I am glad to have lived at the right time to be able to enjoy this drummer. I became a fan of Rush in 1980 when after listening to Permanent Waves I decided to go back to the record shop for 2112 etc. Very soon I had the entire collection of Rush's albums. The music, this man has left us, is a gift. Whether, or not, it's yer thing, you have to say it's extremely good. He is up there with the likes of Ginger Baker, Jon Bonham, Keith Moon, Clem Burke, Stuart Copeland and the list goes on. He really was my favorite drummer because of Rush and the extraordinary quality of the music they made. You couldn't have picked a better trio and those lyrics, that really is something we've, sadly, come to the end of. Thank you Neil for your great works. RIP
What a beautiful tribute Ruben____Long time Rush/Peart fan... Percussionist, lyricist, writer, rider (motorcycles), husband, father, friend, but most of all, an inspiration to millions____Rest your body now and just know, you're right where you belong... amongst the heavens and the stars... Thank you, R.I.P. Neil
is so rare to see a man of true greatness that when you find one its life altering and sears itself into your mind and heart so many people have a bit of neil peart in them dont forget your inner neil, take him out for a walk once in a while
Lovely reaction. Its how we all feel. i have been a fan since 76. seen rush many times, and had the privilege to be front row once so i saw Neils work first hand. A very quiet and private man and an inspiration to all. Such terrible family losses and battles to come back stronger. i feel like a piece of me is gone as i did when they announced no more in 2017. I bet the man upstairs is saying, WOW THIS GUY IS AMAZING. rip Neil and thanks for all the music, books and fun over the last 45 yrs. p.s. when i hear thunder now i will know you are having a warm up backstage.
He was NOT an Atheist. He grew up in a Christian family, and from reading a lot about science and literature in his early adulthood, and especially from his tragic life, he became AGNOSTIC. Which means he doesn’t deny the existence of God, but he doesn’t have faith or belief in any religion. Listen to their song “Faithless”
As a guitarist for 27 years and a Rush fan for that entire time, it wasn't just his playing that inspired me... it was his lyrics that were the biggest, most influential thing in my life. He was private, hated the spotlight, yet was a master of words. His words, especially from the mid 80's - mid 90's were some of the most potent in the music industry and pulled me out of some dark places, from the brink of the edge, back to life again. His is the only death of a person I didn't personally know, that made me legitimately cry... and still does :(
A true MASTER in the drumming world, he changed the game and left everyone else in the dust. I am forever honored to say Neil Peart was the main reason I became a drummer. His power, execution, hands and feet of a GOD is something that I will never see any else do in my lifetime. “Exit the Warrior” Neil Peart: THE PROFESSOR RIP
Very touching react. Neil will live forever. Sad day. The master. "Suddenly, you were gone From all the lives you left your mark upon" Afterimage - Rush
I saw Rush for the first time when they came to the UK in 1977, it was jaw droppingly brilliant and continued up until the last time that I saw them live in the UK in 2013, RIP Neil one of the best ever drummers the world has seen, the music will live on as he will in our hearts.
I saw Rush live many years ago during the Permanent Waves tour and again for the Moving Pictures tour. Rush was such a powerful trio I was blown away! Neil's drum solo's were mind blowing. The music world lost one of the best rock drummers to ever work a drum kit. His talent was much deeper than playing the drums. His contributions to Rush's music made them the great band that they were. So sad to see him gone.
Very nice reaction vid, it's a hard pill to swallow that Neil is gone. I am so grateful that youtube has many videos to watch and remember what an absolute master percussionist he was and nice guy too.
It's a sad day for the world of music. My heart sinks low for our loss. The influence and inspiration will never die. May peace be with you, Neil Peart.
nice emotional tribute Ruben. We've all been a bit teary these past few days. Sincerest condolences to Carrie & Olivia & all the Rush family. Keep up the good work, Ruben.
Thanks Ruebens, now you know the master and why many of us so love Rush...the man was a genius drummer and lyicist, dig in my man, you won't be dissapointed, thanks for this..I miss him already.
They were three of the best musicians all in the same band. What a mix. Lucky enough to see them live. Love the way they have got you in their spell. It’s a great journey. Enjoy
RIP Professor. Thank you for the music which will never die. You made my youth and adulthood special. I have been a Rush Fan since 1978 and 21 shows. The world lost a special man.
