Now I have to find the Ranch. I am just finishing my new place in the Middle of the Black Hills National Forest, with room for my Horse, Mule and German Shepherds that I raise. The Black Hills are Heaven to me.
When we raised beef cattle, we had calves with legs like that. An old time vet came to see us, and gave a calf a shot of Selenium. The calf was fine the next day... After that, we started using trace mineral with Selenium, and never had a problem again. Gave that to the cows, and when they calved, the problem never showed up again!
Good Morning Carson. So nice to see all the grandbabies with their Nana. She is so happy. Glad to see the season is almost over. It is a lot of work for you. I miss the blue skies today. Our days are not as cold. Daytime above freezing and the nights just a degree or more below freezing. Hugs to Damaris
A friend was deer hunting in Kansas. He came back to his truck and found the landowners cattle treating his truck like a lollipop. Made for a good laugh.
Thank you for addressing the comments and explaining. We all need to learn and you are making a difference. Again thank you for sharing a glimpse of your lives with us.
Awww bless that calve’s heart! Couldn’t figure it out and Mama is dumb as a rock! And all those precious babies! Bubby is drooling and chewing trying to get those tooffies!😊 Love and blessings from this old Bama girl!❤❤❤
I learn so so much from you!!! Thank you for always explaining the issues as they come up!! I had no idea about contracted tendons. I did grow up on a small ranch in southwestern Colorado. Nothing besides of your beautiful ranch!!! And I love the drone footage!! Exceptional!! And how you end the videos with your gorgeous amazing wife And little Silas!! Makes my day! All day long I watch for new videos and if you don't put one out I watch the old ones over and over and over! Can't get enough for the Sleep Ranch!!!! Thank you so very much for taking us along on your life's journey! Family and faith always!
Hi Carson, glad you got the footage of the calf licking your truck door. It must have been dried salt. Congratulations on getting to the end of the calving season. It is great that your sister and family are now to close by and you can spend a lot of time together as a family. Your parents are getting a nice group of grandkids.
Loved seeing your extended family, the two babies have the same haircut I have😅. Loved the drone footage of the beautiful country and the cows with all the calves running around. You all are blessed.
Wonder if that calf following you was one of your bottle babies or just wanted to say hi. You have some long busy days. The hide and seek was cute, my youngest would laugh so hard and always give away her hiding place. You have a beautiful family and home. Stay safe and healthy Carson.
Cool video Carson! Love seeing the family & little guy growing like a weed. The cattle looking very healthy. Wow, lots of turkeys! Always love a little drone footage too. Y’all be blessed 😇 ❤
Hahahahaha! Carson, I swear I laughed so hard that my coffee went to flyin' !! I am keeping your expression "her elevator doesnt quite go to the top floor" Omg, LOVE THAT! We had a calf with contracted tendons that made him walk all straight legged and it took a long time, but he ended up having perfectly normal legs. They sure do look weird for a while though right?
Hi Carson and everybody at Sleep Ranch!! I can not tell you (I've tried previously in other videos) to tell you THANKS for always producing wonderful family-friendly, informative, and always interesting content!! The calf licking the truck was hilarious. Just shows you that kids and small animals do entertaining things. Keep sending those videos! Even stuff you think is boring is great watching 😊
Very interesting, We have a couple feet of snow on our fields yet. Can't hardly believe you have so little there. I am in northwestern Wisconsin. Enjoy your videos very much. Beautiful son and wife you have.
Good days work . Love the drone footage and the turkeys. Looks as if they belong to y’all by the act of feeding them . Not state property now😂😂😂 have a great weekend and be blessed Carson
Hello Carson and family! So thankful that your calving is going well and almost over! We just started calving and Elsie got rolled by a cow this morning!😳 We asked her if she got it on video!?!🥴 Thank you for sharing and blessing to you!
Love the channel, I grew up on a ranch in Eastern MT and our cow herd looked very similar to yours. Everything you show is very similar to how we ranched and what we experienced even the pesky coyotes. Possible solution for the turkey problem, set up a propane cannon where you stack your hay, that might keep the turkeys out.
I had a calf this year with the tendon problem also. I can definitely relate. The comment I made about the red cows was just for fun. I run red simmental on black and red cows and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to color. Had a black cow with black calf last year. Red calf this year. Same bull.?. Your son is really growing. He is a handsome lad. Enjoy all your videos.
Hey Carson, yes, there are a few sayings around to describe someone/ animal that is a bit dim-witted. We say that they are a few Kangaroos short in the top paddock or perhaps a sandwich short for a picnic. I don't know where these sayings originated, but it's a more charitable way of stating the obvious in some circumstances. I noted one comment that mentioned Selenium to treat contracted tendons, be interesting to know the rate and how often he administered it. I know you will all be pleased to see the back end of winter, but for us Down Under, looking at the drone shots across the hills with the snow is very therapeutic. I tried skiing a few times many years ago. We went south to the Australian Alps, where it snows; it wasn't my finest endeavor. I ended up with the nickname Avalanche, and to this day, I still cannot work out why. Thanks again for the video.
The teething time is probably here. Never enjoyed that stage. Silas having cousins to grow up will be awesome for them. Btw we are having our never ending winter rain turning into spring rain. Pray for our farmers as their fields are under water. The snow melt hasnt even really started either.
I’ve heard of contracted tendons in calves and foals from a selenium deficiency. Have you ever heard of that? Ol’ hot stuff would look pretty good on a platter! My small hometown has turkeys that come in and winter in town. It’s been going on for a long time. The baby is growing so fast. Such a cutie patootie! Hi Demaris!
Winter needs to be over. Still have fences under 8’ snow banks from December blizzard in southern SD in draws. Not going to be a fun spring fixing fence.
Great drone shots and liked the followup on the calves. Just a question on the bottle calves, could they ever be adopted by another good mother that already has a calf? I'm sure you would do it if it was possible, just curious.
We had turkeys here on the farm and they were tearing stuff up and they made their way into town and they started perching on people's houses and garbage cans and getting really aggressive and chasing cars so DwR trapped and relocated them
Do y’all hire seasonal help? I go to sd mines right now and I’m looking to get into the industry even if I’m just getting experience I wouldn’t need to be payed much I know things are tight for everyone.

