Tried all of the suggested solutions on youtube, and almost gave up. The last one worked, I turned off the washer, then used a hairdryer to lightly heat the start button for about two minutes and it worked. It was either the severe cold weather we are having causing condensation/moisture to affect the button. After heating with the hairdryer for a few minutes, I turned the washer on, then selected a cycle, then pushed the start button and it worked.
It is really great 👍 I have done it myself now it started working thanku for the solutions I had no money to give for service it is very helpful this video thank u 🌹🙏🙏🙏🙏 once again
Been dealing with a finicky button for years. This worked for my LG washer. The filter typically will have a debris like a lead in there. Once I clean it works good again!
Excellent i cleaned up the filter then i tried to empty the machine then i use hair dryer to heat up the start up botton because sometimes there is a moist inside the buttons. Then it really work for me❤
After unplugging, I spray electrical cleaner in the crack of the button, and press it about 10 times to clean it, plug it back in, and it works for a few months before needing another spray.
@L Schade I spray CRC QD Electronic Cleaner into the crack of the on button on the washer without taking off the button, but I make sure I unplug the washer first and I wear safety glasses because the spray may go into my eyes.
Sometimes is the button itself, or the pin behind it pushing the actual button on the circuit board. I had this issue and while the button was completely irresponsive the LG ThinQ app was able to remote start the washer (I needed to enable the remote start beforehand, obviously). I'll try to remove the front panel as soon I've some spare time and try to fix it.
My two cents: We leveled ours and it is working at the lightest touch like new. Installation was done incorrectly. Before you call someone do the ThinQ as we did. It helps to diagnose problems. You for sure know it’s not the expensive parts, which the people who looked at it wanted to replace.
Victory at last !!! Thank you so much for this comment, I feel like crying after watching and trying so many solutions but it was the comment that saved me at last !!! 😭😭😭
I’m so so glad it helped someone. Most of the LG machines in the US have most likely a leveling problem. You can not diagnose a Tesla like 20year old car. Most technicians don’t understand that there is much more than wires to it. Sad to say but maybe the lack of knowledge of some technicians make us pay unnecessary repair fees. The tip I was given: Level your machine 1-2 times a year. Replacing main parts is a ripoff.
Pls I'm using LG 5 KG when the start button press the intensive light comes up ant the washing machine will not work even no button will work as far the intensive light comes up , pls what will be the problem thanks.
Hmmm I have been dealing with this for years. I push on the button at different angles pressure and eventually it works. I have known about that filter since day one and always clean at least twice a year but it has never helped with the button. I always figured it was just bad contacts under the switch. I will try to open and close the door and put pressure on the door to see if maybe it’s that. That is more plausible. The filter has no sensors so it can’t tell if it’s clogged. Not to mention that is more of a basket than filter and really can’t get clogged with the large openings. Not discounting that just think that part of the solution is less likely.
Did not work for me. Thanks for sharing though. I took off the front panel and I believe their is an open on the board. I will tackle that another day.
been having this symptom for a couple of years now. Usually I can wiggle the button side to side very quickly and can get it to start. Recently I was beginning to think it would not start so got on RUclips just to see what was involved with changing the switch or getting to it to spray some contact cleaner. My drain hose did not release any water. Tried to blow back into it with no results. Cleaned the filter (never cleaned before) but my problem still exists. Fiddled with the door latch and still no luck. I bought this machine used for a 100 bucks 7 or 8 years ago. Think I will keep my eyes out for another machine.
@@blessings3027 I just followed the directions on the video. Cleaned the filter and rubber drain hose, made sure all the water was out, put everything back, plugged it in and hit the start button. It functioned as normal. This is a good thing to do before you start replacing parts like the start button.

This worked for me. Thank you! I was about to order a replacement door switch, but it turned out to be just a clogged filter.
After unplugging, I spray electrical cleaner in the crack of the button, and press it about 10 times to clean it, plug it back in, and it works for a few months before needing another spray.
where exactly do you spray the cleaner, and what cleaner do you use? need advice!

Should the knob to switch between the cycles be hard to turn? Or should it be switching as you turn it
I followed your instruction and solved the same problem. Thanks !

What do you mean by leveling the machine

It works. But I also had to use the hairdryer on the button to melt the condense…

What will happen if the filter of my machine wont come out and stock inside
Hi, my button is loose. How do I get the machine apart to see what is going on?

The problem is due to moisture.
Play button is not working
Didn't work 😔
No Sense to accept this way of fixing this problem. Its not the reason of play button not to work
Pretty crazy because I tried alot of other stuff but this worked.
What did you do to get the start/pause button works ??
