Hey guys! Today I'm talking about a favorite of my childhood. Muppet Classic Theater was a direct to vhs movie from 1994 that very few people ever bring up. It centers around the Muppets putting on a play about six different fairy tales. Hopefully, you guys have fond memories of this one like I do. I don't have too much else to say, so I'll just let you watch the video.

I have to agreed with you about the Wolf, he's is my comfort muppet character rather than Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo. It sucks we never seen him in any muppet specials or the movies, Jim Henson Productions/Disney needs to bring him back because he's so underrated!

I remember seeing this VHS when I was younger as well! This, along with most of the Fairytale VHS' from Hallmark. Oh, and to add another request, could you try to review the Muppets.... other Christmas movies? There's "It's A Very Muppet Christmas" where Joan Cusack actually played a villain, and "Letters to Santa" where THE Michael Bloomberg makes a cameo appearance. And also Whoopi Goldberg is in both of those movies I just brought up.
I will make sure both of those are on the list! I haven't seen either but they sound wonderful. 😊
I missed Rizzos joke about Gonzo being typecast every time as a child, and even on my first watch of this video, but my god that's gold 🤣 Rizzo is a savage and I love him 😂

YES DUDE YES. We had this on VHS and as a kid I would watch it over and over and over again, it was one of my comfort movies! Soo good! That s*** brings back some of my best memories!

Also, I have a faint memory of this, but it might be from watching it in my 20's. getting Muppets translated into Norwegian was rough. We had the "Muppets at home" version, which was Sesam Station instead of Street. XD

With all these movies and other various media you cover, I am convinced you and I had the same childhood. This was LITERALLY one of my favorite vhs growing up, and literally nobody knows what I'm talking about when I bring it up LOL

I was so scared of that werewolf as a kid, solidified my nightmares for muppets even though I loved them.
Oh no! Puppets are a fear I work through to this day but for some reason every Muppet (including that wolf) seem super huggable to me.

but you know muppets are awesome and like I will always have a soft spot for them. Because they bring me back to my childhood. Like the florida key comercial. I pretended I was a hula dancer back then.
We had this as kids. Super nostalgic, but yeah..like no one else knew what this was so its always a joy when someone brings it up online. Im pretty sure there was a scene in a muppets movie wherr they introduced Ms. Piggie to the "Shes a Brick House!" Song so the wolfs line is extra funny by that wink to the audience. I think the origional moral was to be aware of your life choices. The first two pigs kind of jumped into independency very quick and ignorantly. They always but thir material fast and from the first two vendors they find. Sticks and straw are also light so it impies an air of laziness. The third pig typically is portrayed as still working when the other two are already done since they put a little more forsight into the long term of his choice. The orgional also hoes further with the wolf trying to trick the pig ino comming out three times and the pig reversing it on them for the most part. The story can be construed as a lesson for life choices as well as financial investment or even farming. The first pig grabs the earliest material, and it doesn't last at all. The second one grabs the slightly more substantial sticks soon after and it doesnt help much more. Neither waited or had to put much effort into getting their house but the third pig did and it paid off. This is comparable to the diifference in shrot and long term investments on a one time scale. Further it can be similar to crops. The first pig grabbed what was growing as soon as it fruited and got little out of it. The second got to it a little later but still just nearly nothing. The third pig is payient and puts more work in so their payoff is mutual to what he put in like their siblings. but thar meant a lot more for him. I accidentally typed "the first pug" so now I want a veraion with the three little pugs..pugs are always little..im usre it already exists..I want it in puppet form now though, which im sure exists..the internet.
I mean..the orgional wolf got boiled and eaten by the pig so..fitting reversal?
Love that they role reverse with Midas being a peace loving king who doesn't covet gold and is the one turned despite having the power still but ita his wife who wants it and she takes thebplace of his daughter..yet he still is blood thirsty enough to execture a werido for napping in his roses. No one is truely innocent of being an asshole in the muppets at times..just like their beloved creator. Awesome guy on many levels..a bit of a sleezeball though when it came to relationaships and emotional manipualtuon of women..also, this came out after his death (the vhs at least) since it advertises the muppet christmas carol.
Midas had to wish for world peace since he isnt making valud efforts to instil it throygh his monarchy..Mr. I'll kill you for defiling my roses..has a lot in common woth the beauty beast he does..
Don't you love that its the ship starting all the crazy bandwagons that the sheppard and othe rpeople ultimatly follow? This whole special is just one role reversal commentary on society after another.wait..attack of the trees? Shamalan saw this special..
Love how both times Kermit is a king, he is more sympathetic than the origional and its a character that didn't previously exist that kicks things off to happen the way the story does.
I don't remember seeing this as a kid but the first story reminded me of Faerie tale theatre with Shelly Duvall. Not sure if you've seen any of those but I grew up on them and the 3 little pigs was my most watched. 🤣

