What gentlemen you are! That gearbox would possibly pass a brief test drive for a private sale, from cold, but again, you will do the right thing and get the car spot-on. You are proving that you don't have to be a shark to make a living in the motor trade. You deserve your well-earned successes.
That's it mate, just about everyone else would flip this motor and let the punter soak up the cost on a cheap car. I know Chris and Rob are in a positon where any corner cutting or dodgy dealing is outed but I don't believe for one second they would sell something on that they wouldn't keep or pass to a family member., even if it wasn't all on RUclips.
Best UK based channel on RUclips by miles, no one can fault the quality of repair work Chris does, great stuff lads. Shame about the box, hopefully you can still make a few quid and give someone a cheap run around.
That’s why I keep watching you guys. Not only do you do a great job and entertain us. But you are just so honest and straightforward- absolutely a credit to the motor trade. Thanks and keep up the great work.
You guys are really giving another chance to these damaged cars to be on road and save environment infact recycling these salvageable cars is not environmentally friendly.your work is helping many sides of world helping lower class people to own something honestly repaired and helping global resources.cheers guys keep up the good work.
You guys are the ultimate recyclers! You're gonna bring that shed of a DS back from the brink and you even re-used the box the Beemer rear quarter came in to lay underneath the front of the car while you sorted the engine. Luvvitt!
These two are the most honest car salesmen in this country im sure. As people have eluded to in the comments, a test drive would probably not even pick up on the gearbox but becuase you are decent and honest you'll fix it.
NO PROBLEMS ... ONLY SOLUTIONS... you immediately sorted out the problem about the gearbox ..good bit of re cycling too .. such a lovely channel guys .. you both foil soo well together .. really enjoy your input
Right that is the engine sorted. To be fair you could not have known about the gearbox until you gave it a shake down Rob. Fingers crossed that gearbox you have will fit, let's hope so. A good interesting video once again. Thanks Rob and Chris, I am sure there will be enough left in it for you both.👍👍
It's a shame the gear box went but it's good that it went while in your hands because we know it's going to be fully sorted by the time you sell it £400 isn't a bad price should see a good little profit out of this one & will be smelling Fresh 😌 great content as always 👍👍👍
Evening guys. You’ve done it again sorting out the engine and made it look smart 😊 But your honesty has paid off again making you the best on RUclips 👏🏻
Better for the gearbox issue to have reared it's head now rather than 100 miles after selling it because now you and the prospective buyer have saved money, them on travel costs and yourselves on recovery of it to fix it. It certainly wouldn't have dented your reputations though because you two are so much trusted within the SR community.
Semi Congratulations on getting the DS3 up & running. What a pity that the gearbox is Kerput. I look forward to seeing the next episode of Salvage Rebuilds.
Excellent turnaround in recovering a car that deserves to be on the road to a better car owner . Pleased you discovered the faulty gearbox early. Looking forward to the next video replacing the parts as well as the important number crunching 😀😀
Yet another peachy video.. love the way Rob gets so excited when it runs, no matter what the thing is... Rob you've got to be confident, Chris the master craftsman is at the spanners 🔧 ..😂😂
Shame about the gearbox, but as you say that poor little car has had an extremely hard life up until now. How anybody could drive in a car filled with so much filth and rubbish is beyond me! Just like to add too that the full length video of the timing chain replacement was much appreciated; I enjoyed that very much. As you say Josh is a very skilled mechanic.
Hope you dont forget the Duel Mass flywheel swap as well when you do the clutch. You may find it's that that's breaking down when you release the clutch pedal. Great car though boys!!😎👍
You make everything look so easy, and no shortcuts taken. Bad luck with the gearbox, but at least you have one in stock. It will make a nice well sorted car for someone 👍😎
Nice little diesel for economy and cheap road tax, it’s a shame about the gearbox but I am sure the Berlingo box will fit ok and then you will make a good wage out of a fully sorted motor. Thanks for another great video Rob & Chris Tom
Still a profit in this little motor my opinion one of the best small diesel engine made, and to hear it fire up first key proving my point 👏👏 great work despite the gearbox issue
A good source of scrap cardboard to lay on whilst working underneath a car , especially at this time of year is Halfords ( new bikes being bought for Xmas ) just ask if you can take the old packaging boxes .
It may not be the gearbox. If it has a dual mass flywheel the chances are that will be away. They normally rattle more hot than cold worth a check. But you have the low milage box so no point second guessing. Great to see it up & running.
Hello Rob and Chris, the Citroen DS3 starts well, the gearbox is bit of a pain that it needs a new one, maybe cleaning the engine has made it sound a bit rough, the interior looks alot better now.
so close to finished, but you guys have done so many gearboxes it wont take you long, at least its now a runner!! cant wait to see the new office , thanks for the content guys 👍
every time i see a car in that state, i just imagine what their houses look like.... fingers crossed that box fits sounds like the lower g/box mount is shot as well keep up the excellent work chaps