Thank you for taking the time to film your videos. So enjoyable
It is wonderful to see you fill the different roles: son, brother, uncle, Husband and Dad and rancher.
Thanks Carson for letting us share your day
Thanks for watching!

Thank you for explaining about the little calf's foot ... that just looked soo weird but I'm really glad it will heal on it's own.
Carson...I always know I can click the "Like button" on your videos before I watch. Thanks for sharing!
GREAT drone footage! That calf that was running to you looked sad when you told him that you weren't his Mom.
Yup...he stopped in his tracks when you told him the truth...lol

Awesome channel you guys are one of the reasons I decided to get back into cattle .
The Winter of 22/23 is never going to end.. Spring isn’t even trying from this Central Wyoming guy
The cattle all look so good---I am very partial to the calves--always love the little ones. I sure hope you have all heifer calves as they give birth.
The babies are so cute! Love the brown cows! 🐂
Glad all went well today. Glad you got the cows back to where they belong. And wow on all those turkeys…. Lol
Silas getting big fast 🎉
Very interesting, We have a couple feet of snow on our fields yet. Can't hardly believe you have so little there. I am in northwestern Wisconsin. Enjoy your videos very much. Beautiful son and wife you have.
When I was a boy dad fixed a gate just like your bull gate. I'm 69 now.
Selenium shot will help to straighten them front hooves out quicker. I get a few of those a year also
Them turkeys blow my mind. Should be a easy spring gobbler season for a little fresh meat. Nothing like wild turkey bites lol.
May God Bless you & yours!❤️
You should go in the turkey business. They will be ready by Thanksgiving
Always enjoy your videos but it was really nice to see your family 😊
Turkey season is getting close here in Illinois!! Can't wait. Hopefully see a bunch like you have on the ranch!
Love to watch you all. We have a small farm in Ky. I love the calves and hey we got so dumb cows also……lol
Stay blessed, y'all☝🏻❤

Enjoyed very much
It’s been a tough winter here in NW Nebraska for calving. Luckily we only have 10 left.
Great video and jokes 🤣

a 12 gauge would help with the turkey problem
Get more selenium in cows diet won’t get calves with legs like like the one. Been there done that. Works well
Just curious if you ever catch any turkeys for holidays?
Can we see the horses and how you feed them sometime please?
Calves look really healthy! That's one positive about constant cold weather. Have you doctored any?
Thanks! Yeah we’ve had a few with pneumonia and scours which is pretty normal! Hope things are going well with you guys!
💖🙏💖
Got some nice calves there mate. How many cows have calved now ruffly
Thanks man! We only have about 50 left now!
♥️
🤗
Do you have any bulls from Sonne Farms?
We don’t but they look like nice bulls!
You said that you sell turkey hunts, where is that information?
We do! It’s on our website and there’s a link to that in the video descriptions as well as on the channel page!
Do y’all hire seasonal help? I go to sd mines right now and I’m looking to get into the industry even if I’m just getting experience I wouldn’t need to be payed much I know things are tight for everyone.
Hey Bross, shoot us a message on Facebook!
What nationality is Jack, or is it Jock?
He is from South Africa!
Love your "tame" wild turkeys, lol, smh
I know it's not what u want to hear but dumb breeds dumb, it's a reason the survival of fittest