I didn't discover this film until I was a teenager and I still enjoy it. Also I agree that the wolf muppet is pretty cool looking and I hope they re-purpose the puppet someday for a different project or character.
Yes! He's definitely one of the most underrated muppets in the collection.
@@AveryTalksAboutStuff Apparently the writers and cast have said that this was one of the most Muppet experiences since the deaths of Jim Henson and Richard Hunt( who performed Scooter for a long time, hence his absence). BTW the wolf was performed by the since deceased Jerry Nelson.

I would love a crossover between the Muppets and the Ferals with them interact, Rattus is the leader of the bunch, Modigliana, she's fluffy, but she's tough, Derryn he's a dopey dog and Mixy, she's a muddled, mixed up bunny or rabbit, that is almost word for word of the theme song lol. Of course the Ferals will have less violent compared to the original show because my god.

I always thought the reason Rumpelstiltskin wanted the woman's baby was because he wanted to eat it. At least, that's the reason I picked when I had to form a script of the fairy tale for a Children's Theater class I had in college

I had this movie. I’m surprised no one talks about it. The fact that I never heard about it anywhere else made me think I confused it for something else.
This is still one of my favorite henson projects so I wish more people talked about it.
I had Kermit unpigged!!!!! Born to be wild as performed by Miss. Piggy and Ozzy Osborne. THE BEST
i think a lot of the ABC Australia shows, some Jonathan M. Shiff Productions tv shows from my playlists you can watch by other means like Netflix for example or other sources, Streaming services, YT or you know look them up on the synopsis/main plot. Dot and the Kangaroo movie and it's 8 movie sequels all of which i never watched, all of them were way before my time, the book itself is 122 years old also look up the Bunyip, don't worry you're understand why when you watch the first Dot movie). The thing about the Blinky Bill tv show, S1 is controversial from the forest industry because of a scene in the opening where construction is cutting trees, destroying the Greenpatch residents home (this show comes after the 1992 movie) and the lyrics during that and this line in particular which is, "Save us from that woodchip mill." Senator Mcgaurin wasn't happy with the company, he was like, "change the lyrics and get rid of the scene or cancel the show," (videos of that exist on YT) in the end the show continued on for S2, the woodchip mill scene completely gone (you can tell by Blinky Bill coming close up on screen, slightly change to the next scene easy to see if you slow it down, dif animation and scenery) and change the lyrics to, "You'll never catch him standing still," (at least for S2 and like early eps of S3 before changing it for the main plot) and have every season with a subtitle, so S1 was just called The Adventures of Blinky Bill or just Blinky Bill to keep it simple, S2's subtitle was called Blinky Bill's Extraordinary Excursion and S3 was called Blinky Bill's Extraordinary Balloon Adventure. again S1 was 1993, S2 was in 1995 and S3 wasn't a thing until 2004, which by that point has more than 2 VAs and ended off with Blinky Bill's White Christmas and wasn't until 2015 when the series came back with a new movie and tv show the year later both dif canon to the original series, which by now Yoram Gross sadly died 4 days after the movie came out
I’m very happy you decided to review this gem. Something else that should be noted: The Muppets only made one more direct-to-video feature after this, Kermit’s Swamp Years, in 2002. Certainly much less prolific direct-to-video output from them than Disney in general. I’m also kind of curious if you’ve ever watched the Tales from Muppetland specials from the 70s or Emmett Otter’s Jugband Christmas. I think those shows don’t get as much love as they should

@@AveryTalksAboutStuff I never watched Swamp Years myself, but from what I have previously read about it, it was not one of their better releases. Two of the Muppetland specials, The Frog Prince and Hey Cinderella, were released on VHS in '93 but the third, The Muppet Musicians of Bremen, has never seen an official home video release as far as I know. All three of them should on RUclips in some form.
Update - Muppet Musicians of Bremen was released only once on VHS in 1983, and released around the same time on video in Sweden and Australia but hasn’t been released on any home media since then

