    This was SO HELPFUL! I’ve been wanting to get my first piece of hardware gear to pair with the preamps in my Neve 88M. I’m mostly a vocalist, and my wife does VO/audiobook narration. I figured a compressor would be the best for those applications, and I think this one might be it! Thanks Alec😊

    Would you use this when tracking drums? Or just for "re-amping"? I need a good compressor for a kick or snare to go through when I'm recording, and vocals. I'd need a few so the cheaper price is appealing. Thanks.

    Great review ! It’s the first one I’ve checked out that doesn’t do a direct comparison to the original which is kinda nice. I’m hoping that the warm unit will help people currently living in a box to hear and understand the euphonic qualities of hardware.
    On a side note: Are you familiar with D.A.V. Audio gear ? Very affordable and absolutely stellar quality. They are a secret weapon used by Classical music recorders at every level.

    Warm Audio always manages to get the looks of the original device right, the knobs, the colors, the metres, the fonts used. Only thing is, that the sound is completely different. From pedals, to preamps to compressors - they never get it right. I am really close to saying that this company is harmful to people who are new to recording and mixing, as they might believe, they buy a clone of the original, while they buy a completely different thing, that sounds completely differently. Can still sound good though, no doubt about it.

      You sound like a hater. Who gives a crap if warm audio units don’t sound the same as originals. Even originals don’t sound alike. Warm products are excellent sounding with high quality lines amps and Transformers. I own state of art vintage gear from Api 325 pres, Ampex 351, Motown eqs and 1176. I certify that warm audio 1176, tonebeast, neve clones and the new tube 1B comp sounds world class. It’s like comparing apples to oranges. Enough of this hater feedback.
      When warm audio didn’t exist you all bitched about not being able to afford these pieces. Now they are available and you wine and moan. You sound like you have no life.

    • @nicefish10
      @nicefish10 10 месяцев назад

      Anyone who’s ever used or owned the real thing will hate it and hate that it is marketed as a cheap CL1b. This is probably the worst piece that warm audio makes next to their 1176. But if you’re 14 years old and you’re trying to become a rap producer, it might be fine. It is to be priced about $500 to even have the price point value be anywhere in the ballpark. There’s so many other devices out there that smoke this thing. The bottom end, and the low mids fall apart when you could press more than 5db.

    On every single demo video of this piece of gear, the low builds fall apart when you start compressing more than five db. The same thing holds true with their 1176. There are about a dozen other videos out there about this device and they all have the same problem. I understand that people get excited when there’s a new cheap piece of gear out there that because the flavor of the week but stating that this thing is awesome it’s really misleading. I think it’s awesome if it was priced at $500. The price point and it’s at you’re better off to save a few more dollars and get the Heritage Audio Tubsessor.
