- Be careful of knock off art supplies. Now this doesn't mean they are all bad, some of them are good... But, when they advertise one thing and do another or use such similar packaging to a well established and trusted brand it's hard to not occasionally get "got".
I would caution against buying knock off supplies if you really need them to work in a specific way. This pack technically saved me like $5 compared to buying the name brand... But did it really save me if i have to replace them?
I typically like using pen after painting so my ability to recommend alternatives is limited. If you have a favorite waterproof pen drop it in the comments.
Also, even with well established brands make sure you check that the pens are labeled as waterproof. Micron makes some pens that aren't waterproof so you do need to check.
Sakura art supplies are the BEST. Their pigma ink is no joke. They’re a bit more expensive in stores so I would recommend a/mazon, if you can
Thanks for the tip!
Best price I've found on individual microns is definitely Jet pens. I always check out the prices on Blick, Jet Pens and Amazon, depending on if I need to buy anything else. I've found Jet Pens is quite a bit cheaper on a lot of things, but not everything.
I love using pens with watercolour because you can just splash colour on after 🥰
Thank You for pointing this out..I have some new micron pens that I need to check now
Hope you had better luck than I did!
Great tip! There are more and more imposters, so I appreciate you bringing attention to it and making us aware of it. Always good to know when a good/great product is found!
If they were actually waterproof, as advertised, I wouldn't have been as disappointed 😣. We all learn something sometimes.
Thank you for the tip 😉👍
Perfect timing on seeing this. Thanks for sharing!
Of course! Glad it found you.
You're not the only one to get caught with these pens, me too! I didn't buy the same pack (I got a 3 pack with 0.5, 0.3, 0.1) but it would be nice if they were what they say they are 😵💫
I was kind of hoping I just got a bad batch
Thank you for this! I'm new at using the two mediums together and I thought I was doing something wrong or that there was some magical tip that you pros use!
Glad it helped!
I did notice that the one said MICRON and the other one said MIPOR. Hmm 🤔
Very sketchy… lol
Thank you for the tip. I will definitely pay close attention to this.
In hindsight I SHOULD have noticed, but alas I was duped.
Thank you very much this helped me a lot! ☺️
I've definitely had this happen to me (trying to save money). I ended up buying Microns. The Microns work great! Just make sure it's dried before painting over it.
Edited for my lack of proper grammar.
A deal is tempting....except when it ends up backfiring. And yes, you definitely want to make sure any ink is dry before painting.
