  • Gravidity and parity maternity nursing NCLEX review for students!
Gravidity (gravida) and parity (para) is a two-digit system used to help assess a woman's OB health history. For exams, be sure you're familiar with the definition of each and their individual terms along with how to calculate the gravida and para.
Gravidity is the number of times a woman has been pregnant. Parity is the number of times a woman has completed a pregnancy or birthed a baby at 20 weeks gestation or greater.
    Terms to Know:
Nullipara: a woman has never completed a pregnancy at 20 weeks or greater.
Nulligravida: a woman has never been pregnant
Primipara: a woman has only once completed a pregnancy at 20 weeks or greater.
Primigravida: a woman has been or is currently pregnant for the first time.
Multipara: a woman has completed two or more pregnancies at 20 weeks or greater.
Multigravida: a woman has been pregnant two or more times.
Please watch the video for gravidity and para examples.

I know I will never be able to thank you in person but I am someone that believes that God hears our sincere prayers. My prayer for you and your precious family is that you are always blessed and protected. I pray favor upon your life and God guiding hand in whatever you do for all the help you have given RN students like me. Things that never made sense.. you broke down..took time to explain and gave us that light bulb moment when we finally understood. Your videos and quizzes are gifts to us and you have touched so many lives with your gift of teaching. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. God bless you in Jesus name.

hi i don't know if this was asked before but, do you have an online NLCEX review or are you planning to do one. I love watching all of your Nursing content video lectures and I really wish you have a structured complete review course (like UWorld or Kaplan) because you're really good at it. Please let me know plus I'm out of School for literally for 11 years and I DON"T know where to start my review before taking NCLEX. Thanks in advance!

Interesting. In England we call women who have had one child as "Primips" and 2 or more children as "Multips." We also call women who have had 5 or more children as "Grand multips," none of which was mentioned in this video - wondering if Americans don't use those terms then?

Im sure they have their reasons but this seems really dumb to take something simple, like saying this woman has been pregnant twice. To now having to say its G2 P1. I mean WHY??? Just say how many times pregant who keeps making simple things this complicated.
