- A few times a year a group of landscape painters go bush to work "plein air", or in the open air. They are following in the footsteps of some of the nation's famous artists. Landline's Sean Murphy filed this report in 2013.

I wish abc would do more art/painting videos.
Great work. I really admire those that can draw and paint. Keep the magic alive.
Plein air is a 360° sense stimulation, whilst chasing light & shadow...
(And avoiding flies, bugs leeches, snakes, spiders etc).
The sheer joy of witnessing moments in time, skies, plants, animals...dealing with paint, canvas & weather!
When a painting works, your heart sighs...
When an artlover buys it the heart sings...
There are many women & men who work together in Sthn Highlands, NSW.
If you're looking for a group, ask at your local gallery.
Great stuff!

Well done expose. The light and colors in Australia is special indeed.

There is a lot of room in the world for many kinds of art- pick your favorite.
Interesting film. I can’t help noticing that there appear to be no women in the group.
Starving artist we will always be
Water mixable oils are wonderful and don’t need turpentine.
I can't take oils or terps, so I chose water based oils, they work wonders and are non-toxic and clean up great.
U don't need terps, you could use Zest-it or other alternatives. Oils don't cause anything if you handle it normally. I've used water mixable but it's just not as good to me as regular oils.
There is water mixable oil paints from Windsor and newton and royal talens paint companies which need only water no turps needed
How’s that Tom & Jerry situation you blokes are having
The painter who developed an allergy to Turpentine could perhaps try Water mixable oils - no solvent needed at all. I use them and they're really good - just like traditional oils but you clean your brushes etc with water and use linseed oil as a medium.
So that one guy that’s allergic should switch to the Geneva paint or artisan oil paint it cleans up with water . With Geneva paint you don’t clean your brushes and you dip them in oil they’re always in oil there’s no reason to clean your brushes
There are ways to do oils without solvents these days. Gamblin solvent free medium, Terpenoid natural, neither have those pesky hydrocarbons that cause allergies.
