I’ve never written any comments on your videos before, but after watching this one I had to add my thoughts, as your dad and as a fan. As much as I liked your old uncuthashbrown videos, especially “Not Today,” with Dashie, and “The Pound,” with Aaron, Kerry and JJ, this one tops them all. It was more than nostalgic. It was a real travel back in time.
I have to admit that the part about JJ and Kerry brought tears to my eyes, but then bringing in super-dog Latte made me smile. She may be MY Velcro-dog, but she sure loves you to pieces.

I wish my mom was like yours, keeping your stuff.
I specifically told my mom not to throw my gamecube or anything away.
5 months later, when I visited to get my dog. There was zero trace of knowing I lived there, and I literally do mean Zero. My older sister took my room, my little brother took my old room, and they threw away my favorite clothes.
Luckily, before I moved, I took literally every game and game system I owned, besides my gamecube, because I wanted keep it there for a reminder that I was there, because it was much first ever game system. I left a few things there for memories as well. ALL GONE.
Just imagine. 5 months, and it looks like I was never there.

Hey Joey, I'm really glad you started doing RUclips again. You and Dashie making videos was a HUGE chunk of my childhood on RUclips.
I'm going off to college in a month or so and I'm pretty scared that I'll be in a completely new area, away from family, friends, and overall, familiarity. Coming across this video felt like fate and most of these things you've talked about has either happened to me or will happen soon (except for the cord stuff😅). For me its not nostalgia of the room and items that makes me sad. Its the fuck that nostalgia gives me that existential dread of “I’m going to die and mean nothing in the grand scheme of things” and “every human will be gone one day and we mean nothing to the universe”. I also get hit by the “The universe is going to die one day and everything will be remade again. We will have had never existed.”
Time only exists in the present and the present is the past. Time is a false concept. Every millisecond in the present turns i to the past immediately. We *are* living in the future whilst in the present.
this video editing/style reminds me of that yter who stayed in vr for 7 days or something

@@joeyengelman If like an old printer serial cable, i get throwing it out. But if it's like an HDMI or USB or audio cable or something, who knows.
Maybe there should be a website or app or something where people trade cables. Like, Person 1 has an extra VGA and Person 2 has an extra firewire, that they each need; and they mail it to eachother. But I guess you're right tho, because the shipping costs would probably be higher than the cable is even worth.

My parents got divorced but they each kept half of my old schoolwork & projects - and cables. When I moved back from college, they gave it all to me.
We moved around a lot when I was younger, so I don’t have a childhood room BUT those homework assignments and projects do the trick. I have them in my garage now, haha. Can’t part with them! Ah 8th grade science weather report, I must hold on to you.
I’m starting to hold onto my daughters stuff too now. It’s a parent thing. She’s only 4 but I already have a whole binders worth of art saved up from her daycare :)

You get it man. Life means something to you. Wait until your my age, and the most you can do is drive by your old house because both of your parents are now gone. The room, the yard, the neighborhood - all of it will be kind of alien to you, because you've replaced it with your own home, wife and daughter. But, you'll feel it then too.