Tracey McBean playlist is done, but sadly most of S2 couldn't find, I do remember some of the plots of those EPs, so once again it's in the vault of the shows mostly incomplete and Saddle Club YT channel got terminated so those playlists are of no use, well at least S1 & S2 are on Dailymotion which I have the links to, rip S3 and like the other 25 EPs from that Season unless it's the DVD same with the tv show Stormworld which also had suffered the same fate as well and apart from web series from both Australia and New Zealand and NZ's own kids tv shows, that which is small and also couldn't find that many. I haven't gotten to search other kids tv shows from some countries at least familiar or heard of because Australia did had some or not because i'm interested or curious of shows or games (i'm not much of a PC gamer, tho some of my friends are). i'm kind of speeding along with The Lost Islands, Hardball S2 on ABC Me/iview and Silver Brumby, tho that scene of a boar biting a Brumby's neck and some blood came out was nasty, kids tv shows back can pretty intense and messed up. ok i have a feeling Blinky Bill is next with the playlist i made, mostly likely the movie and tv show way later, the original Skippy and the cartoon even more later down the road

imho i think Tabaluga is one of Yoram Gross/Flying Bark Productions tv shows that i believe to be underrated of the 90s, next to Deadly in the 2000s which is good and Legend of Enyo in 2010s which as of now i haven't seen yet, although i never have seen the first musical and later ones, the concept and studio albums, the game show, novel, audio or the 2018 movie as much, which in English they lazily renamed it to Ice Princess Lily (Lilli is her German name), the tv show is more popular internationally, the musicals are more known in Germany and pretty much everything else in there. i personally think S1, S2, Tabaluga and Leo and S3 is my prefer timeline of the tv show, but there are some people say that Tabaluga and Leo take place during S3, which i can also sort of agree on (makes no sense after S3 because well i'm going to spoil it for you, not to the mention the dif continuity between each source with almost the same characters. it is also interesting how the trailer was hand painted cels, yet the show when released was digital ink and paint, looked a bit jank early, but later the artstyle and animation improved in each season and not mentioning the voice acting which yes in the English Dub very Australian accents and like the former, it starts a bit stiff and also got better as it went on.

Who doesn't know and enjoyed the Muppets? A lot of people do. Also dang quite a lot of Australian tv shows that used puppets that I randomly check from the wiki, Lift Off being of course, I don't know about reaction to EC aka Every Child Ragdoll will be like easily one of the creepiest things, aside from The Book Place or Mulligrubs intro and I don't think Mr. Squiggle wasn't not scary, sorta cute (oh god that face in Mulligrubs) here's the link on Wiki that has the other shows, some I'm familiar and some not so much en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Australian_television_shows_featuring_puppetry
So after the Worst Witch, The series got a tv show in the 90s, which spawn 2 spinoffs, Weirdsister College, The New Worst Witch and the Worst Witch tv show in 2017. Yeah British/UK kids shows were pretty awesome as well as Canada, among other countries. You know I forgot some of these had puppets in them aside from people wearing the costumes like the original Bananas in Pyjamas, oh yeah Farscape another show I've heard, but never did watch, Hi-5, Johnson & Friends, Magic Mountain (China and Australia did this one), Me & My Monsters (UK & Australia did this with Jim Henson like monsters as they were shown in the intro. Tugs tv show tho yeah needs more people to see lol among many more obscure shows like Tabaluga, I know Germany people loves, but outside of that not too many. Jeopardy sci fi show oh yeah so good, even if shares the same name as the game show which that is a trend that is still a thing when stuff shares the same thing or concept.
Oh everyone loves the muppets but this movie specifically isn't talked about very much 😊

I dunno it just feels wrong to have a "Muppets" production that doesn't feature Statler and Walford relentlessly heckling the Muppets.

speaking of obscure, type in kangaroocreekgang.com to one of the most obscure Australian kids cartoons imo and from the early 2000s, people who are Australian, even my friends don't know much at all about Kangaroo Creek Gang period. if you're wondering why i didn't see much of this or at all, well Yoram Gross/Flying Bark cartoons, (Blinky Bill, Flipper, Tabaluga, Old Tom, FTPD, maybe Skippy), Li'l Elvis Jones & The Truckstoppers, Tracey McBean prior. also listen to S1, S2, S3 part 1 and part 2 intros of Blinky Bill, i guarantee the theme song with slightly dif lyrics or shorter theme song will be catchy, memorable and fun to hear, while being stuck in your head for a good while.

@@AveryTalksAboutStuff which speaking of, have you seen the playlist i made for the Blinky Bill 90s series? i put in all the eps, movies in the correct order, including each of the 4 theme songs, the movie and tv OST, didn't include other things like the video games, commercial, behind the scenes, among a lot of stuff and i think is the next best thing after Skippy (well one of them) and Round the Twist videos did pretty well.
