"Would you look at the man?!" One of my favorites. Movie went from cheesy asf in the first half to Oscar worthy stuff in the second half and showed Adam has some talent in the drama category.
One of the most heartbreaking scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie. I would say of Adam Sandler’s movies this one has one of the best messages behind the comedy.
I remember being 19 back in 2006 and starting my new job. My dad offered me to go out and eat or watch a movie at the theater a few times and I would decline because I was caught up with something with work. After watching this movie when it came out it gave me a lesson. I started doing more things with my dad before he passed in 2018. Family always comes first.

What, however, makes me appreciate this film, is the amazing message at its very core. Yes, it was a comedy with very... It's compared to "It's a Wonderful Life", due to how both protagonists don't appreciate what good things they DO have, and how much they wanted it all to be different somehow and someway. The movie truly hits hard in how much it's focused on showing a workaholic type of man or woman the reasons why to prioritize family instead, especially when the main character's dad dies when he was skipping time so much, seeing that he treated him like garbage so much. It's the whole concept of giving people a good self-reflection in ways they need, and for that... I'd say Happy Madison Productions deserves a lot of praise for this concept and when there is the serious execution in this story too. Sure, Adam Sandler can SUCK at the comedy he writes, I think the lowest of his comedic movies was "That's My Boy", about being a middle schooler who hooked up with his hot teacher cause she was a total pedophilic creep, and had a son wayyyy too early, then reflecting on how he should have been a better dad as he reconnected with him... By far my favorite Adam Sandler movie. I saw it in the theater when it came out with my sons. The first third, I was literally laughing out loud. The second third I was amazed at the sci-fi part with the remote. The last third I was crying my eyes out. It was amazing!
I always passed up this film and just watched it for the first time yesterday. What a great movie. I can’t believe this one slipped through the cracks.
Solid mix of Adams range. He really is a solid actor. Glad you enjoyed this. As a father who was pretty much not around for the first part of my daughters life this movie hit me pretty hard as she was about 8 when this came out. Can't say this was a reason for the change in my life, but Glad I got a second chance and didn't waste it. Just wish it didn't take 12 years for me to get my head out of my ass.
This movie grew on me over the years. I remember a lot of people went nuts over how good this movie is when it first came out, and I didn’t see the hype then. But I got older and watched it more, and more…and more, and I have so much love for it now. Excellent choice today.
I just lost my grandpa and I attended his memorial service today. I decided to rewatch a couple of videos from some of my favorite creators and I ended up watching this video for about the 10th time to feel some sort of comfort. I cried my eyes out when he rewound the grandfather’s last words. My grandfather, due to a brain injury many years ago has not been able to truly communicate his feelings like that to me for so long. I really wish I could hear those words from his lips just one more time. Even though I’m an absolute wreck now rewatching this, I am so thankful to you Mary. You probably will never see this, but I’m extremely thankful that I can come to safe places such as this that content creators/amazing individuals like you are willing to provide. Even though it is unlikely we will ever meet or talk, I am so thankful for people like you who are willing to share their work just because it feeds their soul. I hope that you continue to spread love and comfort the way you already do. Seriously, the heart you put into your work gives people like me a chance to feel hopeful, to laugh, to cry, and to just be able to feel alongside another person when we feel alone. I’m happy that I get to look back on today’s events and be able to say that I got in a few laughs and smiles despite my pain and grief. Thank you so so much Mary. Wishing you all the best 🙏🏼
I recently lost my mom, not too long after my dad. Thankfully I was not often rude or cruelly dismissive of them. I hated my mom calling me every day just to check up on me, but largely due to this film, i always took it graciously. I always regretted when I was a kid and refused to let my mom read Harry Potter to me, which she wanted to do despite my advanced reading level. Ever since seeing Click, I made sure never to take the small moments for granted. But it never softens the sting of loss loss. Watching this after their deaths isn't any comfort. I'm sorry about your grandpa, and I hope you get some comfort from this.
Loved your reaction! I am 49 and FINALLY realized my peace and serenity is worth far more than money. Everyone needs to learn to live within their means, not within their dreams. Life is not hard, WE make it hard. Again, great reaction and hope this movie makes you think about what’s really important! ❤
Definitely my favorite Adam Sandler film. People hate on him for having so many similar characters, but this one really shows his range as an actor. He is always yelly and high energy, but he can really play serious, dramatic and sad. The scene with his father before he died and the scene where he left the hospital in the rain tore my heart up and I did cry some ugly tears ngl. But it was a fantastic film.
