I've been knitting for 60 years and this is the first time I have seen this kind of cast off and, I must say, I LOVE IT!!! This is the one I will use from now on! I've seen and used about every kind of cast off out there and yours is the BEST. Thank you for your excellent video.
Oh my goodness, thank you Lorraine! That's so unfortunate of the Ravelry account and your patterns, so much hard work you put into it. If you ever set up a new account/website somewhere, I'm happy to spread the word :) Much love, Carmen
Thanks so much for sharing. This is my 46th year of knitting and this the first time I come across this beautiful casting off in rib. With love from Nigeria 😘
I cannot tell you how much your video helped me achieve this bind off! I gave up on it with Lori's own video----you gave so many more tips and details! than she did. I had to make some adjustments for my own manor of knitting (English style) and at first I was fighting the needles. My saving grace was using an Addi circular tip WITHOUT the cable for the extra needle! That way I could move the yarn around the heel of the needle and not fight the extra cable. I've just finished a pair of toe-up, 2@O socks, first time, and they're the best I've ever done! I'm SO PROUD! Thank you! Norma Byrd.
Wow!! This is awesome. You had me at “no flare”. This is exactly what I was looking for on the 1x1 rib sweater I am doing right now. Your instruction is so clear and thorough too. Wonderful video , thank you!❤
thank you! I prefer lots of stretch in my sweater cuffs, and my tubular bind off is just way too tight. This looks fantastic and stretches really well :) Super easy tutorial to follow and understand!
This bind off is excellent! I used it for a folded down and it was perfect as was easy to match up the rib. Also for my husbands turtle neck. He has a large neck and I find the set up rows for Italian just make the bind off tight! Love this! Thank you so much!
I did this on the bottom of the No Frills sweater by PetiteKnit and it is perfect. I had to rip an in-pattern traditional bind off because it was too tight and this Twisty Bind Off saved the day. Great explanation and video!
@@katherineh9406 thank you so much! I initially only used this bind off for socks, but now I just use it for any kind of ribbing, as you said it works great for hems!
Your very easy and precise instructions helped me, even though I had done this before, and I loved the idea of using a separate needle. That made it very much easier! Thank you!
I don't have any flaring problems with Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off because I always switch to a much smaller needle to do it. However, I'm going to try this to see how it compares in stretchiness. Thanks!
SUCH a good bind off for ribbing, thank you so much!! I am always trying new cast-ons and bind offs - this one is great and up there in the top ten! Greetings from Hong Kong.
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. I love the little running crisscross along the edge. Just the right amount of stretch but looks wonderful no matter if stretched or not. The color-work in the sweater you have on is absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you so much! I like the criss cross lines too 😊 I've got a free pattern for the sweater I'm wearing, it's called the Around the World Sweater: newleafdesigns.nl/2020/05/15/around-the-world-sweater-pattern/
I love learning something new. Great bind off; easy to remember and do as a continental knitter. It also looks lovely on my 1x1 twisted rib BO. Thanks❤
Excellent tutorial, thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for. This bind off just looks so much neater, and even when you're wearing it, you can tell the difference
Love this cast off and thanks for the step by step….so well done. And I agree with other comments…will be my go to cast off from now on. Question though…why can’t the same needle be used? Is it because of the twisting motion?
Thank you for the clearly explained technique. One thing, though, with your gray yarn on silver needles with a light blue cord and demonstrated on a gray background was not the best contrast for me. Just something to consider going forward, maybe.
2 good ways to remember what way to twist is 1) Follow the working yarn - If ur knitting ur yarns in back so twist ur tip towards it - If ur purling ur yarns in front so twist the needle towards it OR think if it as in a clock face - knitting is a "normal" stitch so go clockwise (like a clock goes forward in time) - purling is a " backwards" st so go anticlockwise (like a clock does if times going backwards)
Oh my gosh 🥰😀 the pattern on that sweater, I'm in love... how... what... where can I find that? It's just gorgeous. I love it. Please tell me where I can get that pattern with all the colors and stripes and dots...
Hi there! Yes, I'm going more in depth in one of my other videos, this one should start at the right timestamp for weaving in the end: ruclips.net/video/t8g72-q_MAQ/видео.htmlsi=DmfW1Hj6PivPeBn-&t=3377
I've had the same problem. Doesn't look as stretchy as all the videos I've watched. It still has that tight thing and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
i have a straight knit stitch tank top to bind off on bottom hem, can I use this with just the knit portion? or is there a better bind off for stretch without flare for that? really want to finish up before summer is over,,,thank you
Hi Laura! Great question. Does your tank top have any ribbing at the hem or is it only knit stitch? You could definitely just use the steps for knit sts of this cast on, although I would always recommend to add some kind of ribbed edge for a tank top.
Ps - I'm sorry I didn't see the beginning 😂😂 But I already have a pattern for the sweater I want (the best model for me) but the colors and squares and dots etc that you have in your sweater....oh my... How do I get the color diagram and the...I don't know how to say in English....
You mention if the rib is a twisted rib the bind if should be on the wrong side of garment. Please make a tutorial how it done through the wrong side . Thanks
I'm pretty new to knitting, but I noticed something. Where you put your working yarn is the same as the direction you twist your needle. I think that might be an easier way to remind yourself of the twist direction, after all the yarn in the front is more visible than the direction you will be working that next stitch. Am I wrong here in some way?
I certainly agree with @alicecourtney197 below. I've also been knitting my whole life and have never seen this type of cast off. Great video! I especially like how you take your time showing everyone how to do this. Great job!

Same here 😮❤
Great demo of my bind off, thank you. I no longer have the Ravelry account, I deleted by mistake. Lorraine

That was an interesting bind-off! I'm always interested in seeing new knitting techniques and trying them out. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you so much! It's such a nice stretchy edge isn't it, it's still my favourite :)
I'm going to give that a try. My last sock bind off flared a little more than I liked . Thanks for the new skill.
Very nice presentation!
Good memory aid!

Thank you so much! Those are exactly the reasons why I prefer this one as well 😁
GREAT 👏🏼👏🏼 Thank you for this super easy BO!
This is great thanks so much ❤ it's difficult for me to find a bind off that matches the cast on stretch wise 👍
Love this cast off and thanks for the step by step….so well done. And I agree with other comments…will be my go to cast off from now on.
Question though…why can’t the same needle be used? Is it because of the twisting motion?
Thank you for the tutorial, it was just what I was looking for and gave a nice edge to my sweater hem.
I love it...Thank you so much for showing us this fascinating bind off...I'm going to try it right now❤
Very easy to follow your directions. Thank you!
A great way to cast off. I have just done it on the bottom of a cardigan and t looks great! Thank you x

Thank you for a wonderfull smart cast off. It is a super result! And for your clear explanation!!!
@@hannekegroot5651 thank you so much!
Today is a big day, I’m ready to cast off a pair of socks with 1X1 ribbing, and I do knit continental. Thanks so much.
2 good ways to remember what way to twist is
1) Follow the working yarn
- If ur knitting ur yarns in back so twist ur tip towards it
- If ur purling ur yarns in front so twist the needle towards it
OR think if it as in a clock face
- knitting is a "normal" stitch so go clockwise (like a clock goes forward in time)
- purling is a " backwards" st so go anticlockwise (like a clock does if times going backwards)
Never heard of this cast off. Thanks.

I've tried this with bigger and bigger needles and it still doesn't stretch. No good for socks.

Same, mine isn't stretchy either???
