    This is a 12 gallon long that is 35x8.25x9.5. It's a really cool tank and I think the aquascape turned out really well. Hope you enjoy the video!

    Love the gift rocks! One of my gifts was money which turned into a tank within 24 hours. My best gift was a large quilt which the top had mostly been done by my grandmother who died many years ago. My cousin completed it and gave it to me. Amazing!

    I bought a 12 gallon long with my Christmas cash. I used the dry start method for Monte Carlo, added some tall plants in the background and finally added chili rasboras and celestial pearl danios. I plan on adding blue velvet shrimp soon!

    I began fish keeping in November 2022. If you can believe it, I have gone through nine different tanks in that time. I only have one aquarium going. Then I stumbled upon this one on Amazon. I am in love with it. Yes, it's only 12 gallons but it has so much more room for my fish. It sits on the bar counter in my kitchen and looks fabulous. I had a Fluval flex 15 gallon before and I'm convinced my fish are way more happy in this tank. I was really excited to see you showcasing it it on your channel. 😊

    The 12 gallon “shelf” aquarium is dope.I’ve always thought of it as the perfect betta aquarium because it’s shorter so they can reach the surface easier, but it’s bigger like a 10 gallon.

    I've been eye hustling this tank at my LFS for a while now for my wife's kitchen counter. Love it, a mini river tank. Maybe some Gobys and Hillstream loachs. Gotta do it now I can justify it as a late Christmas present. We got ourselves a big dehumidifier to help with the aqua-lung thing due to 13 aquariums in a small bedroom apartment. Great video. Thanks and Happy and prosperous New year's.

    I got my wife Jane a Fluval 5 gallon Spec nano tank setup for Christmas. We worked on the aquascape together, using dragon stone and driftwood that I included with the gift. She made all of the final arrangement decisions, though. Substrate was Caribsea eco complete. We got some dwarf sag, crytocoryne wendtti and narrow leaf amazon chain swords for plants. We bought 3 golden white cloud minnows so far, and are going to add a couple of endlers and cherry shrimp. It sits on the break between our kitchen and family room, and she can watch it from both sides.

    Looks lovely, Joanna! I've seen that tank scaped a couple of ways, it's a really intriguing footprint, lends itself to new takes on the nano scape/stocking. Love those fossil rocks you got for Christmas, definitely worth redesigning to feature them! While I didn't get anything fishy-related for Christmas, I did _give_ my Dad a Fluval Flex 9, aquascaped it while the turkey cooked, and stocked it with some of our home-bred guppies :) My dad is the one who got me into the hobby as a kid; he got his original tank used 50 years ago, where he kept neons and guppies and other tropicals. That same tank held my first goldfish, and then last year we set it up with guppies for my younger son. That sparked a deep dive into the hobby for me, and an exploration of aquascaping. Seeing that, Dad expressed interest in getting back into the hobby, so it was wonderful to bring it back full circle with this gift! :D

    Hey. Awesome video =D. What’s these rocks name? And where I can find them online? I’m building a pond tank and those rocks would be great for that. Thank youuuuuuuu.

    I think another thing that’s important along with your easy aqua skipping decisions, I live out in the middle of nowhere in Tennessee, I can’t get a lot of plants that I see and there are also naming problems, different places call the same plant different names and you can go in with the scientific name and they have no idea what you’re talking about if you’re speaking Latin or whatever or if he is a common name they may not know what you’re talking about because they call it something else and it’s very hard to get landscaping supplies out here. I am not a Petco or Petsmart person but that’s all I have and that an hour and 10 minutes away, I’ve got to go to hours before I get to another decent pet store and you can order some online but I like to pick out specific rocks and wood and when you order online you never really know what you’re going to get and most of the time to be honest you end up getting the leftover junk that nobody wants. Online is gotten a lot better with places like aquarium co-op but you’re still not able to go and look for yourself you’re pretty much just hoping you get something you like.
    I like what you said about the filters also, I would definitely get one of the Small canisters with a heater already in it so you didn’t have to put much in the tank itself.

    I got some shrimp supplies for Christmas. Going to set up a 40 gallon breeder for neos, probably blue dreams or bloody mary's haven't decided yet. I now have everything except the tank, stand, hardscape and plants. Going to start cycling it with snails in the next few days.

    Hi! I am working on a new project and i will paint the back of my tank black and i have a wonderful piece of wood i acquired. I am debating on super blond/white sand like yours or black sand. ??? hard to choose. I was afraid that black sand + black back would look weird. What do you think?

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  4 года назад +1

      Most of our tanks are black on black, but it really depends on what you want to put in it. If it's a fish with bright colors that won't muddy up, black can be a great background.

    Please tell me where you found this tank. I’ve been searching for a 30 inch long bookshelf aquarium! And how do crypts grow in sand... are you adding root tabs?

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  3 года назад

      We do add root tabs to all our tanks with root-feeding plants. You can still find this tank on amazon from time to time - 12 gallon long, which is the 36" version. It gets really expensive though.

    So I’m new to this hobby. And I haven’t set up my tank at all yet. I do want sand bottom and need help with that. Debating on color white or black if there’s options. I want colorful fishes that get along and a plant tank. My tank is 30 gal. Do you know when can I put fishes in my tank? Can I do it asap when I get my tank set up?

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  4 года назад

      All great questions - usually it takes a few weeks for the process of nitrification to occur after adding water. Definitely check out the nitrogen cycle video we did and we also have a ton of videos in the beginner series too. I personally like darker substrate in most of my tanks because most fish show better color on it. There are many exceptions, but for most common tropical fish - darker seems to look better.

    Nice video. I have the exact same tank that I haven't set up yet. For filtration, I am thinking of using an aquaclear powerhead with a large sponge on the intake, this way I have both filtration and surface circulation for such a long tank.

    I actually have 4 odd ball shaped tanks I got from someone locally that made them. They are 10g tanks with dimensions of 36"L x 8"D x 8"T. I haven't set them up yet. Those 4 tanks are my special projects I plan to get set up early in 2020. First though I have to either buy or build a stand for my 40 breeder I got for free as I want to house my group of red top hongi in it. I'm torn on whether I should just build a double stand myself or buy one of those metal stand from Lowe's that fits 40 breeder dimensions. My plan for oddball 10g tanks are a themed zen garden tank possibly housing a betta or shrimp; not sure which right now. A bamboo garden tank. One will be a Iwagumi aquascaped tank. A the fourth one I haven't decided yet what that scape will be.
