- A Video by Maximum - Red and Blue Balls: Treasure Island was once considered to be the worst game in the Red Ball series, both from a casual and speedrunning standpoint. The puzzles in the game were unintuitive, the controls were lackluster, and the platforming left a lot to be desired, causing many people to completely avoid the game. Thankfully, speedrunners discovered a variety of double jump methods, which allowed for the game to be blown wide open, making it something that people actually wanted to complete as fast as possible. In the span of just two years, Red and Blue Balls went from being the longest game in the Red Ball series to being the very shortest. This video covers the double jump revolution that made it all possible.

Corrections:
9:59 - It is actually possible to get onto the gem platform with other methods, with motorjumping actually being the fastest. However, the charged MBJ remains the best choice for runners.
10:37 - It is possible to climb the wall without Pause Jumping, but it is significantly harder to do so. The PJ makes is what makes the strategy run viable.
11:08 - PurpleJuiceBox has actually implemented the double rock jump into his runs already.

This is what fascinates me about the scope of the human condition. For every game you've never heard of or barely played there's a community of at least dozen or so people competing constantly to be the best at it.

It's amazing how speedrunners can make a bad game interesting
I love how odd this game is from a game design perspective from the broken walkthrough button to the global timer being unpausable.
Interestingly enough, in gymnastics this concept of turning forward momentum into upward momentum is called "blocking". Note that most height of any acrobatic is due to them punching off of their feet which starts with their legs way in front of them. That's why the backhand spring is such a good move - the feet touch the ground behind them way before it's used to get a huge verticle.
Not only is it a very good method of turning speed into height, it’s also insanely terrifying to preform, especially at a full sprint. I swear, each one of those I did took a day off my lifetime.

That would be really cool! Unfortunately the lag is really inconsistent across machines so it probably wouldn't work. A tas with the jump timer simply disabled would definitely be interesting though.
5:59 you can do this in roblox (except you can jump infinetely if the other person has enough ping), so its no suprise that a roblox player discovered this

Frame perfect right press + frame perfect jump + two frame left press after hitting the corner of the second black platform. You can probably get more help in the discord.

i saw the mbj and knew something was yet to come, mbdj, midair buddy double jump, jump off of red, switch to red and pause for 0.5 secs, jump again, switch to blue and pause for 0.5 secs, jump off red, pause for 0.5 secs, jump off of red again and get extra height

It’s not exactly a double jump, but it is a high-jump technique. And it also has a lot of variations.
BJ: Jump on the inactive ball to convert horiz. momentum into vert. momentum
MBJ: Jump on the inactive ball, pause and switch color, unpause, jump, repeat that again
FMBJ: MBJ but faster
MMBJ: MBJ but the active ball needs to overshoot and the inactive ball needs to jump horiz.
CBJ: BJ but much more horiz. momentum than MMBJ
PMBJ: Mash the crap out of the Walkthrough button while doing an MBJ.
