Zahir jan brother i agree, even ustad Wali ( tabla player of Ustad Sarahang) mentioned it also about this raag bhopali. his talent was priceless he deserves more than being sartag of music.
At the age of 25, Ustad Mohammad Hussain Sarahang participated in a festival of music held at Kabuls famed Pamir Cinema. Amongst the participants were Ustad Qasim and Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.
At this festival, Ustad Mohammad Hussain Sarahang amazed the crowd with his talent and passion and was awarded the Gold Medal over the more famous Masters of music.

The music is so peaceful and majestic, it gives tranquility to heart and mind! But shame on the comment section, where there is only arguments and discussions - all those who engage in these silly activities have not understood the music and it's purpose!

i am sorry to say that the tabla player is not USTAD ALLA RAHKA, but a student of his that i dont have the name too.
and the Sarangi nawaz is USTAD SULTAN KHAN,
i know this because my father recorded this is INDIA, and my father released this on a CD.

Thanks for commenting. Allah Rakha or no Allah Rakha, Ustad Sarahang is one of the greatest classical singers Afghanistan has ever produced, and for me that is good enough. I listen to his songs, analyze the lyrics and enjoy it immensely. I do not believe he was the best of the East nor he walked on Indian girls' hair. Often we Afghans over exaggerate what little we have, from Ahad Zahir, to Ustad Sarahang to Afghans defeating Russians, etc. Why can't we accept ourselves the way we are?
He had health problems, and after his death they found a note in his hand where he scribbled " it was good that you came, my eyes were brieghten after seeing you"

The tabla player is in fact Ustad Allarakha Khan. I've heard the entire recording before. Ustad Allarakha starts out by introducing Ustad Sarahang, and Ustad Sarahang tells of how me came to be under Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan's tutelage.
The video is not of this actual performance but a clip from a TV programme. That said, I still don't hear Alla Rakha's 'hand' on the tabla here.
@mjmbrumi You are right, this isn't his type of playing. But this is alla rakha because back then they didn't use microphones. Also this was a memorial for the death of Ustad Sarahang's and Ustad Bade ghulam ali khan's ustad, Ustad Ahiq Ali Khan. So it would'nt be right if Alla Rakha is the shining preformer of the day.
as you all know Ustad Mohammed Hussain Sarahang sang lots of "rare" ragas, such as GungiKauns, Gawati, Bhop, Ramkali and he also made some of his own...
2 off the top of my head are Mina Mani (very close to Shivranjani), and Hazrat.
Ustad Sarahang loved all Afghans, if they were Pashtuns, Hazaras, Uzbacks or Tajicks and he is loved by ball Afghans: Pashtuns, Hazaras.......I am a Panjshiry and have hundrets of Pashtun friends. All of them are proud of Ustad Sarahang's legacy. You can read that @FAaRHaAnN first write soething insulting about the Great Ustad and then he attacks our Pashtun brothers and sisters as response. Dear up loader, I have to mention that Ustad Allah Rakha is not on table...This concert was dedicated to Ustad Ashiq Ali khan in India. Ustad Allah Rakha was a part of audience. I have the full concert at the beginning of the concert Ustad Sarahang gives a brief speech and appreciates that Ustad Allah Rakha is attending his concert. Also the table palyer does not play the same style as Ustad Allah Rakha Khan. So please change your wrong information about this concert. Thank you!
You correct others and mention "table" prayer? You cannot even spell the name of the instrument correctly! "TABLE"
Correction, he studied 17 years and continued under Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan every winter after that up until the latter part of his life. He is the only master to correctly sing the raag of Bopoli and was awarded the title of Sartag of music by none other than the government of India. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BUDDY.

Ustad Sarahang deserves a lot of respect and someone like Ustad Allah Rakha should have accompanied him. However, at a fleeting moment you can see the Tabla player in this video and it is a different person. In either case, it would not add to, or diminish his greatness. Ustad Sarahng intertwined Bedel's poetry with Indian Classical Music, something no Indian Ustad could have done, or would have wanted to do. It seemed that in this video a great attempt was made not to show the Tabla player.
first of all his name is not ustad sarahan , its Ustad muhammad hussain sarahang . second : if Ustad sarahang calls himself a fan of ustad bade ghulam ali khan its means that he is giving him respect , not that ustad bade ghulam ali khan is better than ustad sarahang . Ustad sarahang was honoured as ''Sartaj e mosiqy'' which no one got till now , and Ustad Sarahang won every competation whenever he went to India. everyone has its's own place dont try to compare them!!
I couldn't say it any better brother. The title of Sartag was given to him by the masters of music and the Indian government after his 2 hour rendition of BOPHOLI raag that has not been duplicated ever.

and bhop and bhopali and differnt ragas, i say this b/c i have a recording where USTAD SARAHANG clearly says "now i am singing raga bhop, not bhopali - very similar, but differerent ragas"

Gold Medal? what this a wrestling much ? Please don't turn history into a story. Do you even know who Bade Ghalam Ali Khan is? Perhaps not, otherwise you would not say that in your , so called, documentary. Keep in mind that Ustad Sarahag Studied music for ONLY 15 or 16 years and that was it. Ustad Bade Ghalam Ali Khan Sahib was MUSIC. Don't say that Ustad Sarahg got a Gold medal. Enough that we are the laughing stock of Indians when it comes to music, don't add to that.
