In a Few Words Gorgeous, historic, rustic amenities, on the road trip to more epic, western or destinations.
Closest trips to Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, and the Capitol of WY, Cheyenne and the biggest Daddy of them All Rodeo
    Insider Information 4354’ elevation
    - Annual Silt Run is after July 4th and drains very low for a week or two closing boat ramps and water activities for most of the month even as the dam closes to allow the river to refill the Guernsey reservoir slowly back up.
    - Best time to visit late Spring, early Fall, otherwise it might be too cold overnight or too hot in the day; either way there’s usually a 10-20° difference between the high and low temps in a given day.
    - It’s a dry climate so it’s not as buggy as other parts of the country but plan to drink much more water to avoid dehydration.
    - Dark skies and remote area allows for great star gazing
    - You can see very far away with the amazing long distance views. Binoculars are great here to bring a closer view of wildlife, birds, rock formations and magnify your vision of the west.

I love seeing pioneer wagon ruts. So cool. This is a very state park. We were headed out of the heat so we didn’t stay more than one night on our way to cooler temps. We will definitely keep this park as a favorite to revisit 🚐💫

We love camping there! We took a hike and found some amazing geo and rocks. Took a little drive to the rock with pioneer signatures and wagon ruts too.
