Thanks for doing this. On this particular comparison, I like the way the Lindell rounds/smooths out the vocal.

Lindell sounds cleaner to me. I love it on this vocal.

Manley has that high quality control on the top end which most professional units possess such as Pultec, urei, etc.. Very balanced and almost levels the sound, although i am very surprised by Lindell, a few tweeks on the EQ and it's getting there for a fraction of the price, very smooth aswell indeed!

For her vocal, definitely the Manley. They all sound great tho. Blown away on how good the Lin2A sounds in comparison to the 1B and ELOP. Your recommendations don’t miss Czar

They all sound good , but i would go with the Manley as it is built the best and I had a few problems with WARM audio stuff in the past!

Perfect example for an Opto shootout.

lin2a is really good for the price. so is the 1176 they make. scary good, ELOP has that sheen though. All of them great.

I really liked the way you did this shoot out, not too short or too long with enough examples to illustrate the differences and switching back and forth without pauses in between. I was just thinking towards the end that imho we can all geek out about the differences but any of them would work especially given you're going to be eq'ing separately anyway. And then you kind of said that yourself. Having said that, I'd probably shy away from the Manley if I had to choose because I felt, for this example, it closed up the vocal too much on the swells. Not exactly choking it but maybe just a hint to my ears. The Lindell and Warm Audio still kept it under control but felt more open. So, in this shootout I'm not going with "you get what you pay for" and I'd buy the Lindell

They sound good honestly! the 2a sounded smoother it really helped tame the harshness I can always add a little high-end to get the same sound of the other two compressors for 700 that's a real steal wow!

I prefer bright as well and it was noticeable with the Manley. Money aside I would go with the Manley.

In my opinion.Compressor should not impart any phase.issues (ie) should be no eq or "air" circuit. Definitely no brightness involved with dynamics,,maybe some Harmonics, but that's not what I was hearing. Lindell been had my heart wit the lin76. That thing just smooth. My opinion tho. I respect yours

I really like the warm audio wa1b and I recently found a company that mods the wa 1b and it sounds almost identical to th cl1b

    Price points make an interesting argument - Cost per channel the ELOP @ $1650/ch, WA-1B @ $1200, Lin2A @ $700