Great to watch a real bit of auto engineering. Well done lads. Also I now know why you are always buying cups of coffee. You use the cups to soak the followers in in oil!! Really enjoy your programme, it's a proper mix of great engineering delivered in a light hearted way.
Good evening Rob and Chris, car coming on well , shame about the gearbox , but you will get it sorted. Thanks for taking the time to upload another video. Ged
Sooo much respect for the real world content. The commitment to honest trading is really affirming - thank you for being honest car guys. My fave you tube channel without doubt. 🤝
Hi, guys been watching for a while but cannot get over how you get on with things top content. I'm disabled and have my eye on the Discovery Sport so can't wait till you finish and crunch the numbers A1 guys A1.
Another one saved. Glad that video with smell wasn't invented yet lol. The gear box was a boomer but well. The new office will be nice, with the RUclips plaque in the back and a nice sofa to crunch the numbers hehe
I CANNOT believe how much of a BARGAIN that car is. Boys, you need to go top dollar with this one, it's going to be a belter is this one...!!! Fantastic work as usual fellas, thanks for keeping us entertained..!!
Great video guys, as always brilliant attention to detail. Nice that you can put that car back on the road as it has so much life left in it and a real shame people abuse cars like that but someone will benefit from a well sorted car now.
I hope that the Berlingo gearbox sorts out the latest problem, that way all you will need is a clutch kit and a lot of labour. The engine sounds great despite the abuse it has suffered previously. Some people just don’t look after their cars.
Does it have gearbox oil. Probably too late. Cleaned up really well so still a decent margin. Check the first motion shaft as some dont engage in the crank . Not sure what year it changed.
Fantastic video guys.Excellent mechanical mend too.A real pity about the burst gearbox. This car has definitely been hammered to death by previous owners. Its good that you have a spare gearbox for it in the yard with very low miles.
Nice one lads. It didn't turn more that 90 degrees before it fired up, that's probably the quickest start I've ever seen, diesel or petrol. It's a pity about the box but what's the book price on it? I'd think at least three grand and you would get a well sorted motor that if looked after would last you ten years or more. Ask a decent price because you deserve to make a good whack on it considering all the work you have done.
The carpet wear was a warranty item, loads of fellow ADI’s had it replaced by Citroen. Poor thing has had a hard life, although I taught in a C4 Coupe VTR and that racked up 275,000 miles, so Citroen’s can do some big miles.
What you said, that poor little car was abused. Engine and gearbox rotten, interior like a Dutch coffeeshop (I can say, I'm Dutch 🙃), but at a given point you just may have to stop with a project like this. Still, fun to watch you guys bringing this high spec DS3 back to life.
I have been really looking forward to this video. I really felt sorry for this little car, it's had a very hard life. I was made up it fired up first go, it sounds lovely, and cleaned up nice too. Shame about the gearbox but at least it's happened now. At £400, I feel you'll make a good profit. Try an Aircon cleaner in the car, it might help get rid of the smell. Looking forward to the next instalment.Great work. 👍
Mint video 📹 again fellas 👌 nice to see Chris has not lost his touch with finding the lose change 👍 .pity about the gearbox and clutch but I am sure you will make a decent 😉 drink out of it honest as the day is long fellas take care and stay lucky and healthy 👍 looking forward to Wednesday's video 📹 😀 already.
Hello Rob & Chris, another enjoyable video, and I wish that the crew which clean your cars out were here where I live, for they do such a good job, and it's not that exspensive from what you say you have paid!! When the gearbox & clutch is done, this will be a great car for someone, and I hope that you will be asking a price that gives you some profit too!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire.
Lovely to see you taking so much care with every car you repair just a question on the servicing do you allways go through the brakes as fixed price servicing often leaves this out until a silly mileage I am sure you wouldn't do that either many thanks for another car saved and an entertaining video
When I bought my car it had been owned by a cigar smoker, the garage had disguised the smell very well but about a week into owning the car it smelt like a tobacco factory. I scrubbed the interior to within an inch of its life and bought 6 gel odour eaters from Poundland and left them, one after another, in the centre console. Within a month it was clear.
Well that has turned out to be a lovely car, its a shame about the clutch or gearbox but that no problem for you, I love your saying wang it over and its got two chances, keep up the great work.
It may not have been in good condition when you got it, but you've worked your magic as per usual, going to be a good little car when the gearbox and clutch have been done and glad to hear your're going to ask a little bit more this time!
No sooner do you finish saying you don't even want to talk about illegal substances in case RUclips gets the hump then Chris goes "I got a pot here".
Thought tge exact same thing 😅
What gentlemen you are!
That gearbox would possibly pass a brief test drive for a private sale, from cold, but again, you will do the right thing and get the car spot-on.
You are proving that you don't have to be a shark to make a living in the motor trade.

