Your dad's right about the cured meats in Germany. I was in Bavaria and was taken for a meal by a Director of the (huge) company I was working for at the time. The restaurant was at the top of a hill and we had a really nice walk up, all the way I was being told about the cured meats that were prepared by the owner of the establishment. It was a really big deal, both the meal and the invitation. In the end we served plates of dark looking slightly greasy shoe leather that tasted of pretty much nothing. Worse, we had to keep enthusing about the meat and how yummy it was... which it wasn't. Another entertaining day... absolutely fantastic.
I have been to Bavaria since and can relate to your experience... on the plus side they gave us plenty of beer to wash it down 🤣 Thanks for watching as always Neil 👍
