I've always felt that these 3-cylinder OMCs always had more power than advertised. Quick acceleration and great top-end speed. The sound brings back great memories! Thanks for sharing!
Those Evinrude and Johnson 55 horsepower motors had a unique sound. Those motors were also the start of a new era for OMC. The prop hub exhaust system.
@@Mesagsp ya I was looking at other ones but there out of my price range it’s my first time getting a boat the motor works and it’s clean just hope I won’t have too many problems I will probably use it for now and upgrade in the future
I had a 1970 60 evinrude , the electric shirt shorted out and shifted into reverse at full speed and blew the gears out the side of the lower unit, and those Motorola powerpacks were toast if you didn't have a good battery connection and they cost 400 💰 back in the early 80's 😢@Mesagsp

Thanks! They are cool old motors

How great is this?? This girl will remember this for the rest of her life, this moment will last forever.
A beautiful captain and a very nice boat. Sure bring back memories
I had a '69 Larson/55hp Evinrude that looked very much like that! That brings back some memories.
Love it, I own a 66.....just love the classic simplicity
Pain to fix but damn if those selectric lower units weren't super slick.
Awesome video. I have the identical outboard but on a 1968 Brunswick Lark boat.
got one of these myself. $100 haha. put all my test motors on it. had 3 70hp motors on it this past summer. really flies!
gotta love the wood grain "55"!!!
Wow that thing cooks with that little 55 on it
how long is the boat
Is this a good motor are you still able to get parts for it?
I would say there are better motors. The electric shift is not very reliable and parts are hard to get
