    An additional Pro Winter Tip!: clean all the door seals with some kind of degreaser and then treat them with silicone spray or paste. Apply evenly all around the seals. This will prevent the doors from freezing stuck against the car when you go to open the doors when it's sub freezing outside. Additionally I recommend you do this treatment to your trunk and even hood to prevent the same issue!

    winter tires are truly a life saver, even when snow is plowed out of the way.. Even on dry, but cold roads, the winter tires perform way better in breaking, which could save you the next front bumper. Furthermore I like to have winter rims, which are more beat up from the salt and where it's not as bad to hit a curb that was covered in snow.

    No hate brother but I'd really look into winter tires. They aren't solely for driving on snowy & icy surfaces but rather the cold temperatures that come with winter. Winter tires typically use a much softer compound in order to maintain elasticity in freezing temperatures (they stay softer in the cold compared to a summer compound), which helps maintain grip. Keep in mind It's illegal to drive on summer tires in the winter where I live... (I hate the winter lol).

I personally just don’t know if they are cars that you should own if you don’t know much about cars. I feel like you have to absolutely love bmw’s and read up on their most common problems and look forward to paying a small fortune to keep it from getting messed up. I had a bmw and made the mistake of putting water in the coolant hole and I ended up damaging the car, causing it to overheat in the middle of the freeway. I really regret what I did to it but I feel like eventually something would have happened. Like I said you need to know a lot about, not only cars but bmw’s specifically. Greetings from Latvia, Europe! Hi Justin, I've been following your RUclips channel since the e90, because I also own two BMWs - an e90 and an f31 model, and previously, an e39 Touring (yes, yes in Europe mostly is popular estate wagons😆). You're doing a great job with your cars; keep it up!👍
    I'd like to make two comments about those OEM floor mats - please cut those transportation edges (there's a scissor symbol). I don't know why, but a lot of people do not do that.
    Secondly, when you change a car's battery, you need to code it to the car because the car has an IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) that regulates charging. If it's not coded to the car, you can easily damage the new battery.
    Good luck with your future work on your car!🚗😎

    To all the E46 drivers. If you have constantly foggy windows from inside, especially the windshield, check if your cabin air filter is wet. If it is wet, chances are pretty high that your windshield wiper cover is porouse or is just not sitting right. That way, the water will go under that cover and run straight onto your cabin filter, resulting in constant humidity flow into your cabin. In the winter you will be greeted with iced windows from inside. Much fun.

    Winter/snow tires are important! They're not only for snow, but for cold temperatures as well!
    Under a certain temperature (can't remember the number, close to freezing), the rubber compound of summer tires, and even all season tires, looses its gripping properties and can cause you to spin out (even on dry pavement). Also, since cold makes rubber harder, you end up wearing down your tires faster.
    Winter tires have a different rubber compound that is less efficient in warmer weather, but wayy better when it's colder! So they might wear out faster when it's hot outside, but not when it's cold, and you'll have more consistent grip when it's bellow freezing.
    Also, I'm not sure what tires you currently have, but if you have summer performance tires, it can almost be dangerous since they're way more affected by cold temperature and will wear out extremely fast. And if your 340i is RWD, slipping is way easier.
    I'm don't know what temperatures are like where you live, but if they're close to or bellow freezing for a long time, you should really get winter tires. They're mandatory in some places for a reason!

Cars actually have oil in the doors from the factory but after years of rain/ car washes, that oil needs to be replenished (or it will look like the pictures of my Avenger). You just want to do it when it’s warm enough for the fluid to level out inside the doors.

    Wonderful video and helpful advice except for the tyres. The tyre compound hardens with dropping temperatures. This makes your grip decrease. That happens as soon as you hit about 7 degrees celcius therefore winter tyres can be very helpful as soon as the weather becomes that cold and if there is snow already, then it might be a little too late already and winter tyres are required so it confuses me that you say that you didnt have the need for winter tyres yet, especially with a rear wheel drive BMW. Here in Germany we have laws that prohibit you to drive with summer tyres in the winter as it is a huge safety concern. I know that in north america lots if people are using all weather tyres but those are quite weak if there should be any more snow than shown in the video, although they can be better in those temperatures than summer ones.

    Why does the engine "howl" when it is in P (idle), it is felt inside the cabin like the sound of a mobile phone vibration, sometimes I increase the intensity, and sometimes the bass feels weaker? Please advice? ❤

    will not keeping ur car in the garage during winter cause more rust?

    • @justinbuice
      @justinbuice  Год назад

      the rust in the winter is cause by road salt getting on metal parts and not being washed off immediately

    Why is the rear diff "wet" at 10:00?

    • @justinbuice

      My guess is overflow from topping it off. I just changed the diff fluid a couple months ago.

    • @justinbuice
      @justinbuice  Год назад

      @@peterkukolik8402 it would either be the gasket or the fill/ drain hole. If you've ever had the diff fluid changed, they basically inject fluid in with a syringe until it overflows out of the hole. Unless you go in after and clean it with engine degreaser, it's going to look wet like that afterward. My guess is that's what you're seeing. I re-watched my diff fluid video and the differential was dry before we changed the fluid.
