Thanks to everybody for all their love and support for my mom. She was truly an inspiration to us all. She helped us through everything. Everyday we would laugh and sing. She taught us everything that we know and her kind heart is thankful for all of you. Respectfully B Phineas

Bud Phineas I like many others here loved your mom! She really made the show entertaining and she wasn’t even trying lol. What a sweet soul i could tell!
Bud Phineas so many years later and I just saw your mom on TV now (Buzzr channel) for the first time and cracked up. I had to Google her because she is naturally hilarious and her facial expressions are gold. Wish I could have found more images or videos of her in her older age. Her humor must have only gotten better with time.
Evelyn "Evie" E. Phineas (Finch) was born on October 15, 1944 in Harbor City, CA. She passed away on April 6, 2011 in Wilmington, CA surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Sam Phineas; three sons, Larry Phineas, Sam Phineas and Bud John Phineas; two daughters, Gina Phineas and Carrie Rivera; and six precious grandchildren.
I'll tell you the 100% truth , she was an absolute genius. Of course she was nervous, but she knew how to entertain the crowds and her nervousness instead of hurting her it completely empowered her and made people feel for her and want to root for her to win , even over 40 years later. A scout could have picked her up in a second and made a fortune.. 😊 a truly great woman... thanks for your support !
Bud Phineas She certainly missed her calling. She would have been a very gifted comedienne. I'm glad that she had a happy life though...she deserved it!

Ya I really miss the 70’s. At least everyone knew what gender they were and what team they belonged on and my mother was a stay at home Mom and the best music was made in that era!! We were lucky to experience it. We also knew what bathroom to use and we played outside and I walked a mile to school alone in a big city and people could hitchhike!! It was way better than it is now!!
I've watched this TV Series countless times and never saw this! I never knew my aunt was on this show! EPIC. Truly though, she was very very nervous because Auntie was the coolest lady on the planet. Miss her so much.
I'm sure others have already said it, but I have to say it too. To face a fear that terrifies you is courageous. To do so on national television is inspiring.
Greatest MG contestant of all time! Mega personality and a natural on camera. She could have easily been a television star. You could see how the audience reacted, and the celebrities on the panel couldn't get enough of her. They were entertained as much as we were.
She was precious. But, too bad she got nervous and blew the easy win in the tie-break by not answering "ironing". They should have brought her back as one of panelists.
Not only was Evie’s demeanor hilarious, but she brought out so much fun banter from the panelists. I haven’t laughed this much in ages. Thank you Evie!
Just who the Hell are you? Just because Scott made a positive comment about how much he enjoyed watching Evie and how much fun she was having, if only we had the opportunity to have that much fun with the well loved celebrities, I think that would have been so much fun. It's amazing how many hearts she touched. Because you are a buzz kill, and probably never even seen Evie, doesn't mean he thinks he owns the world. He never said that, if Evie didn't touch alot of lives they wouldn't have put the show on the I Net. That being said, you will not have anybody remember you unless they put you on the most negative, jealous, people to make it on the DICK list. You don't like what he says about the person that was fun and caring, simply don't read it, but don't make fun of someone simply for loving this wonderful person.
@@scottrogers2831 you are welcome, the days Evie was on "MATCH GAME" Is the only time I recorded that show. When I'm feeling down I will watch those episodes and it brings me out of the rut I was in. I have to say, at first I thought, why doesn't she say anything? After they showed her feet bouncing up and down, I paid more attention. She was so nervous and I thought, what a fun Lady. I was really sad when she was no longer on the show. From what I seenThe cast really liked her and had fun while she was on. I'll bet she was the life of the party. I cannot believe I just sat here for an hour and watched this. I was laughing so much I swear it feels like I've been occupied for about 15 minutes! What an awesome lady!! And I looked up her winnings. Good grief no wonder she about passed out! $600 in 1975 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $2,898.71 in 2020. That ain't chicken feed!
Holy crap! I didn't realize it was an hour-long. I just finished watching and wouldn't have known it was that long had I not noticed your comment. I guess time does fly when you're having fun!
I love how relatable she is! She makes me feel better about myself- like I’m an anxious person and I always feel awkward in so many social and different situations, but while she’s obviously nervous, she channels it into this very great way that’s funny and charming and lovable while still being herself and real. What an inspiration!
I have remembered the last episode (when she had to say goodbye) since I first saw it in '75. The thing that stuck out for me was her dry sense of humor when asked what she was gonna do with the $600; "Buy a house and a car"... I laughed out loud and Dick Martin got a huge kick out of it. I'm so happy to have found this!
