  • Incredible craftsmanship! ✨
Chusen is a traditional, hand-dyeing method unique to Japan which allows for double-sided reproduction of delicate designs. Most popular items are colorful tenugui (hand towels) with Japanese designs that can be used as home decor.
At the Tenukuri Kobo in Tokyo, you can make your own tenugui!

"The dyeing technique called (*)’Naga-ita chugata zome’ has been improved at the beginning of Meiji period, and the ‘Chusen’ technique has been used for mass production."
Might be just me, but I'd not consider that to be "traditional". It's nice, beautiful and interesting without any doubt! But I'd not call it traditional.

It’s an aesthetic choice. The small different area make the whole piece more interesting and beautiful.
