My first comment on youtube after using it for 8yrs but u made this so easy to understand after 4weeks of my OB rotation! I just had to drop off a comment
question why the hell make this so complicated rather than just saying this is the womans first baby. God I hate how they just decide to complicate it all.
This was so helpful..thanks for including the example with twins and emphasizing that it deals specifically with the number of pregnancies and not necessarily the number of children, especially in multiple births

lol omg my instructor tried to explain this in lecture & very few people got it. what you did in 10 mins was awesome. i think had my instructor used twins as an example more people wouldve got it, like what your vid did.
Thank you so much. You managed to help my brain understand this in a few minutes that myself nor my professor could achieve in 3 months :) with these videos i feel that my grades should improve.
The last one is G7 P3+5. She has 3 living children n had 5 ectopic pregnancies. Although she was pregnant once with the twins they are considered to be 2 individuals
Great video! Regarding the last case, why isn't the "TPAL" reported as 2153? I though "T" stood for termed "deliveries", and thus having twins at 38 weeks would count as 2 termed deliveries. Thanks
NICE video, helped me understand it way better. i have a question tho, why do we count the positive HCG test as a pregnancy when it has not been confirmed yet by the ultrasound?
Thank you for adding to my understanding. Recommend this video for understanding. What's not stated is the relationship to total parity to the breakdown for the complex example. It's simply not discussed - which could be significant. Perhaps the parity summary figure isn't provided when TPAL is complex? Don't know This is the point that might be expanded upon. Thanks again.
My professor taught me that for calculating Para simply two things (living issue or any viable issue after 28 weeks of gestation and the abortion should be considered)
in the TPAL system does the L only count for the living children given birth by the same person , so it doesnt count the adopted children is that correct?
i have a question regarding the last question. This is the part where i always get the question wrong. What do you write in the P? cause in some exams they always require the whole thing to be written : G - P - (TPAL) G7 P ? (1153) should it be G7 P2 (1153)? or G7 P3 (1153?)
I just have a question, if the woman is not pregnant, just given birth to her first child at term, no prior pregnancies, should I write it as G1P1, or just P1, since she is not pregnant at the moment?
Para is 2 I think. Para is the # of births completed at 20 weeks or longer, twins/triplets count as 1, and and stillbirths count as well. But the pregnancies have to last at least 20 weeks. This video did not touch on that which I find frustrating.
i thought you said preterm= less than 35wks,,,,?meaning if the chirld reached 35 and more then that is term..with refderence to the hard exambple you gave,,were t=1and p=1 etc,,help there,,however, will definetly replicate your knowledge on this ,,thanks and kudos
Simon Sins it will be G7 P2.. because P means no of total pregnancy crossing beyond age of viability.. in case of twins it will be count as 1 pregnancy..
You defined gravida as the number of times the sperm meets an egg to form a viable product. What in case of molar pregnancy? We do consider it in gravida but it's a non viable product.
how do you calculate the P. the 3rd example I got T-2, P-1, A-0 and L-3. you gave an answer of P:3. How did you get your answer? great video and you explained this topic in a simple way. this is my first time learning this and plus I watched a previous video not from you that explained preterm, full and post term (this really helped me) thank you. I am awaiting your response
G7P2 because the twins count as 1 pregnancy. Para just means the number of pregnancies delivered at 20 weeks or greater, regardless of the number of fetuses.

Last question T how will 1?twin born means two isnt it?please clear someone it
@@mubin2015twin baby but one gravid state born at 38 means at Term so T = 1 but Live = 2
@@mubin2015 G1 P2
I had no idea what my prof was talking about yesterday but thanks to your video, I understand it better now. :)

Searched for hours to find this! Thanks SO much!!

very nice it's useful
Thanks a lot!
Thanks u help me a lot please upload more topic on fundal height
would you count it under para if the fetus hasn't reached 37 weeks yet? thank you
in the TPAL system does the L only count for the living children given birth by the same person , so it doesnt count the adopted children is that correct?
Thanks this is usufull info
thank you!

You are an angel. Thank u for simplifying things🙏💕
good job....
Does a Chemical pregnancy count as a loss and add a number to the A category?
i have a question regarding the last question. This is the part where i always get the question wrong. What do you write in the P? cause in some exams they always require the whole thing to be written : G - P - (TPAL)
G7 P ? (1153)

I think G7P3
G7 P2... Forget all 5 abortions, you have one term pregnancy(Twins) and one preterm 35 wks.
I just have a question, if the woman is not pregnant, just given birth to her first child at term, no prior pregnancies, should I write it as G1P1, or just P1, since she is not pregnant at the moment?
Informative
yes l do enjoy the video.hhuh hmmm thank you
thank you
AWESOME
Should abortion ( here ectopic pregnancy) be depicted in para which is supposed to be gestational period which has crossed the period of viability ???
amazing ty
what would para by itself be for the last example?
Thank u so much
Thanks
Awesome
If a pregnant lady with 16 weeks of gestation presently, and history of Twins 2 year old @39 weeks &5 year old @40 weekswhat was the G &P ?
what was the P in the last example? T-1, P-1, A-5 and L-3
Preterm born 35 weeks is 1
G 7
P ?

In parity twins are not counted as one bcz the no. Of living children is 2.
Thank you alot
Thanks for the clip, especially the last homework.
Thank you
So if a women has been pregnant 2x before , 2 living children , one pregnancy was a twin less pregnancy.
So would her gpa be g3p2a1

G:7 P:8?

its going to be G:7 P:3 3 LIVING AND TWO PREGNANCIES THEY ALL GOT TO 2O WEEKS GESTATION

Yeah or you could say G:7 P:3+5. Because 5 were

did you ever figure it out? I calculated the same answer you got
Did anybody figure out why P-A-L (1-0-3) translated to Para of 3? Is it because L = 3, so Para = 3? I'm confused.
2 full term plus 1 at preterm equals para 3
I have a doubt, what will happen if there is an intra uterine death or still birth ??? Plz give an example
Good class
So the last one is G7p2 ?
In the hard example, would it be G7P2, or P3 since it was twins?
G7P2 because the twins count as 1 pregnancy. Para just means the number of pregnancies delivered at 20 weeks or greater, regardless of the number of fetuses.
G7P3

got it now, had to read book, parity is number of pregnancies in which fetus reaches viability approx 20 weeks, regardless born alive...
Would the last one be Para 4?
