- Promotional spot for the release of Helen's "Act Of Mercy" single and album, "Blue Notes" turns into a discussion about the wicked ways of British press and Boy George's heroin addiction. Awkward!
In my opinion no one has been able to fill Helen Terry's shoes as far as back up singers for culture club. The band has had some good singers with them but Helens voice is just one of a kind. Last I heard her & Boy George were not speaking. I hope that has changed because they were amazing together. I miss her so much. Her voice would make my hairs stand up!!!!❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
Same here
Just letting you know. She is my cousin.
@@margaretconnolly1596 lucky! Tell her she is amazing if you see her. I’d love to see her sing live.
@@margaretconnolly1596 wish Helen well, from a huge fan.❤
Exactly!
I loved the chemistry she had with Boy George. Their voices sounded so good together. They really complimented each other’s voices.
Her belting vocals made most of the songs. Together her and George were the sound of culture club
So articulate and that voice! Miss you Helen!!!
I Miss Helen Terry to me she was the 5th Member of Culture Club
It's interesting that the name Culture Club had to do with the diversity of the band: gay and straight, Jew and gentile, black and white. If they made her member of the band instead as an associate, we'd have male and female.
@@panowa8319 oh yeah!
Love Helen Terry and her vocals could move mountains.
That woman's voice too me was, and still is exciting. I mean , Church of the poison mind, That's the way, and Blackmoney, are just a few of the jems that bare her vocals. Also I think Aretha Franklin(R.I.P) was interested in having her sing with her. Props and respect too you Ms. Terry.
So nice to see this interview with Helen, what a charming, intelligent and very talented lady. Her 1986 album is an absolute gem
She was great with CC! She completed CC. Great by herself too. What a voice!!!
Love her. Her backing vocal on Victims makes the song for me. So was so pretty too!
Helen Terry has an amazing voice. With the right songs, she is a talent to be hailed.
It did seem like a missed opportunity to talk about her Sensational debut solo album. There's so many great gems on that release. She work with so many notable songwriters. Her voice is simply outstanding on it and all they want to do is ask her questions about Boy George. That had to have been tough. She handled it like a real Pro.
Well they actually asked her about CC as a whole. It just happened to lead to George
Helen also did a soul-stirring duet for a movie soundtrack with Ray Parker Jr. called “Sunny Day” (it’s on RUclips!) and displayed quite a range of diversity in musical genres. I absolutely adore her! She made Culture Club even better.
For the longest time, I didn’t know that was her. Love that song!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you
Extremely rare. Never seen before, how eloquent and thoughtful and mature for such a young lady. Anne Diamond, what a hypocritical ugly person. She is a Quintessential 80s face of course, but it's hard to stomach her judgemental style, when she in fact was definitely not a beacon of morality herself. TV AM was always having George, Marilyn and others on and there was always this overbearing sort of British disdain in the way they interviewed them. Sheena Easton was also put through it but she was fantastically media trained and came off less defensive looking. Nowadays of course, it's the opposite, celebs just won't go on tv unless they're being fawned over and the evolution of the PR business and cross-promotion means we're essentially seeing product placement and adverts now, instead of journalists looking for an angle or just doing their job. Of course I should add that Helen came off lightly here. How wonderful to see her, lovely talented woman looking so great- and I love the song 'Act of Mercy', and those stunning photographs in the beginning.
What a truly LOVELY lady!! Always remember her instantly recognisable, powerful and talented contribution to Culture Club - so nice, intelligent and glamorous - her personality lights up the screen! Great to see her here! Thanks for Uploading!
And 4th one actually got even better
How dare they not talk about her music, poor Helen Terry didn't stand a chance with idiots interviewing her
Lástima que está en inglés y no entiendo lo que dicen. Pero que impresionante voz de Hellen Terry. ♥️🥰😍
Would have been nice if they interviewed her more about HER music. Helen has THE best voice of any singer EVER, period. No vocalists George has used since match up. I still find it so odd they way people say the 3rd Culture Club album was so not up to scratch. It's a wonderful album, it's really not that bad!
