I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and fish ponds regularly. For years my go to lures have been wakebaits, Little Cleo spoons, squarebills and spinner baits. Most of the people around here throw worms and jigs. The bass see a ton of them in every color and size. The 2/5oz little cleo has been an amazing bait during the Spring and Fall, but I also fish it in the summer using it like a flutter spoon. I have also hammered some huge catfish with the spoons when letting it run deep. The fish get below the thermocline and hang out near the aerator. At night, I'll throw "The Egg" wakebait from Bass Pro. It is LOUD and makes a great bait on pitch black nights. I've caught a huge number of 5lb+ bass using it. One day I was rolling up the bass as fast as I could cast. Another guy came over and was bewildered by it. I showed him the lure and the next week I ran into him again and he had several. Share the knowledge and share the excitement, but most importantly, share your respect for the sport and keep it alive.
Another DFW local here, specifically north DFW (Frisco/Plano area), gonna have to try out the egg, never heard of it. I fish ponds all the time after work and on weekends if I don’t feel like taking the boat/kayak out. Glad to see another local here, stay cool man, this heat is a killer!
Most of the ponds I fish in Florida just have to much vegetation to use anything with treble hooks, heck a lot of times you can't even have an exposed hook.
I’m actually in DFW for family and I gotta argee with you. Over where I live in SoCal, we use a lot of bfs lures or giant glides baits. So when I started to fish your locals ponds. I was surprised how much of my tackle was useless.
I have frogs from several different brands and if we're talking bang for buck, I still think that the Booyah pad crasher is hard to beat. Great video as always guys!
Love bank fishing and wading creeks. Golf course can be tricky lol. Been throwing zoom super fluke forever. Best tip from you guys was the tmac. Great video.
For ponds, I keep it simple..1) Frog 2) texas-rig craw 3) megabass sleeper gill 4) Googan Dart soft jerk 5) 6" green pumpkin stickbait , w/chartreuse dye tip 6) 8" Savage Gear snake wake 7) bluegill color popper 8) bluegill color swim jig 9) Gantarel Jr. 10) buzzbait 11) bluegill color lipless crank 12) Spro BBZ rat 40 13) Stanley Ribbit Toad 14) 5.25" Savage Gear shine glide in crappie 15) spinnerbait.....I like to keep it simple & only carry 15 Rods & 4 boxes of lures for ponds
Good story. I caught a seagull, no big deal. But another time caught a bat on topwater. And the coolest of all was when an eagle just scooped my bone white Whopper Plopper 75 as I was creating a wake on the surface of the water. It held it for two seconds before just releasing it and flying away!
I don't even like fishing the big lakes. They are all over fished. People brag about it to, like that is a natural fishery. It's like guys who hunt public land, and pretend that deer being so spooked they won't move during the day is somehow a more natural setting. It's not, it's been ruined by to many people.
I will agree with Tim, the Scum Frogs are the softest on the market. My problem is, that frog is incredibly hard to walk because of this. I’ve never had a problem with walking a frog until I tried Scum frog. Still works over the tops of mats very well.
In NJ a green pumpkin red flake stick bait and a sexy shad type color swimbait/fluke is money.. I noticed the red flake gets the fish better than any color flake for me.
For me, that Big Bite Trick Stick outfishes the Senko exponentially. The Trick Stick sinks slower and that seems to make a huge difference where I'm fishing.
The places I fish are heavily pressured with clear water but the benefit is that I learned the lake and pond like the back of my hand. Everyone and their cousin throws live worms, frogs, spinnerbaits and stick worms. Just yesterday, I seen 2 stick worms in the water, a white and also a green pumpkin with a chartreuse tip. I've actually had to expand my techniques to be successful there. Ponds close to me either are dead with no fish or fenced off.
I’ve bank fished the hell out of six different ponds this year. My number one producer bait has been hands down the Berkley Choppo 90 in bone color. Second and third, probably equally effective, are a weightless fluke and a wacky rigged senko. I have fished frogs off and on but have yet to catch a single fish on a frog.
Tbh as I get older, I prefer pond fishing in the summertime when it's extremely hot. I had a heart attack a couple seasons back- on the water, in my kayak. And now I can't take the heat anymore. It feels like the sun is trying to squash me into the bottom of the boat. Plus, no matter which way I get situated, when I go to cast and retrieve that sun bounces off the water's surface and directly into my eyes and face. I wear a big sun hat and I still end up with a slightly sun burned face- and I'm using 50 SPF. I assume that's because I'm red headed and we burn super easy. But on the bank- there's shade- and most of the places I fish are shaded pretty much all the way around accept the side the sun is hitting directly, of course. And when I'm in my kayak- I'm fishing the bank anyway- I'm not going offshore with it. Fishing offshore in a kayak with no trolling motor or pedal drive is just no fun to me- too much of a hassle. Might be why I'm not catching much though- the water was 89 degrees on Pickwick 2 days ago- at 7am. I fished bank cover for over 8 hrs and caught one small mouth and a tiny little sun fish- that's it, all day.
Southern states honorable mention should have been a swimjig or casting jig....I have had some of my best pond days on them and caught my pb pond bass on a jig
Learning your double blood knot for swim baits ordered some of that shock leader in 35lbs! Do you use the same connection knot for regular braid to leader pond fishing ?
I’m looking to get a rod and reel for under $175, I throw a lot of Texas and wacky rigs so I need something that will give me the best for that. I’m open to casting or spinning
I've got a question. IF Im using a T-rig weighted worm vs a shakey head rigged worm, what's the difference to what the fish see? Is the presentation somehow different to the fish?
i lost the biggest bass i’ve ever hooked into on a frog in a pond man i’ll never forget it biggest bass i’ve ever seen and i catch 4-6 pounders all the time made them look small.