Awesome reaction, Ruben. Can tell you're feeling it as we all are... Neil...Rest in peace, brother. I'm glad to have seen you at your best SOOOOO many times. Gonna play it LOUD AND PROUD for YOU tonight! ALL.....NIGHT....LONG!!!!!
I don't know how many times I've watched this solo, but those double handed crossovers near the end still give me chills. Every. Single. Time. Farewell to the King.
There is never love without pain. Man was he loved because we are all on so much pain. It’s hard to end a 45 year relationship. I’ve been obsessed since I was 10 years old. His lyrics have touch my heart and changed my life. Thank you Neil RIP Thank for honoring Neil. I will continue to watch your reactions.
cried throughout the whole tribute, thank you my friend, saw rush over 20 times, I appreciate your reactions and comments to Rush, continue to explore and dissect their phenomenal music, Neil lived nearby for over 20 years, unbelievable human being, Bless you my freind
Have been crying for two days for a man I have never met. That’s the impact he has had on me these last 40+ years. Don’t think I can ever listen to Losing It or The Garden again without the water works starting. RIP Professor
@@25newrush Absolutely my friend, it's been incredibly difficult, it has not stopped raining here non stop the news hit yesterday, pouring tears from above! So many celebrities and musicians have passed that i admired, and had great respect for, but none saddened me like the passing of Neil Peart. RIP and godspeed brother. Exit the warrior...
True, Joe....another analogy: George Burns was always considered a comedian's comedian. Likewise, RUSH (including Neil) are a musician's musicians. They inspire every genre, every generation, and their music will live on. In 92 years, my great great grandson, his son and grandson will all be enjoying 2112 in 2112.
Neil always said he stood on the shoulders of giants. This vid proves that, he pays homage to so many that came before him. He was also a student of his instrument, and took lessons from the greats for as long as he could. Truly "your favorite drummer's favorite drummer".
You're right. We should be grateful that we got to benefit from their music. Phenomenal group, phenomenal drummer, phenomenal guy. Live-changing stuff for so many of us. RIP professor.
This man touched so many lives through his drumming and his lyrics. I am one of those. His drumming unlocked a passion for my own playing that shaped me into the person I am today. Drumming pretty much defined who I am, and Neil was my first and biggest influence. To borrow a line from Rush’s Lakeside Park, “Though it’s just a memory, some memories last forever” RIP Mr. Peart. You will be remembered.
Thank you for your reaction. I actually teared up. I have been listening to Rush since 1981. I've been to several concerts. Neil Peart is my primary drumming influence. The loss of Neil to the rock drummer community is devastating.
As a 14 year old boy, I first saw them in 1984, during their power windows tour. They are my favorite bad, with amazing technical and emotional skills. I continued to attend every tour, up until their last in 2015. I believe I attended 13 shows, over the years. Neil Peart was an inspiration, so intelligent, so technically, so humble. May his memory be eternal.
The Excellent Drum solos of Neil Peart are brilliant, This was a great loss and will be truly remembered for everything im sure people would never have actually picked up drum sticks and start playing if they had never heard Neil Play. His Playing is so inspiring and hes a true drumming legend. RIP
Great drummer, great lyricist, great inspiration and most importantly a great man! There are so many things that could be said, but as always I think that we should just let the music speak for itself
1983 my brother send me a casset Power Windows a Walkman Sony, play the casset since that day connected to Rush and Neil Peart....RIP..Maestro....I went to you magic act three times in my life...

I have watched this solo on many channels over the last few days. Every time my eyes well up at this loss, I can't even imagine how Alex and Geddy took this. They had to know, Mike Portnoy knew. I can't remember in my 50 years of life not being influenced by Rush. Neil is with his daughter and wife once again. That is the only upside I can see. Rest well professor. You will live on forever in your music.
Ruben, I have never commented, but I love your reactions. Rush's "Afterimage" should be your next reaction. It was written by Neil about a friend of the band's dying unexpectedly. A short beautiful tribute. Thanks for your heartfelt response. Please, check out Afterimage.
Ruben thanks for this reaction, especially the part where you seemed to be on the edge of becoming very emotional. Honestly -- because I do not listen to current black metal or death metal -- I often ask myself if I'm wasting the time of you and others on this channel, but when I get to enjoy seemingly genuine reactions like that, to flashes of brilliance in other genres, it reinforces to me why I hang out here. Thanks to all the black metal and death metal fans here for putting up with those of us here for other genres. Finally, respect to Neil and to all his fans,, past present and future.