I find CC third album very mediocre and compared with the first 2 CC albums a mere disappointment
Maravillosa voz👍🇲🇽🙋🏻♀️☘️
OMG She’s adorable!
Church of the Poison Mind has just been on Radio 2 which led me to search for Helen. Great voice and love that track! What a very nice lady, never seen her interviewed before.
Fabulosa entrevista con la dulce Helen Terry, siempre estuve celosa de ella porque estaba muy cerca de mi adorado Boy George 😂😂❤️❤️
Si tienes razón es una privilegiada!!!!amo a boy George!!!!

OMG a Helen Terry interview! Shes gorgeous!
Waaaaaauuuuu!!!!, siempre quise saber de ella, excelente. Saludos y gracias por el video 🇲🇽
geez, I would have told them they should just interview Boy George and did they have any questions about ME? Too bad, I wanted to know more about Helen Terry.
Thanks for The video 👍
So pretty. When she left C.C. they sort of went down the toilet. She is so articulate and is oh so dignified. I still have Blue Notes and love it. Church of the poison mind would have been nothing without Helen. Also love her contribution to Electric Dreams with "Now you're mine." Always loved Helen and in my view she was the 5th OFFICIAL member of C.C.!!! Thanks for sharing.
DAMN BITC ..WHY SO HATEFUL?. YOU ARE POISON
I wish they had talked more about her fantastic soloalbum
Helen Terry is a adorable I met her outside of the Theatre in Philadelphia and she signed my program. I said " where is Boy George" she is said he is sleeping LOL
Before Adele, Helen Terry and Lisa Stansfield 💖💖💖
What a pretty lady. She and George have gospel type voices. So sorry they don't work together anymore. Helen seemed ill at ease at this interview.
increible voz , pero en su tiempo creo fue opacada o no le dieron la oportunidad que merecía, por lo menos por estos lados de america, pero excelente voz y muy bonita.
I have to say, as a man born in UK who is a child of the 80s listening to the interview now , they are so negative with the line of questioning with her ? There's nothing positive they ask her ?
love her and her voice
so sad this interview was more about Culture Club and Boy George than Helen's music.
This was recorded during the scandal that haunted George that summer of 86. They had similar interviews with Jon Moss, Richard Branson, and even some of George's family members being interviewed all over British television that week. I wish Helen had the opportunity to release her album at a later date, because George's drug problems took the total attention of the media for a month or more right at the same time this was released. It was made even worse by her connection with him, but nobody was taking about much anything else then.
I absolutely love Helen's voice. She's awesome! But this song isn't for her.
This interview wasn't about Helen.
True. It was extremely disrespectful of her talent and career.
That is so strange, as a backing singer her voice sounded amazing, as a solo artist her recordings do not sound that great...
With such a powerful voice, having the right music producer and arrangement is key to highlighting the power of a voice like that.
Lisa Stansfield is a good example of having the right people to arrange music to highlight the power of her voice.
Aaliyah is another example of having the right people to arrange music for her soft singing voice.
I wish Helen had the right music producers behind her. I think her music producers couldn't match her talent. She should have been just as popular as Adele because she definitely has the voice!
"Church of the POOOIIISSON mind!!!!!"
Great voice, should have been a much bigger artist after those CC tracks
Wow, her speaking voice definitely did not match her singing voice.
This is the biggest i've seen her & she went into tv.
She is a great singer. She has a black soul.
I’m watching Culture Club documentary on prime video. Good memories. I am getting old.
Looks like she raided Boy George's makeup bag, well he did define that 80's look.
😆😂😂
I wonder why she didn't sing with simply red I missed opportunity
it's Tony Blair the interviewer?
Not very loyal to the band whose association made her famous.
George isnt god !
I agree. Although his initials are GOD 🤔
@@MRDL236123 how ironic
@@MRDL236123 omg I never noticed that!😂😂😂
What person said he WAS? If any stars get treated like Gods it Britney spears and Beyonce. No offense to them
@@MRDL236123I respectfully disagree his Initials are GAD he was born George Alan O'Dowd.
Typical of these 80s British presenters. So condescending and full of contempt.
love her