It takes a lifetime to build up a reputation as an honest car dealer though and that's worth way more than a gearbox and clutch.
Best UK based channel on RUclips by miles, no one can fault the quality of repair work Chris does, great stuff lads.
Shame about the box, hopefully you can still make a few quid and give someone a cheap run around.
Jim I'd go as far as global for me, vice grip is very very good as well, so is Dylan
@@1666matt I love Derek and the family at VGG , my favourite channel of all.
That’s why I keep watching you guys. Not only do you do a great job and entertain us. But you are just so honest and straightforward- absolutely a credit to the motor trade. Thanks and keep up the great work.

"It's got two chances" was one of my Mum's favourite sayings when you were uncertain whether to try something or not. God bless her.
That poor thing has been absolutely hammered! Well done for rescuing it!
You guys are the ultimate recyclers! You're gonna bring that shed of a DS back from the brink and you even re-used the box the Beemer rear quarter came in to lay underneath the front of the car while you sorted the engine. Luvvitt!
It's always so nice to see you guys working in perfect harmony. Hopefully the van gearbox isn't lower geared. Great vid.
And yet again every reason why this is simply one of the best channels on RUclips. Keep up the good work.
Right that is the engine sorted. To be fair you could not have known about the gearbox until you gave it a shake down Rob. Fingers crossed that gearbox you have will fit, let's hope so. Good idea about the Berlingo gearbox, but I think it's a lot lower geared than the DS3.
Evening guys. You’ve done it again sorting out the engine and made it look smart 😊 But your honesty has paid off again making you the best on RUclips 👏🏻
You guys deserve all the respect, many traders would dump that car, that's not how you work, kudos to you both.
Better for the gearbox issue to have reared it's head now rather than 100 miles after selling it because now you and the prospective buyer have saved money, them on travel costs and yourselves on recovery of it to fix it. These videos are so satisfying even though we are just watching them and not doing the work.
With the projector screen I reckon Chris should do a 'movie night' with all of the videos off his channel. 😀

You make everything look so easy, and no shortcuts taken. Bad luck with the gearbox, but at least you have one in stock. It will make a nice well sorted car for someone 👍😎
I had a petrol one of these DS3's from brand new in 2012, they're nice cars. Only downside was the large doors in carparks.
A pity about the gearbox, are the ratio's the same? Well done guys with the engine. Cheers..
Tuff luck with this one, and someone will get a very good motor, well done you two. 👍👍👍👍👍
Nice little diesel for economy and cheap road tax, it’s a shame about the gearbox but I am sure the Berlingo box will fit ok and then you will make a good wage out of a fully sorted motor. Thanks for another great video Rob & Chris Tom

That’s going to be a cracking first car for someone, cambelt, service, clutch etc etc. plus it’s a good spec with the leather
Hello Rob and Chris, the Citroen DS3 starts well, the gearbox is bit of a pain that it needs a new one, maybe cleaning the engine has made it sound a bit rough, the interior looks alot better now.
That little car has had a very hard life. I think you guys were just in time to save her. Great video.
so close to finished, but you guys have done so many gearboxes it wont take you long, at least its now a runner!! cant wait to see the new office , thanks for the content guys 👍
Nice little runner when it's fixed up with a new gearbox and clutch as well. 😀
When you get the log book sell the number plate separately to cover the cost of the gearbox & clutch kit.
every time i see a car in that state, i just imagine what their houses look like....
fingers crossed that box fits
sounds like the lower g/box mount is shot as well
keep up the excellent work chaps
you both will get the car spot-on, there's no way you would let it go the way it is, we all know that.
One careful owner, and one not so careful. Penelope Pitstop with Ben Hur as the backup driver. Great job again lads, but that car's had a hard life.
Great to watch a real bit of auto engineering. Well done lads. Also I now know why you are always buying cups of coffee. You use the cups to soak the followers in in oil!! Really enjoy your programme, it's a proper mix of great engineering delivered in a light hearted way.