Loved your reaction, Mary. This film always takes me off guard by how it manages to entertain, maintain a strong story, drag out such emotion, and send a clear message. By the end, you can clearly draw the connections to “It’s A Wonderful Life” and how this is almost a modern remake of it. It leaves you with the same feeling in the end: to appreciate all the greatness you already have in your life. This is a great film.
I've seen this movie MANY times, but I never picked up on the fact that Terry Crewes appeared in it till you pointed it out. Wow, I'm completely mind-blown lol
This reaction really hit me deep! It has always made me cry, but now my dad has been going through some pretty big health issues and will likely have to have surgery. He's always been the strongest man i know so I'm confident and hopeful he will recover, but there's no certainty that it will be a long or even short term fix. He's one of my best friends and I have so many things to still experience in life that I want him to be a part of so the later scenes with his dad had me crying my eyes out. Sorry for the long comment, but this is the first time I've really expressed these thoughts. I always enjoy your energy in your reactions and i always leave a little more joyful, even this one.
I was young when I watch this movie, I cried thinking bout my dad. I’m 37 now, working overseas for my son’s future. I still cry every time I watch this movie. I rewatched this when my son turned 12, I got really emotional because I just can’t believe how much time I’ve missed. This movie is a reminder always to me that time with family is very important.
This is a good movie. It's very underrated in my opinion. I'm so happy you did this reaction. The movie is funny, heartbreaking and heartwarming. I was extremely glad the ending is a very happy one. It has a good message.
Geez, this movie gets me every time, which is why I only ever watch it when I'm alone. Though I didn't know it would still get me in a reaction video! Such a good movie.
Watching this movie again made me tear up so much and this one of my favorite movies and this movie shows you to enjoy your life to the fullest and never take anything for granted
As a teenager still in high school watching this in theaters made my cry like a baby. I thought it would be another Sandler movie but didnt expect the second half of the movie to completely tear me apart. I vowed to myself that i would live life to the fullest and not let it revolve around money. No kids yet but i would like some soon. I want to make those closest to me happy while being happy doing so. This is by far my favorite movie from Sandler. Wedding singer is a close second though.
What really got me was the note he wrote for his wife. Still had it with him. When he gave her the note, and she said forever and ever babe, i burst into tears. He died in so much pain and regret. I dont want to die like that. Bit my grandmother taught me to put everything in God's hands as she did my life when she passed.
I watched this film alone in a theater when I was 13 -14. I'm glad to see someone else who broke with that note at the end. This movie hits you by surprise, so emotional.
Michael’s death on that rainy sidewalk is supposed to be the emotional climax of this movie, but the final scene with his grandpa gets me every single time.
Yes! I was hoping and waiting for your reaction to this movie! Love it! 👏❤ Yes, as funny as this movie was at the beginning sure did take a turn nobody saw coming. 😢”I love you, son.” and “Family comes first.” gets me every time.😢

This movie gives me a life lesson about family and friends, i cried like a baby watching this movie, and make me rethink about my life, getting old sucks because that's life, it goes quick 😭😭😭
It's probably the best Adam Sandler film. It really took its time to make you think it was just another comedy. Even the trailers made you think it just a comedy. I love 50 First Dates, but I think objectively this movie is his best.
44:08 Turn 360 and just walk away. Great movie, definitely deserves more appreciation than it gets. I was very talented back by this movie when I first watched it not knowing anything about it. Great message, delivered well. Think your comments on it were spot on.
I remember going to see this in theatres when it came out when I was in my early teens. Thought I was in for a comedy through and through, but the emotional parts took me by surprise. Love the movie, I feel like it's underrated. Even just watching your reaction got me tearing up cause it's been a good few years since the last time I watched it.
every single time I watch this movie, I cry. it's the one movie that can make me cry every single time, even tho ive seen it a thousand times. such a good movie!
In 1997, there was a television show called Goosebumps. One episode is called "Click", same story: A magical remote control that controls the world, only it doesn't have a happy ending. It seems that, the movie is inspired by that whole episode, you should watch the tv show, or at least, The haunting hours: the serie.
This movie owns my heart. From the emotion to the comedy aspect to the theme of it, it just hits. Plus, it's Adam Sandler. One of his best works, hands down.
Esse foi o primeiro filme que me fez chorar quando criança. A dosagem humor/drama do filme é muito repentina e ambas muito forte. O valor da família é o que tiramos desse filme. Saudade de filmes assim.
This movie is all about being present as a father and not living on a selfish mode of autopilot. Being a father is taking in the bad and good while remaining a loving leader. Life is precious and nothing is more important than your time with your family. It's fleeting.
Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love (2002) will make you cry more. It's one of Sandler's underrated crowning achievements in acting. There's a reason why it is in the Criterion Collection. A Dark Romantic Dramatic Comedy about a man with social anxiety. Very relatable film.
