UPROXX Video - Did not know that, but I am not surprised. You are a very good interviewer and your content is great. Keep up the good work, my dude!!! 👍🏿
Y’all touching on the fact that you make music just to make dope music without the thought of pandering to a certain demographic is so true & much needed. I’m a white man & I love Eve even though it’s so much about black women. Keep doing your thing Rap, I’ve been a huge fan for a long time & Eve is a phenomenal album. Salute. 🙏🏼💯
Rapsody in the last three years, is easily in my Top 5 Current Emcees! Talib Kweli is in my Top 20 of all time! Period. This interview is long overdue and right on time! Thank you for this.
Amazing interview for the culture. Rapsody a genius and a true student of the game. Great to see her shine and made dope concept albums like Laila's Wisdom and Eve to push the culture forward.
Royce aint slept on he's simply UNDERRATED. Folks know, its just that ain't putting the hype behind it! As opposed to the lovely miss Rhapsody!! It's her fluxuated attempt at keeping it emcee and being a black lyricist and her not being one to flaunt her sexuality. In aworld of extremes and sexism she will be placed into that UNDERRATED category only due to the negative standards geered toward those thhat they want to control and marginalize. A "challenge" that she and the great "Royce the Nickel" are ready for by far!!
This conversation was food for the soul! It has left me full, ready for a nap, but ready for round 2 at the same time, if it makes sense. Loved everything about that meeting of the minds between Talib Kweli, Jasmin Leigh and Rapsody. I have been fortunate enough to see Rapsody in concert twice in the past 6 months and got to talk to her both times. We hugged like long-lost sisters even though we were strangers. The first time, I thanked her for making this latest album, for Black women like me, and for seeing us and celebrating us the way she does. And to touch on what Talib said about Black men, one of my favorite parts of both shows was when she brought a Black man on stage to sing to him and let the brothas know how much they are loved and appreciated. The second time, I told her how much I appreciated the fact that she stayed the course, followed her path and stayed true to herself no matter what the outside world said a female rapper should look or sound like. There is room for everyone and the way I love Rapsody's music and the way it makes me feel, I know a lot of people who can say the same about Cardi B, and people who want and need both. That's what music (and life) is about. Not everything is for you or about you. Enjoy what you love and what moves you and allow others to do the same even if you don't like what they like. I am glad this platform exists and we can give people their flowers while they can smell them. Talib Kweli and Rapsody, you are loved!
This interview is so spectacular for many reasons; for example, hearing two people who can articulate without pausing is great. So many jewels 💎. Jasmine it is definitely wonderful watching and hearing your voice.
jKHAHN215PA Lol men always have to comment on a woman’s beauty even when it has NOTHING to do with the topic. It’s like a woman’s level of attraction matters as to whether she is more palatable to men in her craft. If Rapsody had 3 eyes she’d be dope. Not coming at you particularly king, just always notice this type of stuff.

The Peoples Party is hands down the best RUclips page on and about contemporary, and past, black culture. HANDS. DOWN!! This interview exposed me to Rapsody for the first time yesterday. I love her swag and energy. I then bought her album "Laila's Wisdom" and my head damn near exploded from the beauty and power of that album. I bought her album "Eve" today. Thank you Talib for creating this platform and thank you Jasmin for being a great co-anchor. You all should consider making merch. I would most definitely buy a couple of items.
GREAT SHOW!!! Not to Box or label this young Lady in, but she reminds me of a young, SISTER SOLDIER. Props to Brother Talib Kweli & People's Party. Once again, ahead of his time, continually making Hip Hop Evolve. Intelligent, Strong, Positive, Energy. I LOVE THIS TYPE OF "UNITY."
Talib is incredible. It's very easy to pick up that this is an interviewer who lives, breathes and understands hip hop as a culture. I left the interview feelling like I understand what Rapsody is about.
I’m SO GLAD Dream Hampton gave you that piece of advice. We like hip hop for the same reasons y’all do! Talib you have always been one of my FAVORITE emcees. And TBH, Rapsody is one of the few newer rappers I listen to. Love this interview ❤️❤️❤️
Next up, I would like to see either of these artists or Executives: MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Pharaoh Monch, Immortal Technique, De La Sol, Common, DJ Premier, DJ Qbert, DJ Funk Flex, DJ Hitek, ScarFace, Uncle Luke, Rza, Angie Martinez, etc. 😂 I can go on for days
I just got put on to the People's Party and been binge watching. Talib is a dope ass interviewer, the questions and engagement with each guest is unique, intimate, and enlightening. To this episode in particular, Rapsody is amazing. I just got put onto her from the Meth interview. She's super lyrical and smart and loved learning about her. Thank you for doing these interviews.
Talib.... she need to spend some time with Bahamadia!!! I think they’ll make a splash... just a record and salute to Rapsody on the colab with GZA. Truly liquid in my mind!!! Peace!!!
As a resident (born and raised) of NC, I see her as one one the best representations of the culture of this generation... Just Dope!!! Now let's get that Talib Rapsody song!!
Her EVE album is a classic. Every song is hitting. I'm gonna rep you Rapsody. We gotta support our sisters. We gotta support each other. Stand up in 2020!!
Almost forgot to comment on this, loved this episode. I'm always to fill in my gaps of hip-hop history and I'm sorely lacking in women MCs to listen to, Rapsody helped point me in the right direction here!
Truly love this Queen. Rapsody is a God send to Hip-Hop, what REAL HIP-HOP needs. Humble, but strong, no nonsense, no gimmicks, no lout chasing, just pure realism. All hail the (other) Queen of Hip-Hop!
Love the rapsody interview, but when talib announced the black starr album again i got overwhelmed. I still bang the first album at work til this day. Let a brotha know when the tape, compact disk, record and download comes out. K.O.S.(knowledge of self).
Another great episode. Rapsody is so authentic and Eve is a superb album. I dont follow award shows much and Eve not being nominated for a Grammy is a prime example why!
@Melissa Unicorn very true indeed. I would just loved Eve to get that recognition it deserved and as a result a spike in sales. It's a feminist album thats inclusive to men and shows that equality is not something to be feared but embraced. More folks should hear it.
From what I've heard, Cardi was supposed to be on "Whoopi" off of Rap's last album, she would've fit the vibe of the beat pretty well imo. Khrysis also did an incredible job flipping that Herbie Hancock sample.
Rapsody is such a dope MC I’ve been following her since Dream Merchant 2 I’m happy more people are seeing how talented this sister is. She’s not Dope female MC. She is simply a dope MC period. Dope interview catching up on People’s Party episodes. Salute Kweli and Jasmin Leigh.
I'm such a big fan of hers if she ever comes to Miami I'm going to that concert. She is a top 5 lyrics today & she should do a song with Nas atleast 3 of em!
Eve blew my fucking mind! I sent a link to my friend back east who plays in a rock band but fucks with hip hop. He gave it 5 mics and copped the album. She is a beast!
In this day and time Rapsody is a rare gem that I feel we should appreciate while we can. She is the breath of fresh air in the game that is needed when it comes to women in HipHop culture.