I have watched these episodes with Evie numerous times especially when I'm feeling a bit blue and Evie brings me right out of it and I love 💕 it........
Wow! She was an amazing lady! You could feel the anxiety building and somehow she didn't break down and run off the stage crying. As someone who is married to someone with bad social anxiety, I really felt for her and think she handled herself splendidly. I'm not even an anxious person and I think that situation would have been tough.
I think this would be the perfect tape to watch in an entry-level non-verbal / psychology communication class to observe natural human behaviour. Her expressions are so honest and charming 🤣
@@teijaflink2226 I'm not rich. I was just thinking about all it took to be on that show - time off from work, traveling, taxes, etc. Winning $600, she might have ended up a bit over breaking even. Loll
Started watching these reruns of matchgame several months ago & just realized that Gene Rayburn was the best darn game show host ever. He included everyone in the room in the fun, even the stage hands. He created a party every day.
2020 has been a tough year for the entire world. Watching this video made me smile and laugh. I was saddened to hear your mother passed. This episode is a classic. What great woman she was!!!
What an adorable lady. I wish she would’ve won more. Thank you for sharing. I love Match Game 45 years ago & still do. Gene Rayburn was the absolute best.
This woman was a NATURAL comedian. In a different life she would have been celebrated as a genius comic. She may have been a housewife, but she knew exactly how to play this situation. What a pro.
Andy Kaufman on the Dating game! This is what she reminds me of! It's like they both took a wrong turn and ended up way out of place on these game shows! I loved the girl asked Andy a dating question and he just replies, "What?"
How many times have I watched this video of Mrs. Phineas and how many times have I laughed out so loud I worried my neighbors could hear me as I live alone. Love the class, dignity and absolute beautiful animation of showing her true self no holds barred through facial expression with few spoken words. What a great woman!
Like that was a goal for women back then. I grew up then and my mother was a psychologist. Too bad they don't appreciate stay at home mothers these days, that's what I ended up doing.
@A M Thank you. Since most mental health people want to blame any problems a person has on their mother, that model doesn't really make sense now with children being raised by daycare and schools and other extra curricular activities. It was great for my kids AND their friends who would always come over, and it allowed my husband to focus on his career and not worry if the kids would be OK.
Marriage and motherhood still are, and always will be, a worthy goal. They provide much opportunity for her, and for her family. It’s where the most women can have the greatest influence and make the most positive impact for good, for their families, and for generations to come.
My Mom auditioned for Wheel of Fortune and the first thing she said @ 79 yrs old was "I'm single"!! AND SHE HAD A BF!! Then as she told her hobbies, she said gardening and told the audience "everybody come get some tomatoes" the crowd was roaring ... then she did a line dance and had everyone clapping along!! I just lost her JAN 4th, her audition video will always make me LOL Rest sweetly Dearest Mom.... until we meet again!!
only you amateurs do not realize she was playing it up she cleverly knew every face she pulled...but honestly evie making faces does not make you a pro comedian..nice try tho..RIP ANYWAY EVIE..WE PROS SAW THROUGH IT THAT WAS FUNNY
Evie won my heart after seeing her episodes rerun this past week. I know I would've been just as nervous as she was. Darn it, she was so cute you couldn't help but root for her! I saw that she passed in 2011...I hope that she had nothing but good memories of her time on the Match Game!
She was fabulous🤣 Her facial expressions are priceless. Sorry to hear of her passing. I’ve viewed this video numerous times and I always get a good laugh. RIP
Fannie Flagg, one of the contestants, was the author of "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe," which was made into the movie ""Fried Green Tomatoes."
Never saw this before, but I gotta say...Evie was an absolute treasure. Also. credit to the show's producers for picking someone who was the polar opposite of the usual game show contestant. Maybe they sensed that the audience would adore her and identify with her nervousness.
She was one of the greatest contestants I ever saw . She was hilarious on that show . She reminds me of my beautiful mom . Same kind of sense of humor .
Evie was such a sweetheart that her inner loveliness came glowing through. Her husband must've just knew the moment he met her she was the one to walk through life alongside. Evie's angelic countenance gives this world stepping stones of happiness to tread upon as we make our way. RIP Evie. All your loved ones will meet with you again.
