It was a present to my mother . You just have to know where to get them from , Private auctions in Japan are the best way to get good quality or hard to find items for a good price . But yes some truly exceptional kimono can get way over 500 000 dollars . I once saw a Kimono at an auction go for 4 million dollars , but you need to think of it as masterpiece of art , those Kimono are not bought to be worn, but to be exhibited as masterpieces . No difference at all between some exceptional Kimono and exceptional paintings .
That's very interesting. I'm an artis and I love kimono and I always wanted to have a hikizuri one day. Now I'm working on a project to design my own kimono 😊
For the truly interested novice artisan aspirant, this is a simple-minded "nod" to the fantastic historicity and artistry of these designers. Extremely "superficial..." introduction to this great art and its people. I'm glad there is even this much...though. Even with Horridly inappropriate, "Music." LoL 😉 Lisa Rae Rousseau 🤗💯
What is the name of the artist doing the painting? I would love to get in touch with him ... this is not an art form that should die out and if given the chance I would apprentice to it.
I own a Hikizuri , a type of Kimono Geisha wear , made by this artist's father and this is an absolute masterpiece .

I would love to know what type of paint dye do they use 😫😭
I am also curious.
What kind of ink they are using to paint the motifs?
I would be so mad if I messed up, painting that.
