    Such a calm and relaxing video with great music....you're very talented with the camera position. Wish life was this pleasant...the waves here are so nice and not walls. LA waves are terrible wall crashing and no shape...San Diego is paradise and I can only dream of these waves in LA...

      Hi Paul, thanks for the comment. I had to watch the video again it was a couple of years ago. It was a fun day and got crowded. I am waiting for a nice bump in the swell so I can video. It has been a very small summer over all.

      Hi Tim, that is so cool. I feel the save way. I am not sure why, but I think the waves are so beautiful and the fact you can ride them, Bonus!

    I've never had the opportunity to surf this spot (living in Oregon) but it sure reminds me of the Middle Peak at Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz; mushy but some power and catches swell better than most other spots in the area with room for a couple of surfers on the wave.

    Lucky Lucky people... What a joy to watch Frank. Nice sets, long rides and great shots again Frank.
    This would be our very, very best (which happens, but very occasionaly) and I wouldn't be able to film as I would only be surfing the hell out of those waves. Excellent stuff.

      Hi Dirk, the long awaited swell arrived. I understand, the waves were very inviting and you would have ripped it!

      That is so cool, thanks man. I hope you are scoping out the latest videos from the North Shore. Sunset going off last Wed. & Thus. New swell coming in tomorrow 6-8', Wed. 8-11' and then dropping back down on Thursday. Should be great if the Trades don't go over 12 knots and no rain.

    How localized is windensea? Will I get my tires slashed if I surf there or if I’m respectful will it all go ok?

    • @bacondudepastor
      @bacondudepastor  4 года назад

      Hi, from my experience when you go to any new break, you work your way into the line up. You don't take off in front of anyone else. You gradually work your way deeper into the line up. It used to be pretty bad, but I thin people are mellowing out.

    • @bacondudepastor
      @bacondudepastor  4 года назад

      I just shot Windansea this morning, check the video. It was pretty crowded, I really don't think you need to worry about your tires. Just be cool in the lineup and you will do fine.

      Da Kine, dude when it is going off, great peak, drop and ride. I would love to video it when it is that good! I am booked to got to Oahu on Aug. 18th for 3 weeks. So I will be shooting every day as long as there are waves. South shore and West side break during the summer. So stand by for some serious surf action.

    Nicely crowded there's always been people there however in the seventies when I live down the street caught it by ourselves a couple different times I was fortunate enough to live in La Jolla between PB point and Bird Rock and off of Torrey Pines a little street called Whitefield place a long long time ago I can remember in the winter time it would just be me and my little brothers couple of kids from around town there wasn't even any houses on the oceanfront in South La Jolla some of it was built out just remember afternoon that would just go on forever plenty of Lobster and crab my mother loved it when we brought that home I wasn't even driving in those days my old friends I wonder where they're at now all my first girlfriends seems to me girls were a lot nicer back then and then we moved back to Laguna lot of good memories they're too all gone now it's all over run and overpriced everywhere Crazy Town SoCal

    soooo, which surfer controls the peak???

    • @bacondudepastor
      @bacondudepastor  5 лет назад

      Whoever is sitting in the right place when the swell arrives. Peaks shift slightly, so you have to know approximately where the peak shows up and park their butts there. You might have 3 guys paddling for the approaching wave, the guy that pics up the wave first, technically has the right of way. Watch Waimea Bay video dated 1-3-19, you will see many people paddling for the same wave and it gets crowded on the wave.

    • @bacondudepastor
      @bacondudepastor  6 лет назад

      Hi Michael, I would love to video Blacks. I need to go by there some time and see how close I can get to it for a launch point. Connection is Line of Sight, so I can't launch from way inland because the cliff will block the transmission. But I will work on it.

      @WinshipWheatley 5 лет назад +1

      I remember a clean up set that came in at pohoieki (spelling?!). When the guys on the inside said it was only 2 feet it really confused me as a east coaster. Also, when my north shore buddy was like, “why do you want to go out?!? It’s flat!” We went out and I cought the biggest wave of my life (up to that point). Playing the wave size down increases as you head west I guess.

    • @bacondudepastor
      @bacondudepastor  5 лет назад +3

      @@WinshipWheatley dude, I like your logic! When we were growing up surfing, we looked at the face of the wave. It it was taller than a person, it was overhead. The face of the wave is always bigger than the swell. You probably know all this stuff. It is just a matter of what a person is measuring swell or face size. I have gotten to the point I always under estimate the size or I get comments like you see above. I liked your story, because that is so true. In Hawaii they only look at the swell size.

    • @WinshipWheatley
      @WinshipWheatley 5 лет назад

      Frank Kovacs yea, it’s dangerous for kooks (which I was at the time... still might be if I’m out of shape). 6 ft is what there saying on land but when you get out there it’s 15 foot faces. all the while I am getting dragged in front of hollow barrels at rocky point and dragging my fins on the reef with sea urchins ready to impale my flesh. I thought I’d be fine because I followed two girls out. Won’t make that mistake again.

    Stop hovering your drone 15 feet above the lineup. You're annoying and someone is gonna drop you one of these days.

      Hi David, I try not to hover over the peak, but try and sit off to the side. I am trying to be as considerate as possible by keeping a safe distance. Aloha!