I grew up on this show, and have spent many days just watching repeats. How did I ever miss seeing Evie before? I thought this show was a delicious hot fudge sundae of game shows, but she's the cherry on the top I never knew I was missing. Her expressions and movements would be comedic genius from anyone who was a professional comedian. But she's the real deal, and you love and root for her from the very first minute. I wanted to cheer when she grew a little more comfortable, and stuck her tongue out at the audience boos on the last show. And her brief smiles showed she had a sense of humor about it all. During a brutally chaotic 2020, how wonderful to discover her at the end of it all. I can't imagine how she actually ended up on the show, and she must have been terrified in the days leading up to it. But thank heavens she went through with it!! Evie, you are a gift of pure joy. Sending thanks from 2020 back to you in 1975!
I had forgotten what a great show this was. So many good ones from that "Golden Era" of television, but Match Game has to rank right up near the top. Evie is priceless!
Evie is my all time favorite Match Game contestant. I have watched her episodes dozens of times and will never tire of her camera shyness and sense of humor. I bet she was a real hoot!
Awesome evie! ...absolutely could do a sitcom around her. Btw, her voice has a wonderful deepness and that’s another plus ...we need more evie’s in the world !!!✔️💯
She was a pretty lady. I loved her expressions. I can't imagine how I would be in front of all those people. And I think she handled the hard time they gave her very very well.
I remember this contestant! She was so funny, absolutely adoreable. Her facial expressions were priceless. You can tell that they've realized what a special treat she was and spent every moment they could with her. I distinctly remember how much Brett loved her. She must've been a wonderful person to know
Just saw this on buzzr one of my favorite channels and I laughed out loud so much. From the moment I saw her feet shaking I was like wow.. this woman is iconic. I'm 28 years old and I've been in love with Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett since I was little. She made me laugh out loud I was so happy to find this on RUclips. Love it. ♡
Poor Evie!! What a sweetheart! She is terrified though! She looked like she was about to either throw up or pass out! It always looks so much easier when you are on the couch watching the TV than when you are actually there!
I just saw this yesterday on our local station. I was so sad she eventually lost because they could have had her go on just to keep the viewers. She was great! Her facial expressions were golden.
I can totally relate to Evie, I would probably make similar contorted facial expressions and mumble to myself. There's a little bit of Evie in all of us!

The thing that stuck out for me was her dry sense of humor when asked what she was gonna do with the $600; "Buy a house and a car"... I laughed out loud and Dick Martin got a huge kick out of it. I'm so happy to have found this!
That look she gave when she won, "you mean I have to come back?"
😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣👌🏼👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤
Priceless!!!
Evie's facial expressions were absolutely priceless!
Oh God, I can't stop laughing...
Evie thought so herself....but she was one of my least favorites ever on ANY show. She was "ON" non-stop !
She was entertaining in the first episode but after that watching the same ole thing over and over again was annoying.
I have watched these episodes with Evie numerous times especially when I'm feeling a bit blue and Evie brings me right out of it and I love 💕 it........
@@daisyduke8656how sad that you found her annoying.
Wow! She was an amazing lady! You could feel the anxiety building and somehow she didn't break down and run off the stage crying. As someone who is married to someone with bad social anxiety, I really felt for her and think she handled herself splendidly. I'm not even an anxious person and I think that situation would have been tough.
She said so much without saying a word that I hung onto every peep she made.
Same!
She was a natural born comedian, even if she didn’t mean to be. What a delight!
agree!!! She has amazing comedic timing you can tell.
She was great. The control room was having fun with the camera shots, too. This was fun TV.
want to chat?
Talk about a female bob newhart
Evy was annoying
What a gorgeous woman she was ! Oh my gosh those beautiful eyes !
I agree 100%! She was very beautiful!! Love those eyes too!!
Who couldn’t relate to how nervous she must have been. One of the best tv appearances ever, bar none. Absolutely effing hysterical.
I think this would be the perfect tape to watch in an entry-level non-verbal / psychology communication class to observe natural human behaviour. Her expressions are so honest and charming 🤣
I am thinking it would be fun to show to my high school students before their speeches. They get so nervous!
This reminds me of a skit that Carol Burnett would do. Rest in Love, Evie.
Evie was accidentally amazing. What a cutie. They should have had her back from time to time maybe even on the panel.
Ahhhh, the 70s - back when celebrities smoked on set and $600 was something to get excited about. LOL
Little did we know, it's 2021 and all we can be excited about is $600...
1975 $600 Today's money: $2,917.27
You must be rich, I would be super excited about 600 even now.
