This wasn't just a live performance but it was a lived streamed concert (from Nov. 2020) with the best production quality I have ever seen/heard. It was indeed performed live on the spot and the fact that it sounds so good speaks to the talent of Ryan, the band, and everyone behind the cameras. The concert is definitely worth watching as well as listening to the original version of the song. Thanks for the great reaction and critique!
Ya definitely live all the way. Like you said it was streamed live.
To be fair, I think it was mostly the original recording, but prior to streaming the concert they cleaned up the vocals just a bit. You can see him grabbing the mic in ways where you would be able to hear it if the vocals were actually live considering how hot the mic was to pick up his breath.
From the live stream concert they talked about how they built this song up for the concert. Most of the songs were stripped down and simplified to be acoustic, but because the original of this was JUST cello and voice, they had tons of room to play around with the cord progressions and build this song into a full ensemble.
The original song is worth listening to on your own time, it's completely recorded with cello's and Ryan on vocals if I'm correct. It's great!
Cool fun fact, Ryan and his brother Don (who used to be in Demon Hunter in the early years) are both graphic designers, so they do most of their own packaging and art and they pay a lot of attention to details as in this video. That makes me love these guys even more. 'Lead Us Home' would be a great song to react to by them. Cool arrangement, heavy with great melodies, hooks and beautiful vocal parts.
“I will fail you” is another good song by them.
Love the demon hunter reactions. Binging your DH reactions rn. Figured I’d comment on a few in support!
FEELIN' YOU Spencer!!! Glad you're enjoying the show.
Fun fact: the original version of this song features no drums at all, but instead almost all strings, something that no other DH song has. That aside both versions are good, especially when listened to at 1.5x speed (I personally find that most songs are better sped up and/or pitch changed).
Wait, really!? I never noticed that.
@@EchthelionII Yeah, it's crazy and weird but it's true and also neat at the same time as well.
They did do a string version of Driving Nails from The World Is A Thorn. Don’t believe there was any drums there, but I do believe that’s only on the deluxe edition of that album.
Great analysis, great reaction. This was a more acoustic version of the original song, which is also a quieter song for Demon Hunter.
I'm very impressed by this song. The singer's voice suits the tone and mood so well. There is a beautiful hook here. The reaction from David here is phenomenal - giving technical explanations to explain my emotional reactions.
Saw them live in Sacraments, CA for the WAR AND PEACE TOUR…amazing.
More Demon Hunter! Great reaction! How about reacting to Demon Hunter's, "When the devil comes?"
Another great reaction, another one on point. This definitely is a different feel for Demon Hunter.
This doesn't get near enough praise. This band is absolutely genius!
Such an awesome performance
MOAR DEMON HUNTER!!
Your instrumentation knowledge is impressive. Lol
Reaction to "Fading Away" and "Collapse" of Demon Hunter, are classic song of the band. "The Last Of Alive" and "Dead Flowers" too are song to surprise.
I'm from Brazil, sorry for my English. 😁
With technology nowadays, you can reverberate voices live. We had that tech in the early 2000’s, but technology has moved forward quite a lot. You’d be surprised what’s possible. I’m taking a photoshop class and I’m surprised what’s possible with technology. Now fully believe it’s possible to photoshop certain stuff. I don’t necessarily know one way or the other, just saying it’s fully possible it was live even given the vocals.
Great review. I subbed. Keep it up.
I'm super curious how the original would compare in your opinion.
Btw love learning more about musical structure while watching these.
I love this band. Your break down is fantastic
I would like to suggest “if tomorrow never comes“ by Demon Hunter
Haste the Day - Stitches reaction
One of the few songs I DO like by these guys!!! I'm NOT a fan of most Christian music/bands, even when I was one, BUT these guys are better than the majority of Christian bands out there and their songs from what I have been exposed to by a friend, seem to be able to be taken as non religious as well as religious, which makes it easier to listen to, imo at least.
