jersey Bounce Jr.
On December 20, 1943, Technical Sergeant Forrest Lee Vosler and his crew were aboard their B-17F, Jersey Bounce Jr, flying over Germany. Amidst heavy flak, they successfully dropped ordnance on industrial complexes in Bremen. However, disaster struck when a flak shell hit the wing of their plane, causing a fire in one engine and loss of power in another. Falling away from the formation, they were left vulnerable to enemy fighters. Vosler, manning the .50 caliber machine gun, watched as nearby bombers were attacked and fell from the sky. Their plane was next. Two Bf 109s attacked from behind, hitting tail gunner George Buske and sending a shell into the fuselage, injuring Vosler. In a desperate attempt to keep the plane flying the crew pushed as much out of the plane as they could. At which point Vosler made his request to sacrifice himself for the lives of the crew.

Yeah, it started from 2d animations, and then simple 3d animations, and slowly evolves into more realistic animations, which is funny in some way because they use *unreal* engine

I think your animation of aircraft has improved tremendously over time! I remember seeing your older videos and noticing how the aircraft always maneuvered in a much more "arcadey" fashion, you animated them always way too close and slow for them to look realistic, but it got the point across.
Now your animation of aerial combat has gotten much better and looks much more realistic!

Personally, I think of those old animations as an intended style! Pretty sure they know what they're doing, but of course I prefer the new animations as well.

I wish our generation was like them.
My grandfather was a radio operator on a B-17, and made it through dozens of missions over occupied Europe. Watching this video, I wondered how many times he heard the screams of his fellows when their planes went down.
...too many man. That's the last thing one wants to remember, burning and bleeding men screaming...

@@FinleyLengel-rp2bm Wow. My grandfather _never_ talked about his war service. When I was a teenager, a heritage group brought a bunch of WWII planes to an airbase near my hometown. My dad and I went, and were stunned to see my grandfather (my mom's father) there, walking in and around the B-17 they brought. He still wouldn't talk about anything though. After my grandmother died (1991), we discovered in her house a scrapbook full of pictures and memories from his service. No one in the family knew it existed until everyone from that generation had passed on (probably because it had a bunch of pictures of ladies, none of whom were my grandmother ... pretty sure that's why she kept it hidden!). I recently inherited the scrapbook when my uncle (brother of my mom) suddenly died; I'm planning to get it digitized so I can share with other family members and with a veterans organization.

I don’t know how much backstory the movie will provide for each song, but I imagine that there will be some. So, in a way, they’re already making that video! :D
In 2000 i got to fly in a B17. Your graphics are excellent. People don't realize how thin the metal skin is on these planes. It's as think as the cardboard on a box of cereal. Having bullets and shrapnel easily go straight through the plane. Those men were incredibly brave.
I love these moments when they show real images of the planes and then their animations in the same position, it makes it way more immersive than it already is
Stigler is that reaccuring character that everyone loves. Your videos as well as sabaton have convinced me that he was a good man.

I have been watching Yarnhub for a while and listening to Sabaton “No Bullets Fly” story video by Yarnhub and noticed something familiar: This takes place on Dec. 20, 1943. The same day that the “Ye Ole Pub” flew on that famous mission. Was this B-17 in the same flight as the other, much more famous, aircraft. Also, this is such a unique story. Never heard of something like it. Keep up the great work, Yarnhub!
Just now decided to watch the last few seconds and realized that is was. Only thing is, though, is there any info on whether the two crews knew or saw each other? Again, keep up the great work and can’t wait to see ya’ll next week!
To think while the flying boats were rescuing this crew, a German was escorting another one home.

3:08 The screams of terror through the radio reminds of similar scene from the film Memphis Belle. That was probably they last movie made without much CGI.
The details on the human models are improving, and their movements are becoming more and more smooth. Compliments to the animators.

My jaw literally dropped when you revealed the “Ye Ol’ Pub” at the end! Amazing how many of these stories intertwine!
Excellent stories! Like the animations a lot. A similar thing happened with my Grandpa, he flew as a Co-Pilot in B-25s and 24s later on. During one sortie they had a direct hit around the nose and cockpit. It partially scalped & temporarily blinded Grandpa due to the blood and oil spray. It took most of the pilots head away, killing him instantly and severely wounded his crewman in the nose of the plane. He could see enough to take control of the plane and then they gained altitude as he didn't think theyd make it back, maybe having to bail. None of the crew bailed. He managed to land it safely though his eyes were almost swollen shut but after some weeks, he was able to get back to it. He married Gran during the war and would send her lots of little pencil and pen sketches of the planes, his friends and things. They had a special party once on the base for the local families and such and he played the clarinet in a throw-together band. Thats where they met and had their first dance together. When I turned 28, I took Grandpa up after I passed from my flying lessons and first thing he did when sitting in the seat next to me was to stick up a photo of Gran that she gave him in 1943 as a keepsake.
In just 3 years, yarnhub was from 2D animated videos now to these impressive videos, keep up the good work, looking forward to more videos.

Can u imagine the feeling in their body each time they think about those memories and remembering the adrenaline punch of this event, the fear of seeing all of your fellow bomber tearing themself aparts all arround you, the fear of dying, then killing all of these ennemie aircraft and surviving every next obstacles, + all of em surviving 10/10
Being the radio man had to be absolutely horrible. You had to hear every yell and cry as your allies went down. Props to this man for keeping his cool and having the wherewithal to keep fighting.
Altough war thunder is currently suffering from bad in game economy, i think the B 17 is low enough tier, where it is still playable. To anyone who wants to try it, I recommend playing ground realistic battles once you get the b17, as you will have enough experience to know, what to do. Have fun!

The tail gunner George Buske is my grandfather. This is a great video to see it can only imagine so much reading about it. There is a book Saving Sgt. Buske with great detail of the mission. Only concern is I believe he shot down the German plane
before going unconscious. He was a very humble man so didn’t tell much detail of the missions. Plus would say “ I passed out, don’t remember much lol” He was a great
man who is missed very much.

A couple of really cool details I spotted were the spiral on the German fighter’s propeller and the dog fight scene looked almost like ww2 footage at times with some color added. You guys never fail to amaze

Also when they are preparing the life raft, buske was sliding down the edge of the wing into the water but then vossler grabbed his waist with one hand while his other hand holding a antenna so they won't fall into the water