@@teijaflink2226 I'm not rich. I was just thinking about all it took to be on that show - time off from work, traveling, taxes, etc. Winning $600, she might have ended up a bit over breaking even. Loll
I still get excited about $600
That eveie was a facial comic genius
When the Surgeon is taking out your Appendix the assistant is giving you a ******€
Started watching these reruns of matchgame several months ago & just realized that Gene Rayburn was the best darn game show host ever. He included everyone in the room in the fun, even the stage hands. He created a party every day.
Great comment Millie I never realized this until you pointed this out and you're absolutely correct in your assessment!!!
I agree with Richard Dawson
I think Brett is a real hamburger
I notice both Dick Martin and Brett were especially fascinated by Evie.
2020 has been a tough year for the entire world. Watching this video made me smile and laugh. I was saddened to hear your mother passed. This episode is a classic. What great woman she was!!!
She reminds me of Penny Marshall in Laverne&Shirley.
Shawni Ysais , yeah for sure ! 😬. They could be twins.
I thought so too
And Alice Ghostley...
She reminds me of Mo Collins when she did the character Lorraine on Mad TV
That was such a great show !!
Nowadays, Evie would be given her own reality show and deodorant commercial. Lol.
No lie! It's true.
With over a million followers on Instagram.
Deodorant commercial??🤣🤣🤣
I could watch 70’s game shows like this all night. So good. So real. Just good TV. I just LOVE Evie.
She's absolutely positively the best.... I missed this on on TV then but thankful I get to see it now !!!
I come to watch Evie when I need a lift. She’s a bright spot even in 2020 when there haven’t been too many bright spots!
Here's another bright spot for 2021...
🌷YOU are Special to God!🌷
@@heidilefevre2680 ♥️♥️ As are you! ♥️♥️ Thanks.💐
I do the same thing…every time I feel down I put Evie on…love her!
What an adorable lady. I wish she would’ve won more. Thank you for sharing. I love Match Game 45 years ago & still do. Gene Rayburn was the absolute best.
That's ok, I'm sure she was very Relieved it was over! And the audience was happy that she put herself out there for that long
This woman was a NATURAL comedian. In a different life she would have been celebrated as a genius comic. She may have been a housewife, but she knew exactly how to play this situation. What a pro.
She is so nervous and so cute

Lucy move over.
@MultiBagram Did I? Star Trek, right?
Andy Kaufman on the Dating game! This is what she reminds me of! It's like they both took a wrong turn and ended up way out of place on these game shows! I loved the girl asked Andy a dating question and he just replies, "What?"
I will never forget this lady she’s hysterical!!
How many times have I watched this video of Mrs. Phineas and how many times have I laughed out so loud I worried my neighbors could hear me as I live alone. Love the class, dignity and absolute beautiful animation of showing her true self no holds barred through facial expression with few spoken words. What a great woman!
Her looks were priceless! 15:19 19:55 20:08 41:01 So glad that the Phineas family has this online.
I love how when asked about themselves they always start with "I'm married" ... Love the 70s!!
Like that was a goal for women back then. I grew up then and my mother was a psychologist. Too bad they don't appreciate stay at home mothers these days, that's what I ended up doing.
I wish times were like it was in the 60’s and 70’s
Evie was priceless! I laughed until I cried! ♥️😘
I just love her vibe! It’s like she didn’t even know she was going to be on telly until the very moment she saw the audience lol
only you amateurs do not realize she was playing it up she cleverly knew every face she pulled...but honestly evie making faces does not make you a pro comedian..nice try tho..RIP ANYWAY EVIE..WE PROS SAW THROUGH IT THAT WAS FUNNY
Evie look like she was going to vomit at any moment. She is so sweet and so funny and she wasn't even trying to be.
I was thinking the same thing! Poor dear looks green
When game shows had real game show hosts.
GetVictd they were constantly drinking on this version too. What’s your problem?
Evie wasn’t the most successful contestant but she was an afternoon delight.
Evie won my heart after seeing her episodes rerun this past week. I know I would've been just as nervous as she was. Darn it, she was so cute you couldn't help but root for her! I saw that she passed in 2011...I hope that she had nothing but good memories of her time on the Match Game!
11 yr today ❤️
Living in this world today that’s so corrupt, I love watching these old game shows.
She was fabulous🤣 Her facial expressions are priceless. Sorry to hear of her passing. I’ve viewed this video numerous times and I always get a good laugh. RIP
I've just watched this episode on Buzzr TV and Evie Phineas was amazing. One of match game's most memorable guest in My book.
