"The Devil Went Down to Georgia" was written by Charlie Daniels and featured on the Charlie Daniels Band's 1979 Million Mile Reflections LP. The tune starts out with the very familiar, fast-paced, fiddle-playing music of the traditional square dance common in the Appalachian Mountains. Written in Sprechstimme, which is German for "spoken voice," lead singer Charlie Daniels begins this Faustian tale about a boy named Johnny. Faust, by the way, was a popular 16th Century German scholar who was known to have made a deal with the Devil, exchanging his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly possessions, and the prime subject of a Rembrandt painting.

Back in the day in my adolescence there were rockers who were country too. Like when the northern people sing about NYC or Chicago or someplace they haunt but there were these guys. I loved his song Long Haired Country Boy. That was my song. I say this about every other song btw so ignore things like best song ever because I say that alot, but Long Hair in this white world was such a sin growing up. I am Native and had long hair on principle. There are several of these Country rock bands. Marshall Tucker Band, Lynard Skynard, and Charlie Daniel. To get a feel of Country rock ya gotta listen to Long Haired Country Boy CharlieDaniel, Simple man by Lynard Skynard, Freebird Lynard and Fire on the Mountain by Marshall Tucker. Marshall Tucker Band has some great songs. Heard it in a love song. Can't you see just to mention a couple.

I love your interest in discovering new music and genres! I’m a baby-boomer and love to watch people react to the music of my day. I watch a lot of reactions and always check out your reactions because they’re honest and you always show respect. Keep it going. May I suggest you dig into some Canadian bands of the 80s? I think you’ll like what you hear.

One of my favorites! I met Charlie Daniel's almost 30 years ago while working at a golf club and it was a trip to see this same dude in the video wear a pink polo shirt and plaid golf shorts but he was such a sweetheart!! Also love the Korn shirt! #hog4life

In country music, a violin is called a fiddle! It is used to play country music, not classical!

All the titles called out while Johnny played are classic country and Bluegrass songs. To play them well you have to be a damn good player. You should probably explore country and Bluegrass music some more.