I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out. Front row balling my eyes out with my family. One of the first films to make me cry in front of people.

14:53 ... Loved that most of us wanted the remote at this point... and the movie makes you see it's NO GOOD!
I absolutely love this movie.
I cried like a lil b for the dad scene and when he's dying. It's so underrated.
Loved your reaction! I am 49 and FINALLY realized my peace and serenity is worth far more than money. Everyone needs to learn to live within their means, not within their dreams. Life is not hard, WE make it hard. Again, great reaction and hope this movie makes you think about what’s really important! ❤
Probably my favorite reaction to this movie on RUclips yet, thanks for reacting 🙏🏼
I've seen this film like a hundred times, but i cry EVERY SINGLE TIME
You need to see "Reign Over Me" with Adam Sandler, it's NOT a comedy but a drama. I think you'd really love to see him in that role.
"Just go down on her."
MARY! 😂🤣 I'm sick right now and I'm trying so hard not to laugh
6:49/50 - The woman in blue playing Adam Sandler's character's mom is Julie Kavner aka the voice of Marge Simpson.
I had to wake up my parents to give them a big hug after this one.
Thanks!
Thanks for the dono!!=)
Yes! I was hoping and waiting for your reaction to this movie! Love it! 👏❤ Yes, as funny as this movie was at the beginning sure did take a turn nobody saw coming. 😢”I love you, son.” and “Family comes first.” gets me every time.😢
Your reaction and editing was AWESOME! I enjoyed it so much. Thank you for doing this one.
This is my fav movie of all time and never failed makes me cried like a child
It is indeed 1 of the best movies if not THE BEST movie of Adam Sandler 😂🤣😂 Merry Cherry Berry😉
This movie makes me cry every damn time (including this time). Love it. Glad to see you enjoyed it too.
Really enjoyed your reaction! I've forgotten how good this movie is. I think this and the wedding singer are my favorite Adam Sandler movies.
Definitely one of my favorite movies. Such a great message, and a fantastic reaction! 👏 Oh, have you seen 50 first dates and blended? Those are great too!
Personally one the greatest Adam's films ever, and my favourite so far. A lot of emotions, from laughing to crying in an instant.
Great reaction Mary! This one really takes you on an emotional run. It's funny, it's emotional, it's crazy, it's all over the place. Great second chance movie! Glad you enjoyed. Luv ya MC❤💛
I was in the military and deployed overseas when this movie came out. I ugly cried when I saw this movie and still do to this day. Even while watching you watch it. It's not a great film, but it's one of my favorites.
Christopher Walkens gibberish sounds in this movie is priceless
I remember going to see this in theatres when it came out when I was in my early teens. Thought I was in for a comedy through and through, but the emotional parts took me by surprise. Love the movie, I feel like it's underrated. Even just watching your reaction got me tearing up cause it's been a good few years since the last time I watched it.
every single time I watch this movie, I cry. it's the one movie that can make me cry every single time, even tho ive seen it a thousand times. such a good movie!
I love when Mary says Walken's last name, she talks like he does 😂❤
In 1997, there was a television show called Goosebumps. One episode is called "Click", same story: A magical remote control that controls the world, only it doesn't have a happy ending. It seems that, the movie is inspired by that whole episode, you should watch the tv show, or at least, The haunting hours: the serie.
I love the O'Doyles made a comeback from Billy Madison
O'Doyles rule!
This movie owns my heart. From the emotion to the comedy aspect to the theme of it, it just hits. Plus, it's Adam Sandler. One of his best works, hands down.
I cry literally every time I watch this. I love this movie but it's 50/50 on whether others love it as well
My favs are the Sandler/Barrymore trilogy (The Wedding Singer / 50 First Dates / Blended) but I also love this one, Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison
I saw this in theaters. I cannot lie, I cried. Like a sobbing cry.
I agree, this is a very good Sandler movie. Underrated. I like how his films typically have heart.
This movie always fucks up me, I don't even know why, but it makes me ride an emotional rollercoaster
I hope I always look to this movie as a reminder that family always comes before anything including work
Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love (2002) will make you cry more. It's one of Sandler's underrated crowning achievements in acting. There's a reason why it is in the Criterion Collection. A Dark Romantic Dramatic Comedy about a man with social anxiety. Very relatable film.
That’s my brother’s favorite Adam Sandler movie, when it’s drama.
@@nathancruz9172 I personally think Click is good, but it borders on super overratedly recommended all the time.
I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out. Front row balling my eyes out with my family. One of the first films to make me cry in front of people.
Great message and observations in your summary Mary… 👏👏😁