She looks like Sophia Loren and acts like Lucille Ball
I said the same thing, totally has the Lucy expressions.
Fannie Flagg, one of the contestants, was the author of "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe," which was made into the movie ""Fried Green Tomatoes."
I'll be damned I didnt know that thanks!
I just got around to reading that - she was talented and quite prolific
She is a very talented writer.
Really, I absolutely love the movie, such a heart warming but very sad story.
No! 🙄
One of the best game shows ever on TV. EVERYONE was a show on their own !😂😂😂😂😂
Never saw this before, but I gotta say...Evie was an absolute treasure. Also. credit to the show's producers for picking someone who was the polar opposite of the usual game show contestant. Maybe they sensed that the audience would adore her and identify with her nervousness.
I remember seeing her on match game when I was 15 years old. She was just as funny then as she was now. Thanks for the memories 😊.
She was one of the greatest contestants I ever saw . She was hilarious on that show . She reminds me of my beautiful mom . Same kind of sense of humor .
Love you Evie. wonder if her family knows she has a fan club, lol , sucks she having anxiety , but she is a riot .
Bud it is 2021 and this brought back so many memories of my neighborhood growing up and how fun this was to watch. Such a classically beautiful woman!
It’s painful to watch. I’m so proud of this woman.
what a great, hilarious woman. she really knew how to please a crowd. by far my favorite game show contestant of all time!
Did she end up with her own TV show cuz I'm telling you she's hilarious
I had forgotten what a great show this was. So many good ones from that "Golden Era" of television, but Match Game has to rank right up near the top. Evie is priceless!
We had no choices. 3 at the most and only on a certain day at a certain time. Who would choose this today?
Evie is my all time favorite Match Game contestant. I have watched her episodes dozens of times and will never tire of her camera shyness and sense of humor. I bet she was a real hoot!
Awesome evie! ...absolutely could do a sitcom around her. Btw, her voice has a wonderful deepness and that’s another plus ...we need more evie’s in the world !!!✔️💯
3:05 The shrimp festival in Gulf Shore is still going on till this day.
Who cares?
@@ChampippleD 🤣
Was Gene Rayburn one of the most well-dressed/stylish man or what? Also the innuendos he'd utter! He was fantastic.
Yes!!
I'd say it was more than innuendo!
He creeped on the women often beyond what was cute or funny. I loved him as a child but watching it now I find him offensive.
@@bluebee5266 It was a different era. Society views sure ha e changed since.
What a lovely lady
Bud, your mom was awesome! She should have got her own show. I loved watching her on tv. RIP Evie.
The eye roll when Gene turned his back was priceless!!!🤣
For sure !!! I love her !!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Agree!
The most cutest contestant Evie was adorable what a comedian she wasn't she was such a natural
Gene Rayburn is such a gracious host.
Evie is beautiful! Such fun. 💕
Such nostalgia, i do remember this show.....your mom is adorable 🥰
She was a pretty lady. I loved her expressions. I can't imagine how I would be in front of all those people. And I think she handled the hard time they gave her very very well.
I remember this contestant! She was so funny, absolutely adoreable. Her facial expressions were priceless. You can tell that they've realized what a special treat she was and spent every moment they could with her. I distinctly remember how much Brett loved her. She must've been a wonderful person to know
That's what my mother, and every other neighborhood mother looked like back then.
Truth
Yes, I thought the same thing. She reminds me of my own mother a little.
lmfao
Those outfits were all the rage in the 70s
@@davidarmitage4132 and those hairdos!
Love it. ♡
You pick two of the best female comedians. And your absolutely right she is up there with them wicked natural comic
Poor Evie!! What a sweetheart! She is terrified though! She looked like she was about to either throw up or pass out! It always looks so much easier when you are on the couch watching the TV than when you are actually there!
The 1970s version of MATCH GAME is a classic, which is more than can be said for its most recent version on ABC.
OMG! How cute was she?
I could watch her all day long!
I just saw this yesterday on our local station. I was so sad she eventually lost because they could have had her go on just to keep the viewers. She was great! Her facial expressions were golden.
This was absolutely fantastic. Your mom is absolutely adorable! I love the old reruns of Match Game, reminds me of being a little kid.
Me too!!
It sure does Michael!!!
God Bless Evie!!
I can totally relate to Evie, I would probably make similar contorted facial expressions and mumble to myself. There's a little bit of Evie in all of us!
28:33 I love when Richard does his little impressions of Paul Lynde. 😂
A pure comedian even through all of her nervousness. Love!
