  • Skiing in the footsteps of the Dyatlov group - The Swedish-Russian Dyatlov Pass Expedition 2019.
    The video shows some extracts for a planned documentary. The latter will be based on the expedition results from February 2019, where a new theory to the incident will be presented.
    Update on the documentary (Nov 2020):
    The documentary “Mysteriet vid Djatlovpasset” will premiere on the Swedish Television (SVT Play) on January 31, 2021. The creation is a joint venture between the production company Pannrummet and the Swedish Television (SVT). Due to content restrictions, it will initially be aired in Sweden only. At this moment I cannot say where the documentary will be accessible next.
    For anyone interested however, I will eventually present extra material captured from our time in and around the Dyatlov Pass - on this RUclips-channel. If you have any questions about the documentary or the 2019 expedition - please contact me through my website below. Over`n Out for now!
    /Richard

    Some background:
    Our 2019 Expedition to the Dyatlov pass had two main objectives. Firstly, we wanted to come as close as possible to the historical event by experiencing the Northern Urals during the exact same days/month of the year as the Dyatlov group in 1959 - this on skis with a tent provided with a stove.
    Before getting to the position on the slope of Kholat Syakhl (“Dead Mountain”), likewise to the group in 1959, we sought to ski through the Auspiya valley in pristine snow with heavy equipment and to set up camps in the estimated positions of 1959. In experiencing the same preconditions and topography, we discovered unknown details along the trail that we think are crucial for the understanding of an enigmatic mystery and the unfolding events of February 1st, 1959.
    Secondly - the reason we went to the region in early 2019 and the transition between January and February, was a homage to the events and the 60 year anniversary of the groups passing. The expeditions core members were Richard Holmgren and Andreas Liljegren from Linköping in Sweden and Ekaterina Zimina and Artem Domogirov from Yekaterinburg, Russia.

      @@richardholmgren9525 It does appear to be the most sensible, realistic conclusion, based on the later, ski-ing party incident, where there was a sole survivor to tell the tale.
      The ''Bedtime Stories'' video about this Case is extremely good too.
      The illustrations are particularly eerie.

      True - the Bedtime Stories-guys did a fantastic job as usual. It’s important to note though that Kolmogorova, Slobodin and Dyatlov where the last to die according to our theory - a detail that was misunderstood in Bedtime Stories.

      @@richardholmgren9525 LOL, yeah I can only imagine what of hell that must have been with those super cold temps and the vastness of that wilderness. Yes, super cold indeed. I still miss the place though. It’s like time stands still there and the silence in the forests is peculiar. It was as if the Dyatlov group could have reappeared at any moment, alive. Thanks for asking but we do not know yet when the documentary will be released. It’s soon finished. Early next year I hope. We don’t really have the Discovery Channel behind us - but we’ll fix it. It’s an exciting challenge to work with this.

      @@richardholmgren9525 I understand, I'm sure it's a feeling that's very unfamiliar to our everyday lives. I'll be on the lookout for it being released. And how in the world is the Discovery Channel not interested in THIS??...that seems absolutely ridiculous, it's one of the most famous disappearances in the 20th century. The only other disappearances I can think of that's this famous is flight 19 in America, although we know what happened, we just don't know where they wound up. Good luck my friend.

    • @richardholmgren9525
      @richardholmgren9525  4 года назад +1

      Discovery is interested - it’s just that they made another documentary on the topic at the same time. I meant that we don’t have any such machinery behind us that makes a production easier. We have a small budget and therefore it takes more time. Also, arranging an expedition with winter equipment and long distance travel is expensive in itself. But we will get there. Cheers!

    i think a combination of fighting between the 9 hikers and the very strong winds
    and the fact that there tent wasnt properly fastened down resulted in there deaths.
    a very sad story, i hope you and your team didnt run into any problems

    • @richardholmgren9525
      @richardholmgren9525  4 года назад +4

      Yes, quite probable. In fact as time pass in extreme sub zero and with hypothermia kicking in, we can also expect irrational behavior. In this instance it might explain peculiarities in opposite decisions between the group members. Hypothermia usually gives symptoms of fatigue, impaired coordination ability - but also confusion and hallucinations. Thanks!

      @richardholmgren9525  4 года назад

      Thanks Quentin! Yes, foremost it is a sad event as you say. Going there makes things a bit clearer. Because, even though it was something else than the weather that killed them, the exposure of wind and freezing temperatures on Dead Mountain is nevertheless really challenging. As is also evident in their last photos on the slope.

    • @Babesinthewood97
      @Babesinthewood97 Год назад

      @Fletch animals ate the tongue and eyes. Maybe birds? The internal injuries were due to heavy snow crushing the bodies over time after they had died and been buried in the snow plus damaged by the search instruments used to locate them. Death was caused by hypothermia. Radioactivity was caused by exposure to radio activity 2 years prior due to a nuclear plant explosion in their area. It all makes sense.