Started out at the age of 5 and still doing it at 69. Thanks tim

I agree with ya on that one. Best frog I’ve found for the price
I live for pond fishing, thank you!
Love the shore fishing plus the tips and tricks to help us! Thank you Tim and Matt!
Nice to see Scum Frog getting love on here. Best frogs ever! 🐸🐸🐸👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Some more pond videos would be awesome

If that's SIMPLE...OMG THATS PLENTY HEHE
@@MegaLargemouth 🤣 yes, I'm a lure junkie...really would never carry that much
@andybales7318 Hey that's part of the fun!
Dang son, kitech 2.8 for me, if that doesn’t work… on to the super fluke

BBB trick stick caught my pb earlier this spring, love that bait
Bank beating and creek wading is the only fishing i do 👍🏾

@@Steve-ev6vx I hear ya on that!
Same here
I hope to be doing some pond fishing today!
Another great video for us pond fishermen! Keep it up!
Great ICast review video last night, and video today
Excellent presentation for local fishing. Thank you. Please deliver more as your time permits.

Dang. Perfect timing to open youtube
Miami Florida canals when I was a kid!
Oh yeah let's go. I need more pond videos so I can grow my channel and share what I love doing with everyone
Awesome video Tim,small pond fishing is so much fun ❤
Think we all would love a few videos of nothing but fish stories!
Love this thanks as always

senko’s, brush hogs, & laugh if you want - beetle spins
Good morning folks. I'm Tim Little. Welcome back to Tactical Beavering. 😂😂😂😂😂
In NJ a green pumpkin red flake stick bait and a sexy shad type color swimbait/fluke is money.. I noticed the red flake gets the fish better than any color flake for me.
These pond fishing videos are great but it would awesome if you did some pond videos on new baits and techniques that aren't the obvious ones
For me, that Big Bite Trick Stick outfishes the Senko exponentially. The Trick Stick sinks slower and that seems to make a huge difference where I'm fishing.
These ones are my favorites!!

We have cut holes in all the fences on the ones on county and city property. It's the public's, they aren't keeping me out. The Florida DOT ponds too.
I've been KILLING it this year on the fluke, disco green is my go-to color they destroy it!
I’ve bank fished the hell out of six different ponds this year. My number one producer bait has been hands down the Berkley Choppo 90 in bone color.

I have fished frogs off and on but have yet to catch a single fish on a frog.
I use soft plastic toad and have good luck. I hate hollow body frogs and walking baits with a passion.
@@Steve-ev6vx which soft plastic toads do you throw? I have some Horny Toads that I picked up as trailers for a buzz bait.

I love my Shimano Zodias spinning rods, which one should I buy that is best for shaky heads? 7' medium?
Headed to a lake today and staying a couple nights so hopefully I can get all the bass all times of the day
In Nebraska, the best fishing is in ponds.
Southern states honorable mention should have been a swimjig or casting jig....I have had some of my best pond days on them and caught my pb pond bass on a jig
Same, my VA pb is on a grass jig
Good work!! Like 58

I used to live by you and I met you
Which of these techniques would you throw on a poison adrena 6’10 medium plus?

Can you give us some top baits and tips for bank fishing in upstate new York plzz??
@TactialBassin I have a question what's the best treble hook for a spook
I can't get bit on the frog the same as I used 2 ... been a struggle the last few years, out here in norcal sounds crazy I know

Come on now Tim ,a toddler is between the age of 1-3 i really doubt you were walking the banks by yourself fishing.🤯🤐