Excellent video, you guys going that extra mile on this one, just proves how genuine you are .Well done.
Great video guys but you could do with a few hazmat suits when cleaning that motor out .
Hi, guys been watching for a while but cannot get over how you get on with things top content.

Great video guys, as always brilliant attention to detail. Nice that you can put that car back on the road as it has so much life left in it and a real shame people abuse cars like that but someone will benefit from a well sorted car now.
The inside was a disgrace, I couldn't drive a car like that, great vids guys.Aussie Graham
I sometimes put foil on the lens if the lens is really flooded, dries them up in 5 mins or so
"I've got a pot here, Rob..."
I think you have!!
🤣🤣🤣
I hope that the Berlingo gearbox sorts out the latest problem, that way all you will need is a clutch kit and a lot of labour. The engine sounds great despite the abuse it has suffered previously. Some people just don’t look after their cars.
Hi Rob and Chris, shame about the gearbox, but is what is, will be a well sorted car once completed and another great buy for someone. Alex.
Hey guys back watching your channel after a break. Should have loads of videos to watch.❤️✌️👊
Nice first car for new driver when finished.👍👍👍
In Canada, when someone says "It's got two chances", it means "Slim or None".
The gearbox was bad luck, just glad there was no more engine damage, hope you turn a profit out of it
Am gutted are well looking forward to gearbox coming out see what's happened
Does it have gearbox oil. Probably too late. Cleaned up really well so still a decent margin. Check the first motion shaft as some dont engage in the crank . Not sure what year it changed.
Fantastic video guys.Excellent mechanical mend too.A real pity about the burst gearbox. This car has definitely been hammered to death by previous owners. Its good that you have a spare gearbox for it in the yard with very low miles.
We use to put a bit of tin foil on the front of the headlight to dry them out quickly. Coming along. Great job guys.
Jon, could you expand on that tip please?
Pull the bungs off and hairdryer in the back till the condensation has cleared, leave the bungs off until the light has cooled then seal up. Job done.
Rob that car is running sweet as a nut and it looks really well. Once the gear box and clutch go in - what a cracking motor.
Attention to detail as normal. The best car channel on RUclips by a mile😀
hope to see video clutch plate and gearbox replacement mate

Great vid - would happily see one of you doing the gearbox as well!
Previously owned by a grow it yerselfer suspension not fitted with lift kit but still high for previous driver perhaps

Great video guys. It's a good job that you noticed it before you sold it. Keep them coming.
You could plant things in that carpet ! but what a result with the clean up, shame about the gearbox, you guys are perfectionists though well done.
Needs a valeter with a cast iron constitution, lol. great job guys!
Someone did'nt deserve this motor,, great video lads 👍👍
Coming along very nicely. Well done. No probs waiting for the gearbox and clutch to go in.
They do bite, some of them. Still will be a lovely car for somebody when finished.
Check the ratio,s on the both gear boxes,I have been caught out before and ended up with a car with low down grunt and no top end
That came together so nicely and then, what a bummer. Sounds like you have a plan for the next stage of repairs.
Great video Rob and Chris perfect job guys
That cars going to be perfect once gearbox is sorted someone is getting such a good deal
Hello Rob & Chris, another enjoyable video, and I wish that the crew which clean your cars out were here where I live, for they do such a good job, and it's not that exspensive from what you say you have paid!! Nice Video Rob and Chris !👍👍👏👏👏
Sounds like the dual mass 👍 great video gotta love a shitroen
Motor sounds sweet for the miles, hopefully that van box is the same!
It'll air out while it stands...
What was the total count of the spare change? 👍

Well done chaps, a frustrating end but a fairly easy gearbox to replace….
Another cracking video. Shame about the box. But better it happened now ! than when it was sold to someone and they come back moaning.
Well that has turned out to be a lovely car, its a shame about the clutch or gearbox but that no problem for you, I love your saying wang it over and its got two chances, keep up the great work.
Wow!the knowledge you both have, is incredible, brilliant to watch and listen 😊
I'd have loved to have given that interior a clean, looked a right challenge :D
Fantastic video as always take that plate off it sell it be good to see how easy or hard that is to do
I wish there was content every day to be honest, can you guys make that happen please.
Brilliant again there fellas. Shame about the gearbox and doing clutch now but it’ll be a great buy for someone for sure
It may not have been in good condition when you got it, but you've worked your magic as per usual, going to be a good little car when the gearbox and clutch have been done and glad to hear your're going to ask a little bit more this time!
