  • Beavers Bend State Park in Hochatown, Oklahoma: A Favorite Campground for 25 years
We are Bill and DeAnna Edmister of Living the Silver Life and are full time RVers. We’d love for you to join our Nomad Family so you can come along for the ride and ‘Get Up & Get Out.
In this weeks video, we are leaving Texas and starting our trek back to New York. We are making a stop at one of our favorite state parks. We’ve camped here for 25 years. It was a favorite of our girls too because of the train, horseback riding, and the golf cart that came around the campground selling snow cones and ice cream. Bill has always enjoyed fishing here, and we both enjoy the hiking trails. We’ve seen a lot of changes through the years, but not near as many as we saw this time. They have added a full hookup area where the group cabins used to be, built a new large group lodge, added a lot more cabins, added yurts, and tore down the ice house for a four wheeler rental. It has so much to offer. No wonder it’s a favorite of so many.
The town of Hochatown has grown so much too since we started coming. At one time, there were a few stores, no place to eat out, and very few houses. You had to drive 7 miles to Broken Bow to buy groceries. But now, it is a destination for bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, girls weekends, and family events; plus so much more. They have tons of rental properties outside of the park too. Now, they have quite a few restaurants, wineries, breweries, a market, a maze, a bowling alley, and more. Once the big Choctaw Casino opens the town will very quickly grow exponentially. We are eager, but a little nervous, to see how it’s grown on our next trip here.
Join us next week, as we make a trip to Queen Wilhemenia State Park in Arkansas. We are inching closer to New York.
    Hope you enjoy the video.

That’s a nice motorcycle with a beautiful side cars quite special never saw one like this 🤩Nice camping sites next to the water 👍they must all be year round rented and not day rental ? Lovely little bridge over the river must be fun to stand on and look at the river . I taught Bill had plenty of flies already…I know there’s always one missing in the tackle box …Lol! 🤣🤪 Beautiful river for fly fishing 🎣, I used to do fishing and sometimes fly fishing but I gave all my fly fishing tackles to my son Frédérick…he’s just crazy about fishing! Bill did caught some nice ones 👍
That little deer wasn’t to scared . Really is a wonderful campground 🤩 A brewery also …what can you ask more 🤪🍻

We have a family reunion there for my side of the family, and we rented a cabin. They are really nice too. That casino is going to change the little town.
